Everyone: Quick! The Algorithm (and children) love unboxing vids!
Doug: I’m gonna open the book.
Heck yeah! Starting at 600 pts for Sons of Behemat you can get one guy! :P
Omg yes Doug... Nobody is covering this yet that I have seen. You absolute legend
Champ, Doug.
You know your medium and your audience well.
Thank you for homing in on this first! :D
Wait a minute, you're in Team Animosity. What a small world
@@bevanh.6068 It is a small world after all
Time for my Sloppity Bilepiper to start his path to become a joyful Warlord for Grandfather Nurgle
We are gearing up for a new Path to Glory campaign after the new edition drops. Now to decide which faction to bring….
Thanks Doug for the in depth overview of this, it's nice to look in the boxes but this a better deep dive into the nitty gritty narrative play of the book.
This was the thing I was most hopeful for with 3.0, thanks for going over it!
This seems really similar to the Battle Companies that the Middle-earth game has. That's a really fun system, so I'm stoked to try it out for AoS!
Super excited for this. I like the idea of casualty scores, that makes command effects like the one that brings models back to a unit a lot more important in the long term and makes you choose between using a Command Point to win the scenario or to potentially keep more of your unit for following games.
I'd like to add that having played a great deal of Crusade in 40K, Path to Glory is superior on every level. It's a lot more detailed, there are balancing factors that don't really exist in Crusade, and the quests are far superior to the agenda system in Crusade. I'm really excited about this!
thank you for covering the narrative part of the hobby.
Doug tackling the rules I am actually excited about.
Yes! I’m super interested in path to glory, so glad you’re covering this because this is exactly how me and my buddy are starting our journey into age of sigmar 3rd edition
"There will be added material in your army books "
sad soulblight noises.
Hopefully the latest books get their 2.0 path to glory stuff updated in a supplement because I dont want to have to wait 3 years to receive another soon to be out of date path to glory .
The new Path to Glory sounds fantastic, I cannot wait to start playing it.
Oh I hope there is something like this in the Conquest:LAoK campaign book. I played a lot of the old chaos path to glory book that came in white dwarf.
PB has said that that's precisely what the book is supposed to be, so fingers crossed!
Good man Doug! in a world of taking minis out of a box you deliver top content like this...Really hope the world allows you and the RR1s crew a nice campaign for RUclips.
Bare bones is good, the game is complicated enough without adding 40k crusades complexity. This format looks badass and love the territory system is awesome. Cant wait to try this with my Legion of Azgorh and the forgotten mines :D
This sounds awesome man I'm stoked
I was planning on making a total war like campaign for my local store and was thinking of doing a lot of things that this new system does built-in. I love this, I'll probably still add a map and a battle matrix for army moving on the map to give it that total war feel. My job got a lot easier.
Looks really cool. I hope the nearby FLGS hops on the train. I am slowly building a Troggherd and this would be very motivating.
This is perfect! More videos about path to Glory please!! I tried to get into PtG this weekend and it was so confusing!!! This helped more than I can explain!! Thank you so much!!! Youre a champion!
I like this, espcially starting small and growing my list (and finding some funny unexpected special heroes and units on the way).
What are the comeback/underdog mechanism? It is always nice to be able to change warband or being able to join late too...
Will follow this series for sure :)
Great, looks amazing 😀 I hope this will expand with a map systemet and specific missions to steal/destroy strongholds! Imagine running a small taks force, breaking in to the camp of your enemies, trying to kill the warlord and such 💪🏻
Yes more info about this. I’m hoping to start a trend going at my lgs. Thx doug
This has been a good watch; I've not played fantasy since the old world was still around, and signed up for a Path of Glory campaign in my local area.
Wish my ogor gut busters luck.
24:40 Fun Fact, Decimated meant reduce by one in tenth
Crusade was what was keeping me playing 40K to the exclusion of everything else. ]
Looks like that's about to the end.
Bring on the spreadsheets and post-game paperwork!!!
PS: Not perfect but amazing is the perfect description of 40K, so this gets me very excited for the new Path to Glory.
Great stuff Doug, can't wait to get my hands on the Core Book.
Thanks Doug! Again great job!
Wow this sounds brilliant doug. I just created an arch-revenant backstory that would fit this perfectly .
Legend! It’s one of my favourite play styles by far!
I'm very hype for this.
Man recites Holy texts. On repeat. Love this thank you.
Thank you! Now I can go back to making lists on Azyr!
This looks so fun. I can’t wait!
Doug out here with the night upload. With the quality. I see you
THANK YOU! for this video. This is the most interesting part!
Legend Doug! Book recommendation: Mother of Nightmares, lots of world building/setting in Ghur and some cool bits about cities of sigmar and vampires
How would casualty points work with Horror units? As you presented it I am currently rather concerned.
Dude. THANK YOU for giving me a way to convince my friends to play this.
Aka; dropping a link to show them how matchplay for 4 years is BORING.
Can't wait to follow your path to glory! Will you be doing a lore-intro to your Stormcasts too, Doug?
Doug going here against the Flow. Appreciate the content!
Hi, ty for a great video and for going so in-depth on the path to glory. You mention around 2:54 that battle tomes in AoS work a little different to codexes in 40k. I’ve not read an AoS battle tome could you explain pls how they are different to a 40k codex (which I have read)? Ty in advance :)
*thinks about the most awesome hero story - hero dies in/after first game* "Welp, back to the drawing board...
That would be actually kinda hillarious though.
This is great!!! Thank you for going over this.
PtG makes me most excited too! Thanks!
I do not get it.
We are starting our ptg campign at lets say 1500 limit. There is a system that says : "spend GP to get more units and larger army". Sounds like a cool thing, but whats the point to do so if my opponent does not? He wants to focus on upgrades to his territories or whatnot forcing me to kinda wait until he upgrades army size as well? Am I missing something? Is point-limit-increase basically becomes just an unbalanced dump tax on GP to play a bigger battle? It does not support the spirit of competition, hinders the feeling of progress and looks kinda odd and clunky to say the least. But maybe I am mistaken and misunderstood the system
Great Vid! Really liking how Path to Glory looks to be shaping up. But, with my understanding at least, it seems impossible to build a Vanguard sized Lumineth roster considering the starting limits on wizard units.
Squinting at the relevant pages, it looks like Vanguard forces give you access to 3 heroes (one of which is your warlord) and 1 wizard. So at the beginning you could probably only have one hero because it takes up your wizard slot as well (I think the Vanari Bannerblade is the only exception to this as it's not a wizard). HOWEVER, if you took the Arcane Waypoint territory as your first free territory (the one that unlocks extra Wizard slots) that would solve your problem.
I think some armies will always be encouraged to take certain territories to begin with (like the Forgotten Mines for Kharadron Overlords to give access to more war machine slots) but that seems thematic to me - Lumineth Realmlords are always going to have a wizard's tower looming in the background anyway.
@@torsoboy Cheers. The trouble with some Lumineth battleline units like their spearmen, cavalry and sentinels (archers); is that the units become wizards when their squad leader is alive and the unit is above a certain size. How would that interact with the limitations? Or do you reckon they mean “Wizard” strictly on the warscroll keyword box?
@@tombrowning3384 for the moment I assume they just mean Wizard as a keyword (so all the hero units). I'm sure they'll be an FAQ to clarify cases like the Lumineth at some point.
There are some interesting parts for sure, but also sounds like a lot more book keeping. Personally not a fan of its reliance on Matched Play points, but I can see why people would prefer that. Just - to me - the random aspects in a campaign for generating your forces is the most interesting part, as it gives you a reason to run things you usually wouldn't take in a competitive game. That's why I built my campaign system around using Anvil of Apotheosis and the Open War Army Generator for progression.
The territories thing is also interesting, but without ties to a specific map doesn't carry much weight to me, other than being another mechanic to drive your recruiting.
Pl was used for crusade in 40k, most people decided to go out their way to convert it to points. they probably learned from that probably as in the end of the day it's points that are most balanced.
So Doug, I am running A gloomspite Gitz path to glory.. “Gitzy Goliaths” can I use my current battletome Path to Glory options? Or only 3.0 core book options at this time?
I am so hyped! Warlord Burgmanson here we go
Holy Sigmar! GW really go all out with the new Path to Glory this time.
I was never interesting in the old Path to Glory because i feel it kind of boring and a bit too blant.
But this version really get my interesting. Can't wait to play it.
Is this only available in the big core rule book or are these pages also available ik the 80-page warrior starter set book?
I know it says you can get 3 territories but how many of the same kind can you take? I'm a KO player and I'm finding it hard to take many boats. Unless I'm missing something with the gunhaulers being in the other section.
I havent played much cause where i live most people play 40k but im really interested in path to glory
So with the fact that it's point based, do you still use the Path To Glory charts in the current battletomes or do you have access to everything? Because some of the charts have specific units missing which seems odd. Ie Chaos Marauder Horsemen in Slaves to Darkness
I don’t think the system was made with current battletomes in mind. Like frankly, I’d ignore that section of my battletome and just follow what’s in the core book atm when it comes to selecting your starting units
@@2Tough Awesome that makes me pretty happy. I rarely get to play and my buddy and I were gonna start up a PtG, Ive already started painting up some stuff for the battletome version so
So great Doug
How would Lumineth work in this? Would you be forced to 2 units in a 600 point order of battle?
Is this the current version (3.0) or 2.0?
Thanks!
OK, honestly...who curbstombed a baby seal? Out with it! 26:46
Who’s gonna tell him...?
Thanks Doug!
Should we use 2.0 path to glory rules from the battletomes?
Unfortunately nope, all obsolete and replaced with what's in this core book for now :/
@@bored_pyro thanks! So... We do have to wait till each battletome release, dont we?
Make a Fimir lore Video! It would be great.
"It's amazing...and by that I mean..."
No no. We get it. Amazing is one of those words you really don't have to elaborate on. We trust you. I'll buy the god damn thing.
how does casualty score work for models that are returned like zombies?
Casualty limit defines the new maximum model size for the unit
Which Realm of age of Sigmar would you rather be stranded in? Azyr isn't allowed.
Hysh or Ghyran imo
Aqshy, I already live in the realm of fire so I'd be at home.
Brandon P where in Florida? It was 107 in North Florida today with the heat index. It's also a wet heat so you will sweat... a lot!
@@TheRainman614 See any angry half naked dwarves?
Shyish, you'll all end up there eventually anyways.
i didnt liked the change to 3ed to much (still in my opinion, some factions schould had have a cleanup first...) but this sounds interesting !
cool thing is that stormcast heroes can't die in this. They get reforged but take penalties from it.
How does lumineth work when most of there units are wizards
Heroes count as wizard and the units dont, its on page 7 of the FAQ here under "Path to Glory" :)
www.warhammer-community.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/VrQ1PX4ZvydjBuKl.pdf
What happens if the warlord dies?
if you can convert glory points into quest points and there's a quest that gives you 10 glory for 3 quest points. isn't that just converting 3 glory into 7 for literally no effort?
Still need to fight a battle, but yes
When he says core book is he talking about core rule book or path to glory book
Age of Sigmar 3rd edition core book :)
@@2Tough I just got myself the Path to Glory book. Is that still a viable source for playing path to glory? I’ve heard some people say it was better. And my friends and I really want to play narrative exclusive games.
Ok I’m old school but this kind of sounds like mordheim
Doug video and upload your path to glory
I feel 4th edition PtG is a little watered-down compared to this.
So its just dumbed down sigmar? So no traits or artifacts? where is the fun in that?
Thank you for this!! I swear there aren’t enough AOS creators 🥲
