- So i finally got my hands on the Toyota GR Yaris! The GR Yaris is a car that i have wanted to drive since the moment i saw it released. The Toyota GR Yaris is a rally inspired 4wd super hatch. It has 257bhp, delivers 0-62mph in 5.5 seconds and has 3 driving modes that send the power to the front and rear wheels giving you a number of different styles of driving. The GR Yaris is a brilliant car. They hype is real and it is one of the best hot hatchs i have driven!

Hello from Spain. Thank you for sharing your experience, I received mine last Saturday and it was delivered to me on Wednesday 26, A white with circuit park, as it should be. Great review. Yes seen just about every other one but your reviews always come accross as 100% genuine. I picked up my Pearl White Circuit pack in February. I'm fortunate it's not my daily or unfortunate in that every time I drive it I want to drive it again! My wife has a 595 and that always puts a smile on your face but the GR is just something really special. Get your order in Stef!

Been driving mine in the exact same spec since mid-march when I took delivery. It’s a grin inducing car! Never fails to lift my mood. Would have been great if Abarth had done something similar.

Ive ordered a white one, I took a demo out yesterday for an hour in terrible conditions, it honestly felt like the road was dry! Nothing fazed it even when really provoking it.

Love the GR Yaris. Well it’s not for me unfortunately. After following Stef for all these years I have finally purchased my first Abarth 2018 595 comp. I will be picking her up tomorrow. Great vid as usual. 🤜

Not driven the supra gr so can’t compare. Different kind of cars though. Hopefully will get A chance to drive the supra soon
Amazing drive, I have only driven one for around 20 minutes but we all know it would need a cat back system immediately after purchase.
If only other manufacturers did this: a Homologation special that is the silhouette of the race car, where it had plenty of power about 50hp less than the race car, manual and looking awesome.
Tested in December, money down instantly, pick up tomorrow.
Picking mine up on this Wednesday, haven't test driven one, but after that review I'm a happy camper. Cheers

Test drive booked for Wednesday. (former 2 Abarth owner currently driving a MX5 rf 2l ) . You forgot to mention the 14 month waiting list!

Purchase made. The long 12 month + wait, now starts . The selling point is not just the car, it’s the ownership experience with 5 years warranty, interest free credit, and superb dealer experience, It’s not perfect (compared to my Mazda MX5 rf)., the steering could have more feedback/feel, and the road noise on course Scottish roads could be better controlled) With top, of the range Abarths now looking rather silly at over 30k, the Yaris is a no brainer.

Full GR bodykit, interior kit and HSK legamax exhaust + super filter.

Hey Stef, a bit off topic here but i thought you would be the man the knowledge. I was looking to get a new car after a premotion. 4Cs seem to have jumped in price by a fair amount. After being some what underloved do you know why they have gone so expensive and now it seems rare in the UK.?

Production stopped and to be honest the whole second hand market has gone up. It will come back down again towards the end of the year but the 4C was always destined to rise in value due to its rarity. Can’t find many online for sale so it’s a sellers market at the moment

It comes from Lexus (which has a "volume" slider).
Test drove it, loved it, ordered it, picked up last weekend. Time is going so slow during run in period...

Hmm, it's in fact a carbon forged roof, which is sadly wrapped in a carbon foil instead of having a clearcoat protection. But calling it a polymer light weight plastic, not even sure if that material is even crash test legal, TBH it is really strange to get one of the main marketing features wrong like that😁

It’s very black Stef and although this video is superb it was hard to see when you were driving, could be that the cars is not very big but black on black🙄 it needs (some) colour don’t you think, mind you I am a little old to be looking at rally cars😁🚘🚘🚘👍👍👍
Just buy one mate. I have base Red GR in aus and love it to death, going to mod it over the next few years. I know it's not a Circuit pack or Rallye in aus but it's enough for a old man like me. Buy buy. There I helped.😍

Its not a plastic roof with a wrap. Its a carbon roof with a carbon wrap on top.

A45 but they are different class in my opinion. A45 and RS3 are hyper hatch’s
I've never tried to digest my GR Yaris - you would need some serious fibre to push that out...

Apparently it'll never see competition in the WRC because they changed the rules in 2020 in such a way that excluded it.

@@StefABtv arghh! Here in Australia they offer tarmac black in the regular GR Yaris, or you can get the Rallye edition which comes in pearl white only. (Circut pack for the UK + sat nav at all that)
How does it compare to your old A45 in terms of fun to drive
More fun to drive. A45 was clinical. This feels more engaging but the A45 is the better car but also not in the same league

I cant decide between this and an early gulia qv both very different but around the same cost. For me the gr is more nimble and useable all year but the gulia is a beast.
I’m not keen on anything about this other than it’s 6th gear 🤤

Lol I test a Yaris gr and didn’t know it had adaptive cruise control. Not sure how that works with a manual though, but pointless if you ask me. As for lane assist, bloody annoying which luckily you can turn off....every journey

Hmmm I’m still not sold for over £30k. It just doesn’t have the personality of an Abarth (yes, yes I know they’re not as powerful). They do sound awful from the outside, any manufacturer can pump artificial noise into a cabin. Great review tho

Everyone wants this little baby...all the reviews rave about performance! But, to me, a car is all about looks! And I simply do not like hatchbacks (apart from the Brera, that is).
Think it looks mega personally :) a brera is stunning though

It's all down to personal taste! I have had many a hatchbacks and they are great, functional cars! I just don't find them attractive! If we all liked the same car the world would be sooooo boring!
It's got one of those stick thingies and an extra pedal to the left of the brake for changing gear manually , I'd want an auto or a dsg type gearbox to consider it as good as it is.
Absolutely would have the GR over the Supra

It's hard to explain. I guess my expectations had been raised so much being on the waiting list and then seeing all the positive RUclips reviews. I really was expecting to get in it and fall in love but we just didn't click. Don't get me wrong, I think it's an awesome car and I'm still tempted to have another look. I think I was expecting it to be a little more raw, like my old Subaru RA back in the day. The sound is very tame as well...... However seeing this one in black and the fact the 0% Apr deal is still on is making me rethink 🤔

@Stef ABtv your review is great and your experience is consistent with pretty much every review I've seen. That's why I was so surprised I didn't like it. It's really strange. Like I've said above, I might have another look.... although the waiting list is quite long now (I'd have had delivery of mine this month if I'd have gone through with it)
From Australia - in the UK you got slightly ripped off with the Circuit not getting all the convenience pack goodies ( sat nav/JBL sound/ Heated seats etc ) but for some reason in Aust. we got the RallyE pack, that I have, and it gets EVERYTHING. sorry

Great little car although the looks and interior are not for me.
Looks like a great car but I'm going to wait and see how durable that 3cylinder engine is. A couple of people have had failures and it does seem a very high output for a little engine
It's a Toyota = its reliable. Also peace of mind of the Toyota warranty

It depends. The yaris is a beast on narrow mountain roads with snow or basicly a beast at the worst conditones

I nearly bought one, but couldn’t justify having 5 cars and won’t part with my 2017 rs3 saloon.
Pearl white is the best colour., black is the worst as it hides the lines of the car too much.
Awesome car, still prefer my rs3 saloon but very different cars. Rs3 is a lot quicker in a straight line and most be roads but the very twisty B roads I don’t think many cars will keep up with the Yaris gr, even a Porsche 911 gt3 rs will struggle to shake it off.

I know it’s supposed to be a great car to drive, but the interior is dull, boring and uninspiring to want to be in and live with. The exterior looks good and the styling is aggressive and would look far better in any other colour except black which hides it’s styling far too much. Good video to watch once again.👍

Power figures or not this is still a Toyota Yaris. I get that it’s a small nimble car which is fun and has its mod cons, but I wouldn’t choose one of these. Great video stef! 👍🏻
You're not considering the other factors. The finance deals are amazing, the running costs are low and there's a 5yr warranty.
I had a high spec beemer and I had to rebuild the top half of the engine (£3k) and the subframe had torn away from the chassis (£1k). That was bought off a family member as well. It's a little like saying, don't get a new M3, get a Ferrari.
Yaris mirrors and lights - that's it! Itl smoke an M3 round the twisties no trouble

£3k for an engine repair is unfortunate I must admit, is that the vanos system or complete top end rebuild?
There’s just no comparison for me between one of these and something German even if it were used.
for me, if this performance spec build was on a car chassis shaped something like a Kia ceed gt for instance (for that new car image) it’d be so much more appealing for many. These are just so square and lack character, they just don’t look they’re value imo.

Not a fan of this car. Very pricy for such a tiny toy too. I'd rather spend $33k on a used M2, or a 5.0 Mustang.
