    Another observation: AFAIK, the massacres of indigenous peoples were perpetrated by civilians and had no direct link to the regime. Brazil has a long history of protecting the indigenous populations and an official institutions to carry out the protection since the early 20th century - an institution created by then Col. Cândido Rondon. The institution was expanded by Gen. Castello Branco.
