@@OllieJones Hey I'm curious about how you got the reddish and blurry feeling on the waterfall scene. As I knlw, professionals like Cinelab can't do mistake while developing. So the answer left must be that your hint of expirement of the film. How's your opinion?
there's just something unique about analogue film that digital can't replace: 1. shakiness and noise on each frame when you scan them. even when the camera's already steady to record before. 2. small dust that appears randomly, its extremely unpredictable, yet it tells you that this film was done with a physical reel, and it will always be the reason why its charming.
@@laurencewhite4809 not even close to this. you probably must have a very naive eye or haven't shot on film for long enough. film highlights, shakiness and dust are almost impossible to replicate accurately, still to this day. the closest software that can manage to do so is Dehancer Pro at, let's say 80%, which is a lot. but 100% film look? nope, not yet anyway.
Something about the film makes you feel something. One way or another, the imperfections of the image makes it more vivid. I don't think ill ever be able to put it into words. It's something you "feel", and I definitely felt something undescribable watching what is presumably a collection of random shots of a place I've never been to before, yet feels so familiar.
This is a perfect film. You've done an incredible job with the atmosphere and tone of the footage, and the visuals are captured beautifully. It's become one of my favourite RUclips shorts. Excellent job man, seriously.
This is really well done. The contrasts both visually and auditory work to make a statement that otherwise difficult to do on the length of one 100ft roll of film.
This is an amazing film!!! The relaxing sounds of nature along with those from man made objects are mixed extremely well with the music in the beginning. And the composition of your cinematography OH MY GOD!!!! And I’m a huge sucker for Black & White film, so that ending was the cherry on top. Spectacular job filming this and putting it all together!!!
This is amazing! The framing, texture, and details really stands out. The sound design is fantastic, the film grain is lovely, and the aspect ratio fits really well. Great work my friend, very inspiring stuff
I'm not good at painting but this video wants to make me paint every single shot. One of the most beautiful videos i have ever seen. I'm so thankful for this video.
Absolutely beautiful. and not just aesthetically. I knew from the very first cut being a cut out, that you were gonna utilize the film in a narrative/cinematic sense. And, I love it, I admire the foley too.
This is Gorgeous! This reminds me of Tarkovskys films like Stalker where the sounds and scenery creates a creepy atmosphere. I love it! What equipment did you use and where was this shot at?
This looks soo good... It's so mesmerizing.. Big budget movies can still keep celluloid alive.. Instead of using fully digital cameras in their movies...
You have gone to so much trouble to gather these scenes from roundabout the Hartland Peninsula, it looks like. But why, does it look so nice? It's just lush.
@@OllieJones I think you may have too haha. What were you going for with this film? I love the aesthetics a lot. Were you going for a creepy vibe or just like a vintage one?
@@23StudiosSportsahha thank you! The main aim was to bring life to the landscape and capture is beauty whilst at the same time creating the feelings of uneasiness and loneliness. Think the sound design was a massive part of this, it really bought it to life!
Is the audio edited? That is, can I record wind where I live and then edit it to make it sound that way or did you record it and upload the audio without editing?
This, THIS, is exactly why digital photography will never replace celluloid photography in my heart.
Amen!

You know what? This is totally ancient!!!!
Photography?
@Ed Nguyen wrong

If you want this look, there is literally no reason to actually shoot real film. You can reproduce this look easily with digital footage.
@@laurencewhite4809sorry i
disagree. its just not the same as analogue

looks great like the beginning to a old scary movie
Some of the best 16mm work I've seen in RUclips.

Film creates a far more atmospheric theme.
i love how you wrote this :D
Really love this atmosphere
Stunning. Feels like I’m watching a gritty 70’s UK TV drama.

Thanks mate!!
Wow the shot of that house with pine tree is insane! I can't believe how well the film picks up the wetness of the atmosphere.
I absolutely love this, thank you so much. I am from Hartland but now live overseas. Made my month.
We must not allow cinema or digital photography to kill analogue.
I agree. Same with 2D Traditional animation and cel animation.
Amen.
it won't
Why not?
Prices are killing it, not the aficionados.
I would really love to see an old horror quest game in this abandoned setting, in the style of early 00’s. Old house, woods, deserted harbor. wow
Finally something on RUclips shot on film without the need of showing the borders or perforations. Thanks.
Absolutely stunning atmosphere you have created there, it really looks like a classic old movie, a good old Murder Mystery.
Excellent work !
Very beautiful scenes and sights. Lovely work!
This is gorgeous. Looks like shots from those old A Ghost Story for Christmas films from the 70s. Nice work!
This is really well done. The contrasts both visually and auditory work to make a statement that otherwise difficult to do on the length of one 100ft roll of film.
woah it's so crisp.. great shot, great ambience
This medium must flourish forever.
The Halation. The Grain! I love how the film renders the colors of the sky. Great film. I especially love your sounddesign. Awesome job! :)
Stunningly gorgeous, I can appreciate this infinitely more than anything digital 👏🏾📽️🎞️⚡
This was so hauntingly beautiful, and so much better with the environmental sound instead of music!
I love how it makes it look so late 70s looking
Simply beautiful. Celluloid is just pure art.
In love with this, Ollie! I recently found my Grandpa's old Bolex camera and this has inspired me to wanna go out and shoot something with it.
This was not what I was expecting but such a cool piece of art. Thanks for shooting on film and thanks for sharing!
this is eerily Brillant and nostalgic, its giving the lighthouse movie vibes
Absolutely beautiful. Such a timeless look.
Oh, this is lovely, sir. I quite like the bit with the waterfall: a thing no digi-whatever can ever hope to replicate. Viva film.
loved it. the atmosphere was definitely enhanced by the 16mm film. definitely no substitute for the real thing. i hope you make more of these.
I often think about this project, a real source of inspiration !
Desolate and lonely atmosphere combined with stunning visuals? Ambient bliss. Great film.
Loved it! Reminded me of one of my favourite photographers - Bill Brandt.
this felt never-ending. loved every shot.
Such beautyfull Images. Film is so great and Devon is really atmospheric

Really Great The Sound Is The Real Highlight Here, Really Inspirational Stuff
My kind of shooting! There is just something special about the 4:3 static shots on film, I don't know I just love it, I can't get enough of it..

I love it! absolutely gorgeous, it has this "bergmanesque" vibe to it

Sound design and shots remind me a lot of From the Wild Sea (2021). Nice work
just... wow... simply breathtaking
The fact that it’s not perfect, and a little bit shitty, is what makes it awesome.
Incredibly done!

Love the look of this, just beautiful shots. Makes me think a little of Sleep Will Have Her House
This is the coolest thing ever im obsessed with 16mm!
This actually calmed me immensely, thank you
Gives me The Seventh Seal vibe but colorized ❤️ loved it

Love it, especially the sound design!
brilliant and beatiful composition
Fantastic! I got an old Krasnogorsk-3 16mm camera in good condition. This makes me wanna use it again.

Thank you for sharing this. Very nicely shot. Beautiful sound design.
I adore this!
Rivetingly gorgeous and haunting
some of these shots could be in a horror movie, idk why but when i see noise I find it spooky! great work
this would be such an amazing opening to a paranoia themed film, great work buddy
WONDERFUL footage!
Amazing atmosphere and great shots!
This is really rad! It reminds of video clips by the Cornish band A Blaze of Feather.
GORGEOUS! Great great work here! Shocked these were expired rolls!
Okay…this is just…Fantastic!
Lovely locations and a great montage!

Oh wow 0:41 is so good!
