    Wonderful! Great work! I see you have returned to the 4x3 aspect ratio. There is something special about the 4x3 frame. I have a U16 and a S16 K3 and have been considering shooting 4x3 so I can use all my regular 16mm lenses. Looking forward to your next film.

  • @truefilm6991
    @truefilm6991 Год назад +1

    Absolutely stunning! I reckon you used some stabilization in post, since the K-3 usually has some mild jitter, but by far not as bad as even great Super 8 cameras. What happened on the sprocket hole side of the image? Seems to be some sort of scratch not caused at the gate, since that would be completely straight and vertical. Seems to be some sort of burr. Loop formers? I trust you will figure it out and fix it, if you haven't already. 16mm V3 50D is a slice of heaven (to quote fellow filmmaker Tyler Purcell).

    • @ssimplefilms
      @ssimplefilms  Год назад

      You’ve got a keen on because The gate jitter is pretty nasty on my body so I have had to use post stabilisation on most shots, and the abnormality you see was due to some dust, I’ve sonde given it a good clean and it has disappeared on rolls since.
      I’m glad you enjoyed it, you’re own work has been instrumental in my knowledge about these cameras, love your work ❤️

  • @Picskull
    @Picskull Год назад +1

    Finally, someone who knows how to get a good colour grade and knows how to shoot. Did you manage to get the debris removed from the gate at the top of the frame? I'd love to get a K3 but concerned about this kind of problem as i would like to retain as much of the frame to allow for recomposition later as possible.

    • @ssimplefilms
      @ssimplefilms  Год назад +1

      I was confident the camera worked well enough that I could risk it and keep the gate dirty when I first started using this body, purely just for aesthetic reasons when pulling screen grabs.
      But since this I have cleaned and shot with the camera and the result’s turned out great, very clean !
      Thanks for those kind words also ❤️

    • @Picskull
      @Picskull Год назад

      You're welcome. I'm glad you've managed to get even cleaner results, the original defects weren't enough to distract at all, but getting it as clean as possible obviously will mean you can get the best image to later do as you wish with.
      I've often thought footage from this particular camera would make for great stills....since 35mm is so much these days i'd be temped to get a K3 and see how far i could push it for still photography on a tripod...you think it would be doable? 16mm prices for 100ft are a lot better than 35mm, and for Ektachrome 100...well...i think with the K3's lens you'd get much better results with a camera like this for stills than a 16mm subminiature 110 camera?

    • @ssimplefilms
      @ssimplefilms  6 месяцев назад

      This was with a few different stocks, I use all 4 negative stocks pretty often depending on the lighting situation, 50D looks great, but 500t is equally as nice, just depends on the situation ☺️

    Hello ! You're doing and incredible job with the Krasnogorsk ! I'm about to shoot a short film with the exact same material. I noticed that your rolls are very clean (no light leaks). It's amazing ! Do you have any tips to prevent thoses light leaks ? I've already taped the camera but i think isn't enough. Thanks a lot if you got the time to answer me !

      Probably late to the party but aside from a good tape job I would stay away from the plastic daylight spools, I also load mine in almost pitch black even though they can be loaded In low light
      Hope that helps !

    Great work man. Composition is excellent! Breathtaking shots.
    Do you keep a few second buffer in the beginning of each shot for the initial flare/leak of a new shot?
    What protocols do you follow to avoid light leaks? Where do you tape up?
    And what tripod do you use?

    • @ssimplefilms
      @ssimplefilms  Год назад +1

      Shooting For these couple of videos I wanted to try and sit on a scene for a little longer then a normal cut, so I generally cranked and counted to 5-10 seconds depending on how much I liked the shot. Then in the edit I just trimmed off what I felt was too much.
      I’m not to over the top with taping, aside from the main door around the camera to access and open the inside, but I don’t cover eye pieces or lens between shots to prevent light, because I haven’t had any issues not doing this.
      Tripod for all of these videos was with a photo tripod and a really bad video head on top. Which was a pain.
      But I only just upgraded to and have been shooting recent rolls for future projects on a miller air, boy was that an upgrade I needed long ago especially with a bowl head for levelling haha
