some julian wisdom "everything about our behavior is imitation of things we've seen." "the clothes you wear affects the music you play and it's probably true with your personality and what you say and how you are."
Those two statements don’t contradict each other, they go hand in hand, just worded differently. Clothing influencing you is just another form of imitating behavior you’ve seen. For example, say I dress like rockstar and that influences me to act like one. That sounds like an example of the second statement, but it also counts as an example of the first, because I’m imitating the behavior of rockstars I’ve seen. When he said “the clothes you wear influences your behavior”, he meant “the clothes you wear influences you to imitate the behavior of the people you’ve seen wear those kinds of clothes before.” If wearing wedding band clothes makes me wanna act like a wedding band member, that’s still just imitating behavior I’ve seen. Both statements are about imitation, just the first one is explicit about it, while the other one just implies it

these comments are funny. half of them are complaining about the camera quality and how he speaks / mumbles and the other half are saying “this is the best Julian Casablancas interview ever!” lmao
Comedown Machine is honestly not only the best Strokes album but also one of the best albums ever made in my eyes. The fact that it's low-effort just shows what utter geniuses the boys are. And low-effort doesn't equate to low-quality. Low-effort can just as much mean it just flowed out straight from the heart with not much mind involved. And I think the very reason why Julian to this day struggles with the album is the same reason it's so unreachable at the top for me: It's a struggle album. You can feel the sadness, you can feel the frustration, the resignation, you can feel the longing for functioning together again and you can see glimpses of hope shining trough, like when they just burst out laughing together after the bittersweet hymn that is Slow Animals. Comedown Machine spoke to me more than any other album could in a very dark time and I think it's because it was created in a dark time itself. There's a magic, a bittersweet timbre to it that no other project can replicate. There will never be an album like Comedown Machine again. And that's both heartbreaking and wonderful. CM forever. ❤️
I think the most important thing in this interview, its Julian Casablancas, i mean he is a talented singer and he is a vocalist of the best bands of all time. Anthony mentioned his questions at the end of the interview. I'm sure Anthony wanted to ask the singer his own questions, however he mentioned some of his questions to Julian and that shows his affection for his subscribers. As for Julian's camera, I have no problem. He is a kind artist and he dedicated an hour of his time to answer questions and for me that is more important. Anthony had a professional posture and never made Julian feel uncomfortable. I felt a natural friendship. among them. I hope you could one day do an in-person interview with Julian. I felt the vibes of natural friends.
the new abnormal will always be my soundtrack of early quarantine/outdoor walks when gyms were closed.
CM forever. ❤️

Julian looks like he’s coming from Tyranny album cover.

Wow the first half of the interview seemed really tough but Anythony was able to keep Julian engaged and it turned out great 😄
I think the most important thing in this interview, its Julian Casablancas, i mean he is a talented singer and he is a vocalist of the best bands of all time.
Rick Rubin is so flipping versatile. His list of artists and genres is pretty impressive.
There’s no way that camera angle was easier to get than just setting his phone up which would’ve been 8 times better
“When something looks cool it makes you play cooler” literally something I would say
43:55 on daft punk: "idk i think theyre like not doing music right now...?" 😭😭😭
the new abnormal will always be my soundtrack of early quarantine/outdoor walks when gyms were closed. Which is wild, considering Is This It and Room On Fire were my soundtrack for college, and The Voidz were the soundtrack for grad school (grad school got weird). Great interview Melon, probably the best one I've seen Julian give.
The real question is when are we getting a new Nardwuar+Strokes interview
SMELL THE GLOVE!!!!
goodness me i repressed those memories
ize of the world is still my fav song from them
drinking game: take a shot everytime julian says "you know"
I've noticed that "you know" has become the new "like".
why is it so hard to understand what anthony is asking like it just completely goes in one ear and out the other for me. he’ll finish asking a question and i’ll just be like “what the fuck did he just say?”
Julian is the definition of jaded we love to see it
I’m sick of people always talking about how depressed Julian is. Dude is just introverted and doesn’t like explaining shit to other people. Hardcore INTJ/INTP vibes.
That would make sense, he sounds a lot like me when I’m trying to talk, i.e, I get so distractedddd
Definitely! It is annoying just like people questioning how "clean" he looks etc. Yes that is an interesting convo, I can definitely see him as INTP/INTJ or also like ISFP/ISFJ
he's an INFP. his Fi is strong as hell
