I think the Therizinosaurus scene was so good for many reasons:
    1. It featured a dino that was barely shown in advertising.
    2. It wasn't the usual fast-paced explosive action. It was slow and suspenseful.
    3. Aggressive herbivore. Something severely lacking in animal-related media as a whole.

Responding to one of the notes: The Indominus removed the tracker because it was probably uncomfortable, especially if it shocked her when she got close to a fence. It would’ve been been able to do that in captivity, because they would’ve just kept putting one in. Even Owen just says she remembered it being put in, not that it knew what a tracker was.

Yeah I think that’s what happened too, when the tracker was activated it irritated the I Rex, so she scratched it out. However, the audience will take the characters anthropomorphic interpretations at face value. Owen’s theory is stupid. You don’t just need intelligence to remove a tracker, you need knowledge too. Even a human raised in the same conditions as the I Rex wouldn’t be able to disable the tracker, as they wouldn’t know what it was.

    There are three main things,
    1. Give each character a reason to be in the plot and not just riding along with the plot. Give them character development, grant leaning to love kids more, we should have gotten Ian learning to become a parent, and more, and ellie deciding to go into the bunker to turn on the power.
    2. Don’t show to many dinosours, do at least 7 dinosours a movie and 3 new ones each movie, while taking some out from the original seven. Ans make sure these dinosours are more like creatures, they don’t fight just because. Instead we could get a fight between eating the humans seeing them both struggle to snatch a bite.
    3. ADD suspense, build up to each creature. I wish we saw a big spine sticking out of the water before the spinosoures came out. I wish we had more suspense like Ellie turning on the fences as we see group 1 on it.

Regarding the scale, the first couple seasons of camp cretaceous did this really well. In fact, it even did the thing about discovering secrets about masrani and stuff. Till halfway through the second season, two main characters were seriously thought to be dead. Before tye reveal about their survival, a couple episodes were given to show the effects, the guilt of the others. Then it all went to shit when they got to the other island but the first couple seasons? Chefs kiss

I think what ends up being linked to item 5, although it can be done on a large scale, is to have a script that makes more sense.
Every film, to some degree, has illogical acts, because "otherwise there would be no film".
The JP trilogy has stories that unfold logically, the first two JW work from error to error.
JWD even improves on this, but it almost became an international spy film in which there are dinosaurs.

    1. Make them like Jurassic Park again.
    2. Add more horror and less cheap jokes
    3. Make the dinosaurs behave more like animals and less like Pokemon. Rexy and blue doing some sort of stupid tag team? What?
    4. Less Rexy
    5. Don't command the damn dinos
    6. Give us scene where we're scared. Scared for the characters instead of the MC putting up his hands and stopping the dino or having a character screaming to make things seem funny
My favorites scenes were with the two Trex rampaging throught the city and the one where the Spino was chasing people around.

I published an IG post like two days ago and I'm happy to say that we agreed on basically everything. I don't want to sound overly nasty - I enjoy the first two Jurassic World movies after all - but gosh, stuff needs to be corrected. First of all, I agree with the idea of coming back to something smaller in scale, with the darker, survival horror(ish) atmosphere that characterised the first trilogy, not the bombastic, action packed scenarios we've seen with the second one (especially in Dominion). I think that the smaller dinosaur cast too can be considered as an element playing in favour of a smaller scale; this is an aspect almost everyone seems to forget, but I've been saying that constantly after JWD: quality>quantity. I don't want to sound like a downer, however as you said, while it can be fun to have such a wide cast exploring so many different taxa, there's no point in having it if 90% of the animals are going to be ignored (eg. Iguanodon or Oviraptor) or wasted (Quetzalcoatlus or Pyroraptor). So yeah, I'm for less dinosaurs. Not just that, but I say that for now the franchise should focus on the tons of animals we already have, instead of adding more and more of them. There are many species which could do great with more space, like the aforementioned ones from JWD, let's exploit them before we move onto something else. Finally, I completely, totally, absolutely agree with the designs' point. When I complain about some artistic choices, I get automatically answered by many people "these are movies, they're not demanded to be scientifically valid!" You perfectly encapsulated my thoughts in one single phrase: being unscientific doesn't excuse ugly designs. In all honesty btw, talking about dinosaur medias in general, I think having some more accuracy in dinosaurs' portrayals would be great. Subjectively speaking, I will always prefer them to whatever Hollywood will ever come up with, but also objectively, I think that a more updated view on dinosaurs in cinema (like many games are doing) would be something incredibly fresh and original, other than educational. As always, sorry for the huge wall of text people😂
PS: I'm glad you pointed out how the franchise needs to stop using the T. rex as a punching bag for other theropods in those Marvel-ish battles. Tyrannosaurus doesn't need to fight with always new bigger badder carnivores to be an awesome animal. Leave Rexy alone

How to make a good Jurassic Park movie.
Step 1:Add focus to dramatic tension between characters. It adds a bit of suspense waiting for the dinos to start killing people, makes the deaths and survivals later much more satisfying, and elevates it from just being standard action movie
Step 2:Bring back practical effects for dinos. Not for every dino in every scene, just a splash of it sometimes in critical moments
Step 3:Make the dinos act somewhat like animals. In the original you could totally pet the smaller herbivores, the velociraptors were slightly smarter than my pet cats with their smartest moment being able to open doors, and even Lost World had TRex protecting their baby. When you turn them into monsters with the intelligence of a human then they aren’t dinosaurs anymore and could be replaced with any other monster and the movie would stay the same
Step 4:Very slight focus on politics of the park for a bit of world building. How did they get the funding for this after 6 terrible incidents? What safety measures do they take now? Do they actually care about the dinos or is it just profit? What is the park’s plan for if a breakout occurs? Etc.
If you follow these steps you can turn any bad Jurassic Park movie into a good one

Stop giving the characters plot armor to survive literally everything. There's no stakes because you know the main characters are too valuable for hollywood marketing to die. In the original JPs and Lost World, characters got injured frequently if not outright killed, regardless of whether they were main characters or ones we spent less time with, and that really keeps you on the edge of your seat

I hope we get a Jurassic Franchise movie where some humans and some dinos are working together; humans pack bond with absolutely effing ANYTHING, why is there no cases of humans and dinos co-existing except in the Black Market during Dominion, where it's not even cooperative co-existence? Why are there no cases of a troodon adopting a human family because it's smart enough to figure out that not attacking humans is a good way to get food and affection? No instances of one of the massive marine reptiles like the Mosasaurus deciding it likes a random ship and decides to act like it has found a pod-mate? A Pteranodon that has decided it likes the nice humans who leave food out for it, so it brings them random shiny crap it finds, like an enormous crow?

I think another point on scale thats important is the scale of the physical space of the films. Even though I enjoyed the first jurassic world I felt like the scale of the park and the island was all off. I was super excited to see the park actually funcitoning and the film tried to show that but instead it sort of fell flat. The park didnt seem big enough or spread out enough and it seemed like it was too easy for characters to get from one place to the other. The great thing about the first movie was that it showed how spread apart eveything was. Grant and the Kids had to travel for hours to get from one side of the park back to the control center. Nedry got lost driving through the forest towards the docks. For the first movie it just seemed like it was too easy for characters to get back and forth, even though they had cars. Characters drive from the IRex enclosure back to the control room so frequently. Specifically the scenes with all the paddock gates lined up. Why are they so close together?
I totallt agree with your points about scaling back the numbe of dinos and having more quality over quantity. I think the second and third films really suffered from this.

What the franchise desperately needs is a good script. Which we didn't have after maybe second movie

The Therizinosaurus and the Dimetrodon pack had the best "species specific" scenes in Dominion. As in, having a new animal feature in a scene based on its own merits rather than "insert x theropod." Examples being the pachy capture from TLW (where the head ramming behavior of the new species was showcased) the pterosaur feeding frenzy (introduces multilayered threats based on the two species present) and the spinosaur boat attack from JP3 (novel in that its swimming ability from the fossil record was displayed.) The therizinosaur and the dimetrodontids were given such scenes. The other introduced animals (big offenders being the pyroraptors, atrociraptors, quetzalcoatlids, giganotosaur) could have been easily replaced with any similar animal.

If they make a new saga I think it would be better to make it an anthology, with a new cast for each film. One of the problems with Jurassic World was constantly wanting to bring back the characters of Claire and Owen when their relevance ended with the first film. Resulting with having the two main characters whith no character arc in the sequels and their presence and their exposure to new conflicts seems very contrived.
Also I think we need to focus again on having a statement, a message. And then add the dinosaurs to the story as a force of nature supporting or contradicting this statement. We must not make dinosaurs as characters but as amoral entities just like in the first film and the classics of the genre (Alien, Jaws).
At last I do think they need to reduce the scale, fewer dinosaurs (why not having 100% new dinos, I think we are ready for a Jurassic film without T.rex or Velociraptor since we already got six movies with them), a smaller cast but endearing and the feeling that anyone can die to add suspense. No longer go for “bigger = better”, new threats can be unexpected dinosaurs, humans or even just a natural event. A global story doesn't work for Jurassic World, the dinosaurs are not Kaiju or Tsunami, we can't make people feel a global threat is coming from them on a film (in a series why not). That's my advices.
