It needed another big carnivore (like the carno or something) and the pteranodon sequence that was abandoned. It became a bit too T-rex heavy. The only moment I really do not like is the Kelly gymnastics scene, it's just a bit too much. The raptor could have jumped after her, with her dodging it in time and it crashed through the wall, impaling itself... instead of her kicking it through a wall.
Dominion ended up being the only movie out of all 6 where I was just like... "I am straight up not having a good time. This is stupid." The nostalgia baited a little (way) too close to the sun on that one. Jurrasic World was a semi-reboot, so I could forgive them going "hey remember this?" Calling it dull is absolutely ridiculous. I find it way more intense than movie 1, and most kills look terrifying. But hey, RUclips reviewers are like 20 and watch that stuff on their phone.
Having grown up on this franchise I have never paid to see a Jurassic Park movie and I never will, I'll probably die before they ever stop making them.
33:44 do you not realize that there are over 500 species of dinosaur that we know of? They did not run out, they just wanted to do something unique, which is something that you wished they would do more. But when they do something unique, if it’s not attached to a masterpiece of filmmaking, it’s a waste of time and money. It’s just incredibly hard to win with film critics, because they want something unique, but the same, so it’s almost impossible for a sequel to be “good”
I agree with everything said in the video. One thing I'd expand upon is that the original movie was a cinematic acheivement that in my opinion was unmatched (at least within sci fi) until Dune 2. The realization of the dinosaurs was both a pinnacle of practical effects and our INTRODUCTION to the possibilities of CGI. On top of that, paleontology and dinosaurs were a topic of great imagination with a lot of creative effort going into the topic even before Jurassic Park came out. It was both a brand new visual paradigm and it met a cultural moment that I think declined through the 90s. The much better path for the studio to capitalize on Jurassic Park would actually have been to have Spielberg bring Dinotopia to life the way he did Jurassic Park.
Nah, the 1st,2nd,3rd and Jurassic world are genuinely good movies all be it having flaws, they are appreciated more but fallen kingdom and dominion are just confusing movies. I got annoyed when the movies started treating the raptors like puppies, is blue genetically supposed to be weak? Or not act like an animal? There have been multiple times where blue should have attacked and mualed Owen or random people because it’s a predator. The movies don’t feel dangerous as the raptors did in the original movies. Hell, even the raptors in the third movie was terrifying but now these movies feel like a cartoon, the freaking cartoons such as camp Cretaceous feel more dangerous than the movies now.
Whenever I see scenes of JP1 I'm like "Man this movie is SO GOOD." It has pacing you will NEVER see these days since everything has to be 3 hours. However, I grew up with JP2 and fed on all the marketing (games, two comics, behind the scenes material, toys etc.) and have higher nostalgia for that one. Also I loved the tiger striped Raptors in JP2.

@@dark_antihero They didn't with E.T. or Barbie. However, they stopped making Back the Futures and Jaws for some reason despite being perfect nostalgia-bait.
No, it's garbage... the first half of the story is a blatant rehash, only more fake feeling and with bland characters and the rest is just hero dinosaur vs evil dinosaur... which is stupid. The cgi is also very bad in this movie... there is a ton of it so some shots are gonna be good but a lot is terrrible... those raptors the first time we see them? Yikes. The greenscreen, artificial lighting isn't doing the cgi any favors.
The most amazing thing about the original is they went into production with no idea how they were going to make the dinosaurs look real. I had assumed Spielberg was willing to try it because of new CGI tech he was confident could make it look realistic.
I will never tolerate hate toward The Lost World. In my mind that movie is up there with Aliens and Terminator 2 as a perfect movie sequel. Jurassic Park 3 is more a product of studio interference than a lust for money, much like Alien 3. I agree though. What I want is new ideas. There are a million stories to tell when you have living dinosaurs, but they keep telling the same one. I was honestly surprised that they were going for another functioning park when I saw the trailer for JW. Hybrids aren't new enough of a concept to warrant three more movies. Give us something truly new.

In response to Jeff Goldblum’s character portrayal of Malcom in The Lost World JP, I mean I would be pretty much against anything living dinosaur related and almost petrified of going to an island full of them if I just narrowly escaped the death jaws of a 8-ton apex super predator like T-Rex just a few years prior to the events of the sequel film….I think anyone in that situation would be absolutely saying stuff like “uhhh uhhh that’s a bad idea.” Take it from someone (aka Malcolm) who saw it firsthand, Jeff Goldblum portrayed the role amazingly well I feel like, and I honestly really loved TLW JP and it’s one of my absolute favorites even despite the massive amount of scenes that don’t make sense and leave major plot holes.
@@outsideintel I'm new to your channel and I've subscribed, I think your videos are really good. One TV show I think would be good for you to do. A show that had a long painful death is the Simpsons.
Hey the first two were awesome. Saw them in the cinema when we were 12 and 14 respectively. At the time, Lost World was incredible visually and felt like good storytelling. Really at the time nothing else had come close to this.
First one is a bona fide masterpiece of blockbuster cinema, perhaps the greatest "popcorn flick" ever made. Second one is wholly unnecessary and meh. The rest are shit.
Personally. I think the movie is better. In the book, it’s just like “now we’re gonna find a raptor nest”. Although the story was longer, it felt more tacked together than the movie. Furthermore, the violence in the book feels more like it’s trying to be dark, compared to the movie which felt more story driven and not just violence for violence.
I like a lot of elements from the book, but there were way too many "convenient" moments (i.e. Muldoon's tranquilizer knocking the rex out right before it ate Tim, there being a hidden supply of neurotoxin grenades that nobody knew about, the smaller rex distracting the bigger rex right before it reached Grant's boat).
u mustve seen the wrong film thinking that one was the book adaptation. uProbably watched Trassic Park or Jurassic Ark or something. because to think that a bunch pages w/ some ink on them, is superior to Steven Spielberg with a camera.... While l’ve grown to appreciate Jurassic Park 3 more over the years as l’ve witnessed the World franchise train wreck, in my opinion it is not the best Park sequel.
While I was suffering through the second part of Jurassic World, my neck was already getting weary from shaking my head, and my forehead was red and swollen from a *lot* of face palming. But I managed to watch until the last scenes. It was hard, but I managed to "swallow" all that nonsense. And then, within those last scenes, within the last few *minutes* they made it. They *broke* me. That whole: "Oh, poisonous gas is killing the dinosaurs, let's open their *cage* doors, to let *them* out, and *not* open the huge gate first, to let the *gas* escape", to: "They are like me, they should be free", without any of the two adults even *trying* to argue with the kid, that this might actually be a bad idea, to mindlessly opening said huge gate, and release a bunch of huge, primeval beasts into a populated area, to: "Oops - now they're gone. I guess, the world is going to be different from now on..", with no further actions being taken by the protagonists, to the final *audacity* of the makers: to try to sell this as kind of an "happy end"!?! That did it for me. I was flabberghasted. I had a nonsense overload and just couldn't take it no more. I watched this movie on free tv, but I still have the feeling I want my money back! (To cite a great YT film critic). Never watched the third film, and never will.
@@outsideintel Thank you, ❤️ and: Keep on yelling! Such stupid flicks really *deserve* to be yelled at!! There is something that I call a "Ja, weil auch" moment, which is something me a and an ex-boyfriend of mine used to have. We watched a movie together, a huge plot-hole or logical mistake appears, and one of us just had to say: "Ja, weil auch!", and we both knew what the other one meant. (Like, *of course* a human can outrun a pyroclastic flow!, and other things that "actually make sense, if you don't think about it!") Nowadays, I don't have the bf anymore, but I've still got the same thing with my sister. The sad thing about this is, there's nothing special about it, like having a very good mental or emotional connection to the person I have such moments with. As long as anyone has more than two brain cells to rub together, they will automatically stumble over these mistakes, and, after too many of them, start to speak about them. (Let's face it: There is a biological limit to eye-rolling. After a while, it just *hurts* 😉.) And movies like Fallen Kingdom are just too packed with such moments, until the very end, and that's why what was meant to entertain, finally becomes just annoying. 🙄
Edit: Among the last, but not the least: Hello David, I'm pleased to meet you! I am Ute. 👋🏻 And there are two more things I need to add, that are part of my rant, but do not concern the Fallen Kingdom. To be precise, there are a lot more things to add, but I already wrote too much in my comments. Let's therefore take the first two things that came to my mind. 1.: Jurassic World. Did they really have to feed a great white shark to the Mosasaurus? They are a rare, very important species, and have to become very old to be this big. And they don't even remotely have any sufficient nutritional value to sustain the body of the Mosasaurus. So, what's the purpose of this "show" feeding? Sensationalism. This movie was released in 2015, ffs, they are not going to tell me that they never heard how important it is to preserve sharks? 🤦🏻♀️ (Or are we going to blame this on the audience, too?) 2. The Tomorrow War. The "Why?" and "Of course" moments chased each other in this flick. But one of my most favorite was the one when our main protagonist kicked the mother alien in the face, and it retreated. *Of course* these indestructible beasts do have the alien equivalent of the "glass chin" some boxers have, just that it located in their snouts! 🙄
I hated the desperate callbacks in the Jurassic World sequels. It was so forced especially in Fallen Kingdom. The way the characters were hunched over hiding from the Indoraptor, to the way it was running down the hallway to get to the mini elevator, and how it was tapping its claws in Maisie’s bedroom.. all just to call back to the kitchen scene in Jurassic Park.
Jurassic World was awesome. That and the first one, Jurassic Park, are the only good ones Also. Why do people care about product placement? Oh no, I saw someone drink a coke in a movie; oh no, I saw a Mercedes! I never went and bought a car after watching a movie. The fact people bitch about product placement is what gives it so much attention
Casual take. Jurassic Park 3 is lean and doesn’t overstay its welcome. Lost World is a bloated corporate mess of ideas that were made on a whim, quickly, and cheaply. And nothing in Jurassic Park 3 comes close to the heinous crime of having a girl beat velociraptors with gymnastics.
Honestly it’s not too bad, jp3 has a message although it is just about family and love. But the lost world has the same message as the first film with Ian not growing at all and doesn’t have any other interesting subplot unless you really enjoy the gymnastic girls relationship with ian
There all crap! Once you see the groundbreaking special FX and the dinosaurs (especially the T- REX) brought to life on the big screen in the first one, then thats it. Its not even that good of a survival film. Before the CGI to bring the dinosaurs to life, all we had before that was, stop motion figures in B movies from the 60s and early 70s. So apart from the novelty of seeing dinosaurs done in a modern way in jurassic park, thats the only good part of the film. The only one i didn't mind that much was the second movie.
The Lost World is my favorite of the franchise because it was the first one I saw. I will say, it’s easier to appreciate the film when looking at is as a remake of the 1920s Lost World rather than a sequel to Jurassic Park.
Michael Crichton was such a hack that he didn't just write "The Lost World" to create the sequel movie, he even retconned the fates of Ian Malcolm and John Hammond from the original book!
This was a good watch! Personally I think they should have stopped after The Lost World, and I was hoping they'd stop now after Dominion, but it looks like even more are on the way.
Many thanks! And yeah it’s even more infuriating they’re making more since Trevorrow said in an interview recently that Jurassic Park is “unfranchisable” and should never have had any sequels 😑
@@outsideintel I'm convinced he only said that because in reality he's just an inept bait & switch hack who got lucky with Jurassic World and the success for it all just went to his head.
SERIOUSLY THIS FRANCHISE JUST NEEDS TO DIE AND HAVE A REAL ACTUAL REINVENTION NOT JUST A REMAKE! We just need a new and fresh adaptation of it that is true to the novel and rated R. I remember reading the book years ago and it was very violent and scary. From the very beginning this franchise has been inhibited by its PG-13 family friendly tone even though they did have some pretty dark moments scattered throughout the films I feel like it could be so much better especially now since r-rated movies are making more money ever since Deadpool
At the ending of Jurassic World, they should have had the Velociraptor and Tyrannosaurus Rex fist bump and then go their separate ways. That's what I thought was going to happen as I was watching this in theaters.
It was way too childish at times, no dinosaur shown in openingscene (come on, this is the third movie), the parents are insufferable (they diss the dead Ben guy 3 times eventhough he saved their kid), Charlie dancing to Barney, Talking raptor, jungle boy, the numerous fade transitions between scenes (12!!!!) TLW had 0 and JP had 1... The setpieces and dinosaurs were overall great though.
While I personally disagree with your assertion that the first film is 'better than the book', I fully concede that it is a very valid point of debate, as both the novel and the film are excellent in their own ways; I simply happen to prefer the more brutal, no-holds-barred approach of the former. To claim, however, that Jurassic Park III is 'more watchable' than _The Lost World_ and that it 'bests it on several fronts' is simply nonsensical. I cannot, of course, comment on any of the films beyond _JPIII,_ as they do not exist.
Making Wu a mad scientist was a good idea I think. It paved the way for him to absolutely kill it as Dr. Hugo Strange in the Gotham tv show, just chewing all of the scenes!

I still love all the movies no matter what anybody’s opinion is same with Camp Cretaceous. I still love it no matter the flaws.❤
33:44 do you not realize that there are over 500 species of dinosaur that we know of? They did not run out, they just wanted to do something unique, which is something that you wished they would do more. But when they do something unique, if it’s not attached to a masterpiece of filmmaking, it’s a waste of time and money. It’s just incredibly hard to win with film critics, because they want something unique, but the same, so it’s almost impossible for a sequel to be “good”
How on earth is Jurassic World already 10 years old??
It turns 10 next year
Loving your guys videos! Excellent stuff.
Many thanks! 🙏
In what universe is Chris Pratt 'douchey'?
Of all the creeps and hypcrites in Hollywood, hes probably the only likeable person there.
Jurassic World is a fun ass movie. I’ll die on this hill
12:39 WTH?!? Thank God they didn't go with that idea!!
It's hard to believe actual people are out here writing scripts like that...and actually getting paid actual money for it.
Might as well just make a Dino Riders movie instead.

I was sold until you said the movie was better than the book. Highly disagree. That book is top tier. I've read the book over 10 times front and back.
Seeing the cast of JW reverently circling around a single decapitated allosaurus head kind of says it all
3:30 sorry but no. Its not even fair to compare them. Yes the movie is your staple summer blockbuster with some heart. But the book is another beast all together.
huh... I thought The Lost World was better than Jurrassic Park 3
"Just like a cuttle fish" LOL
do i am the only one who thinks and believes the '93 film should have been a single movie instead of a franchise?.
Do you really expect hollywood not to cash in on a massive hit?
And not get The Lost World? No thanks
@@dark_antihero They didn't with E.T. or Barbie. However, they stopped making Back the Futures and Jaws for some reason despite being perfect nostalgia-bait.
Love this series. I still contend that the first Jurassic World is a good movie. Maybe not great, but good
No, it's garbage... the first half of the story is a blatant rehash, only more fake feeling and with bland characters and the rest is just hero dinosaur vs evil dinosaur... which is stupid. The cgi is also very bad in this movie... there is a ton of it so some shots are gonna be good but a lot is terrrible... those raptors the first time we see them? Yikes. The greenscreen, artificial lighting isn't doing the cgi any favors.
This just made me realize, what happened to Hammond’s grandchildren?
And Ludlow’s
The most amazing thing about the original is they went into production with no idea how they were going to make the dinosaurs look real. I had assumed Spielberg was willing to try it because of new CGI tech he was confident could make it look realistic.
nah i can't stand for the Lost World slander lol
I will never tolerate hate toward The Lost World. In my mind that movie is up there with Aliens and Terminator 2 as a perfect movie sequel. Jurassic Park 3 is more a product of studio interference than a lust for money, much like Alien 3. I agree though. What I want is new ideas. There are a million stories to tell when you have living dinosaurs, but they keep telling the same one. I was honestly surprised that they were going for another functioning park when I saw the trailer for JW. Hybrids aren't new enough of a concept to warrant three more movies. Give us something truly new.
Jurassic Park, the movie, is better than Jurassic Park the book? Are you NUTS?!?! Movie is great, to be sure, but better than the book? No way!
After a lot of thinking JURASSIC PARK /// May actually be my favourite sequel.
I'll never understand the hate for Chris Pratt
Politics, it's because he's not a brain dead lefty like 99% of Hollywood. He's talked before about being denied roles and being treated like trash because he's not all about pushing identity politics.
he left his wife because they have a disabled son and she didn't want more kids. Drama king much
Not too mention the crap they say about him today, had zero bearing on when World was coming out in 2015. There was a time when CHRIS PRATT was just Chris Pratt... But try explaining that to these idiots.
If he did this when dominion came out, man it would’ve been so sad to see the true rock bottom of the franchise highlighted…
You deserve a lot more views, the video is very good and entertaining

I think the novel Jurassic Park is better than the movie. Spielberg didn't amp it up, he dumbed it down and sanitized it for kids.
I think the dialogue and flow is better in the film, but I love the book and og script by Rick Carter.
And that was what Crichton wanted to write originally
Saying the movie is better than the book have you lost your bloody mind?
They're right.
Read it easily ten times as a kid. Picked up a copy a couple years back, and oh boy, the writing is just god awful.
The book's biotech stuff has dated very poorly and the chaos theory was mumbo jumbo even then.
I like a lot of elements from the book, but there were way too many "convenient" moments (i.e. Muldoon's tranquilizer knocking the rex out right before it ate Tim, there being a hidden supply of neurotoxin grenades that nobody knew about, the smaller rex distracting the bigger rex right before it reached Grant's boat).
u mustve seen the wrong film thinking that one was the book adaptation.
uProbably watched Trassic Park or Jurassic Ark or something.
because to think that a bunch pages w/ some ink on them,
is superior to Steven Spielberg with a camera....
Do uThink that type of modification is easy?
or cheap?
Do uKnow any other director who concurrently shoot Jurassic Park & Schlinders List,
And then have a night like he had at the oscars the next year?
Because if he can iWould love to see him try.
Deserves a sub just for that "explains a lot" clip of Trevorrow banging two dino toys into each other. 😆 Sad at the reveal of how much Spielberg is to blame for the crappy storylines though, damn. Great video!
Yeah he has some really goofy ideas occasionally, but he’s just so candid about it you can’t stay mad at him. Spielberg has the heart of a child, but Trevorrow has the mind of a child.
@@outsideintel Great RUclips video and channel, but I found the background music was too loud and distracting. I would strongly suggest you get rid of it altogether. I firmly believe that background music is distracting, annoying, and unnecessary (especially for educational or opinionated videos with lots of talking). I also believe that people want to hear you speak/get information/hear your opinions and not hear generic background music that doesn't really add anything useful and that people have to mentally filter out. Plus it will be one less thing you will have to do when making videos. Thank you.
Fallen Kingdom & Dominion were the only garbage storylines.
JW storyline was tolerable but still had considerable issues (imo). All 3 movies had potential, but... 😮💨

TURNS OUT THE CONCERNS ARE VALID - the most true thing about any scifi movie ever
Couldn't agree more! I was yelling at the screen by the end of Fallen Kingdom lol
- David
@@outsideintel Thank you, ❤️ and: Keep on yelling! Such stupid flicks really *deserve* to be yelled at!!
There is something that I call a "Ja, weil auch" moment, which is something me a and an ex-boyfriend of mine used to have. We watched a movie together, a huge plot-hole or logical mistake appears, and one of us just had to say: "Ja, weil auch!", and we both knew what the other one meant. (Like, *of course* a human can outrun a pyroclastic flow!, and other things that "actually make sense, if you don't think about it!")
Nowadays, I don't have the bf anymore, but I've still got the same thing with my sister.
After a while, it just *hurts* 😉.)
And movies like Fallen Kingdom are just too packed with such moments, until the very end, and that's why what was meant to entertain, finally becomes just annoying. 🙄
Edit:
Among the last, but not the least: Hello David, I'm pleased to meet you! I am Ute. 👋🏻
And there are two more things I need to add, that are part of my rant, but do not concern the Fallen Kingdom.
🤦🏻♀️ (Or are we going to blame this on the audience, too?)
The further they got from Crichton, the dumber they got.
@@tabo01 That sums it up perfectly! 👍🏻
Lost world on par with the first film.
3:11 I remember when that used to say "MAY BE closer than they appear" Ah, the Mandela Effect :D hah
Loved Lost World. It's the 2nd best in the Franchise
I'm starting to think Speilberg is overrated. He's made some pretty stupid shit over the years. lol.
Yeah, he lost his touch and keeps doing what worked in the 90s. He approved every Jurassic Park, Indiana Jones sequels, and Ready Player One.
@@Daralexen lol. all straight garbage
Jurassic World was awesome. That and the first one, Jurassic Park, are the only good ones
Also. Why do people care about product placement? Oh no, I saw someone drink a coke in a movie; oh no, I saw a Mercedes! I never went and bought a car after watching a movie.
The fact people bitch about product placement is what gives it so much attention
Jeff Goldblum is too jewey to ever be called "hunky".

Anyone who says Jurassic Park 3 is better than The Lost World automatically lost all credibility as a CRITIC on the internet.........FACTS.
The Lost World is objectively the better film. But JP III is vastly underrated. They're still miles better than the Jurassic World trilogy
@WhiskeyDJones JP3 is not better than the first World movie imo. It pisses on the other two though.
Jp3 got the best raptors and cool ass apex predators the lost world was so boring only good parts of the movie was when the t rex was on screen
The only one i didn't mind that much was the second movie.
...but at what cost? To quote Thanos, "everything."
The Lost World is my favorite of the franchise because it was the first one I saw. I will say, it’s easier to appreciate the film when looking at is as a remake of the 1920s Lost World rather than a sequel to Jurassic Park.
... since when TLW: JP a remake of the 1920's TLW?!

0:22 oh snap Paul from The Wonder Years is a Jurrasic stan too! 👍🏼

At the ending of Jurassic World, they should have had the Velociraptor and Tyrannosaurus Rex fist bump and then go their separate ways. That's what I thought was going to happen as I was watching this in theaters.

JP is Spielberg’s top 5.
JP3 was actually pretty good.
You forgot the best part about JPIII, where the Raptor says, “Alan.” 😂 on par with, “Clever girl.”
The 3rd movie is better than 2nd as much as Alien 3 is better than Aliens.
