    Thank you so much for sharing this information. I am 53 and have just had a short period after not having seen my period in 10 months. A week before I had my annual wellness examination and my doctor informed me that I was well on the way and I was excited to reach the full year of no having no period. What I learned from this video was definitely helpful. Thanks again.

    I am 49 years old, and I went to my GYN doctor in September 2003 since my period was on and off. She gave me a blood test called FSH blood tests. She said I was premenstrual. I have not had hot flashes or any other symptoms that go along with premenopause yet, but your video is incredibly instructive for people like myself who are experiencing this, and I appreciate you for clarifying.

    Thank you for your videos. I went 11 months without a period but I've been spotting on and off for several weeks. It started after my vacation so maybe it was because I was eating and sleeping better. I had a pap test, blood test and a sonogram scheduled but it's so stressful worrying about the results. 😔

    Thank you for this advice. I have had this problem , didn't have a period for 2 years and 4 months and then , I had a light period with a little bit of menstrual cramps maybe for 3 days only . I was really concerned because you always read if you have not had a period for one full year . It said you would be at menopause. So thank you for clearing that up for me .

      We do find it is quite common to come after a year or so which is why we prefer to say menopause is 2 years after the last period. This seems to be more accurate for what many women experience. It is important to stay on top of health checks and cancer screening of course and if you are worried you can always ease your mind by ruling these more severe things out with your doctor.

    I'm 43, my last normal period was Aug 2017. Nothing has happened in all that time. Now, this past week, I had breast tenderness and my thighs ached for a few days. I paid no attention, not thinking of it it. Then came the yolks like discharge,which was surprising to me. Because I haven't seen this in over 2 years. Then bam, my period started this morning. I'm perplexed.. it's like I dont even know my body anymore.

      Hi Chelsea
      This can happen to some women, it could well be a ‘last fling’ by your hormones but it is best to see your doctor as well. They can do a proper physical exam to determine what exactly is happening.

    I had an appointment today, hadn’t been to the gyn in a while. I didn’t have a period for close to a year. I’m 52 and I thought menopause was over. In August, my father, who I lived with, died unexpectedly. I am alone for the first time and have had huge grief and stress. In November, I had spotting, and again the month later along with spotting. This month I have been bleeding for three weeks. The doctor jumped right to suspecting cancer, because along with the bleeding I have had weight loss. I told her twice during the visit that I lost weight because I eat differently and much less. I have an ultrasound scheduled for next week. She did not find any tumors during the exam. I also had a CT scan for a broken hip in October as well as an MRI in July, and neither of those tests showed any tumors. I am really terrified, I can’t even wrap my mind around the idea of having cancer. I really don’t think I can handle much more stress. I have been in self isolation at home and I do nothing but worry anyway.

    • @AvogelCoUk
      @AvogelCoUk  4 года назад +1

      Hi Dawn
      I am so sorry to hear of all your recent stress; we do know that any emotional or physical stress can have a huge impact on the hormones and periods. I hope that your appointment well well and that you have had a positive result back. Do let me know how you get on.

      A.Vogel UK I have a transvaginal ultrasound scheduled tomorrow. The doctor heard my story and then said she was concerned about cancer. She did not see or feel any tumors. She said that she was concerned that the bleeding is coming from my uterus and that I lost weight. She said this twice. I twice told her that I lost weight after my father’s death from grief and from eating smaller portions and healthier foods, and that I lost in average about one pound a week, which is a healthy weight loss. It’s not “unexplained “ weight loss. She told me that I should suspect cancer and be happy if it isn’t. She said not to worry, they will take out my uterus and I will be fine. I am really terrified now. I am partly shocked that she would speak that way but also scared that I should be prepared for the worst. It will likely be another week before I know anything. The stress is horrible. Between the pandemic, the riots in my city, and this, I really don’t know how much stress I can take.

    • @AvogelCoUk
      @AvogelCoUk  4 года назад +2

      Hi Dawn
      Good luck for tomorrow. I am sometimes horrified by the way some doctors talk to their patients causing more fear and anxiety; this is such a stressful time for you without having to deal with this!

      My case is kind of similar. I got a full period on my 57th birthday after 15 months of no periods. Then another one less than two weeks later. Then no period for 6.5 months. Then another three, one each month. I have had hysteroscopy and dilation and curettage and biopsies taken. It found thickening in only part of the endometrial lining and thinning in the rest - atrophy. No abnormalities found anywhere and no hormonal activity in the endometrium. Yet I feel like I am still experiencing hormonal fluctuation symptoms. I am now going to have a hysterectomy as my doctor has said we don’t want anymore bleeding at my age.

    Hi, thanks for these useful information. I have always had regular period like clock work however due to a stressful situation, bullying at work it almost felt my body went into shock, it impacted my mental health and my hair was shedding a lot. During that time, my period became slightly irregular ie few days late so I put it down to stress.
    My doctor signed my off work, everything starting as normal. When I turned 50 in 2021 period was still regular, ovulation normal, this continued until my 51st birthday (still signed off work due to stress) however this time I noticed my periods would be missing for 2-3 months at a stretch. I was still getting healthy discharge etc. When I turned 51 last year,
    I noticed after 2-3 months of no period then it came back as normal (slightly heavier) lasted 5 days as normal. I haven’t seen my period since October last year and I am confused- surely this can’t be it? I honestly want my period back! I will be 52 in a few months time and have missed 5 periods so far. Is my missing period due to stress? I honestly don’t want my period to stop yet and does menopause just start so suddenly?

    • @AvogelCoUk
      @AvogelCoUk  Год назад

      Hi Jennife
      The average age to start the menopause is 45-55 so you are well within the normal range for this to happen. Yes, the menopause can often start this way; many women find that their periods just stop suddenly and don't come back. However, if you're worried at all, please do speak to your doctor to see what they say.

      As your ovaries wind down in the menopause they very often shrink and stop working; this is called atrophy. This usually means that ovulation stops so periods will be less likely.

    Doctor please what happen to a woman of 48years just finished her month of December period between 7-9 and on 28 she saw blood again for 2day and stop, 4 day later she experience it again this happen on and off . Please can this be a symptom of menopause and how long will this take to stop?

    • @AvogelCoUk
      @AvogelCoUk  5 лет назад

      Considering your age and the symptoms you are experiencing it’s quite likely that this could be linked with the approach to the menopause. Generally our periods can become a little more irregular before eventually stopping altogether and this is quite normal. However, if you are worried about how your symptoms are progressing you might want to have a check up with the doctor.

    I just turned 55. This is the second time I went 8 months without a period and now it just came back out of the blue. I had an ultrasound done last time. I had a biopsy done at the office & was fine etc but I have one small polyp and a small cyst. I chose to leave it for now. Made more health changes.
    I just lost 12 lbs in two months by intermittent fasting and juicing celery & other vegetables etc. I have eaten organic & gluten free for years but I just gave up sugar etc and now my period comes back. It is very light. I Wear one pad all day so am worried is it the polyp causing this? Because it is 10 days of this. I will wake up with nothing and then have spotting again. Last time it happened it was light for two weeks and then got very heavy so I went to the gynecologist.
    My emotions are crazy. I feel very down and unbalanced & tired. I take iron etc.
    I was feeling great & energetic for 8 months and now I am a different person. 2 months before this started I was having cramps and sore breasts on and off (when I started eating better) so I knew something was up. Just Totally unexpected. Will it ever end? Should I worry? Is it okay I have it over a week now?

      Hi VidaMM
      Although this can happen and may just be a 'last fling' by the hormones, it is important to speak to your doctor, especially if the bleeding continues. They should be able to give you something to stop the bleeding and also check that other factors such as fibroids or a prolapse and not contributing to this.

    • @AvogelCoUk
      @AvogelCoUk  5 лет назад +4

      If hormones rise enough due to improved diet or ‘happiness’ this can trigger a hormonal cycle and when the hormones dip (the same as they would before a normal period) this can trigger a period without ovulation. This isn’t a common scenario but, over the years, we have heard of this a number of times and the ladies involved had had thorough health checks to make sure there was no other reason.

    • @AvogelCoUk
      @AvogelCoUk  3 года назад

      Hi Cynthia
      If you have had no periods for so long it is unlikely that fresh bleeding is due to a resurgence of your cycle, unless you have recently taken some form of hormonal supplement or had hormonal treatment.
      Spontaneous bleeds can be due to fibroids (benign clumps of fibrous tissue) in the womb; polyps (small, benign tissue growth) in the womb or vagina; a very thick womb lining shedding without hormonal activity; vaginal dryness causing tissue rupture; an endocrine disorder (disturbance of the endocrine glands such as the thyroid) or a urinary tract infection.
      It makes sense to check with your doctor because without knowing the cause it is impossible to treat correctly. If it is a urinary tract infection, for example, it can be cleared up easily with the right treatment. If it is an endocrine disorder it needs to be caught quickly to avoid more complications.

      This can happen to some women but there can be a number of causes such as a last fling by your hormones, a change in diet, excessive exercise or even a sudden shock. However, it is wise to get this checked out by your doctor for a proper diagnosis.

    Well, I haven't had a period in 29 mo 22 days (2 years , 5 mo and 22 days) and just started bleeding again. I'll be 57 in a few months. Trying desparately to get a dr's appt. In the past 2 weeks, I had PMS symptoms for a few weeks and the bad headache right before this started. I feel like this is a real period? So stressed. I'll give an update once I get some answers. 😿😿

      Update: The transvaginal ultrasound came back normal. gyne says "rogue ovulation"...postmenopausal bleeding is most likely to happen within the first 3 years of menopause. It all acted like a period...2 weeks of PMS...bleed pattern like a period, etc. She said it should be a "one and done".....Hopefully this time Aunt Flo will retire to Miami and NEVER come back lol 🤪

      This is a difficult question to answer as it can depend on a number of factors such as what exactly caused the fibroids, how long they have been present and how big they are. I just turned 50 last last october. I went thru menopause and did not have my period for over 1 full year. Suddenly there was bleeding right after a deep tissue massage from a cruise I recently took First , I thought it was just spotting but it was a full blown menstrual period.. This is the 2nd days of the period and its strong flow. Is this normal? your feedback is greatly appreciated! Thank you for your time in advance!

      Hi Quyes
      Severe pressure and manipulation on the womb area could trigger a period, as could having a few days of total relaxation, especially if your life is usually hectic! However, it is important to get this checked out by your doctor as well just to make sure that fibroids or a prolapse are not an issue as these could be 'disturbed' by the massage too.

      If your periods have stopped due to the menopause, you would need to speak to your doctor as our herbal remedies would not be strong enough to bring them back, sorry - you may need some kind of drug treatment. With stress. they may come back once you resolve the stress or take some stress remedies for a little while, but, unfortunately, we don't have anything that would work straight away.

I have not had a period all of this year so seems like miles spotting but no real cycle I guess the new year will be a full year and I'm already looking to try to see if I can get IVF therapy I like to have a cycle again I like to be able to give birth I am 52 and have not had a child but interested now. So much happened in my younger life that didn't allow for me to have a child that now that I'm of a good age and a good mind I like to at least have one of my own. I would look forward and be so happy to see my period come on one last time it's been spotting off and on for 2 years. And it's terrible when you have to deal with vaginal dryness I'm not for sure of taking the hormones to stop the dryness I'm not active and I don't want to deal with the side effects of cancer that it calls is there any recommendations that you would recommend. If this is been a teeter totter aspect of it coming off and sometimes coming on for maybe a month up to two and not come back could this be considered it? 🤷🏼‍♀️🗑️🦃🥰😎🙋🏻‍♀️💯🍷‼️

      Happy Thanksgiving to you too, have a lovely day!
      You are not considered safe from pregnancy until you've not had any periods for two years so there is always the possibility until then but it can be much harder to conceive naturally at this point.
      You could seek the advice of a practitioner such as a Herbalist or Naturopathic doctor who may be able to help, however, going down the IVF route is likely to be the most successful one.
      Good luck on your journey.
