That plastic cover on the charging handle is only there to prevent it from poking through the box during shipping. Take it off. It looks dorky. Haters are gonna hate but the VSKA is a serviceable weapon. Not the best but it’s not priced like the best. It will work if you’re on a budget or just don’t want to spend that much to have an AK. It has passed 5,000 round tests. I think that with this model Century has learned and incorporated improvements based on the problems that surfaced with their earlier products. I subbed just to see what adventures you will have with this rifle, and how well it holds up.
As much experience as I have with firearms I know that form is vastly inferior to function. If a squishy soft cover helps me to get a solid grip on an operating part, I leave it in place. Maybe one day I'll replace my charging handle with a better one, but for now it stays put.
I picked up the red wood VSKA (pronounced "VISHKA" to sound Russian. Lol.) And am a couple hundred rounds into it. (less than 400 probably. I don't really count all the bullets I shoot. ) But have not had a failure yet. I'm quite happy with it. I love handing it to my friends and saying "this is the AK everyone says will blow up in your hands... Still wanna shoot it?" 😂😂😂 No one has turned down a chance to mag dump into a trash pile yet. 😅
I have the exact same one and I love it. Traded in the RAS47 I have in my picture for it even tho I never had any problems with it either. Just wanted to be safe rather than sorry 🤷🏾♂️
The 'double braded' is supposed to be more reliable, but I am not sure why. Such springs should cost more and is why century is not using them. The slant muzzle displaced my groups and you rifle will likely shoot better without it. It is intended to deal with full auto fire and does not happen on legal AKMs and AKs that we have in america. My chinese mak 90 does not have that side scope mounting. I put an ultimak on it for the red dot and the gun is good to go.

Excavator teeth should not be a determining factor for the type of metal that is used. Very much like tires on a car, excavator buckets, are a high wear item specifically the teeth. They are meant to break down so that people replace them instead of utilizing a much harder steel that would last longer. This is not a secret in the construction business.
