It sounds so square, the recognizable riff at the beginning sounds so basic when you put the third note on the down of 3 in a song that’s supposed to be heavily swung. Now the verse, at least they tried to make it swung with the dotted eight sixteenth drum beat however what is the point of a faster swing beat if the entire band is just playing slow melancholy quarter notes. I understand it is meant for a low level band and says in the description that it is a 1.5 level, however even at that the writing seems just lazy. I’ve played early level music meant for early middle school and it may be easy but it can also be interesting. Part of the issue may be the fact that it is an arrangement of a harder piece (all of my middle school songs were original pieces), however After reviewing the score, it is very obvious that there are sections that could be Improved. For example sections where instead of maybe putting some eight notes where they belong, the writer made the whole song quarter note scales up and down the key that vaguely sounds like the original. It may be for beginners however eight notes should not be that scary if you are playing in a middle school concert band. That’s just my opinion however, idk why this ticked me off so much but, it did so here’s my paragraph. (The channel has some great music on it)
Traustey Non existent in this song, which sucks ass cause the piece of friend like me my band played, trombones were the melody, the ones who were singing what Robin laid down for us
The person who arranged this is clearly a clarinet player. Clarinets are great, but definitely not the highlight of this song. Flutes and trumpets are. Get a grip. You made it up! And it suck........
I know this is written for grade 1.5 band, but to make the intro sound so “square” (as others have commented too) just doesn’t sound right. Even if young bands struggle with syncopation, I feel the true intro is so iconic it would be easy for them to learn the rhythm
Play it at 1.25 speed
CheeziSponge too fast
Yesss
That’s how it should be played
It deadass sounds better
how bout x 2
This sounds so dead without the screaming trumpets.
I'm a trumpet ahaha
Jessica Kottke same
Same
Yeah… kinda sad.
I’m playing this in a concert tomorrow night: wish me luck!😀
did you do good?
Evan Lin yup
@@MichaelStahl-if7ms nice
lol I need play that thoo ._.
sameee😅
This piece isn't so jazzy and groovy without the syncopation
Hans Jørgen Holtet this was targeted at beginning bands that probably doesn’t even know the difference between a tie and a slur.
@@Jackietubepro thats why it's so slow!
we're playing this song at our grade 7 band concert
We're playing this at our grade 3 band. Heehee
Im playing this song in MY 7th grade band in 2019. No joke i ctualy am
Same. I am in 7th grade. No joke
Same, in 7th grade
Oh wow. I like play this and in Grade 5
We play this for pep band and I LOVE IT JSKSK THE TEMPO THE EVERYTHING GIVES ME CHILLS WHEN WE PLAY IT
This is ok but could be so much better than what it is. Seems so contrived and almost to proper. Needs to be jazzed up a little bit
It's grade 1.5....
Search "Wayne Bergeron Friend Like Me," and you'll see there is a jazzier version.
Joshua Smith I agree.
well you have to consider that it would sound a little different if a real band was playing it...
Well Ali Baba had them forty thieves

Have some of column A
Try all of column B
I'm in the mood to help you dude

I know people are saying to put it at 1.25x, but actually try 1.5x. It's much closer to the original and sounds a lot better.

what a wonderful piece of music!
This seems really slow...
Vanessa Howard it's for beginner bands....
Play it at 1.25 speed. It's way better
our band plays it much faster
because we are more than an intermediate band-
it’s not really that slow when you play it but my band plays it faster
It sounds so square, the recognizable riff at the beginning sounds so basic when you put the third note on the down of 3 in a song that’s supposed to be heavily swung. I loved playing this in our 8th grade jazz band, except we played it about 1.25x faster.
It is admitably a good arrangement, just speed it up a bit please
Yeah, we played it faster when I played it for band but it sounds awesome anyways!!!
Trombones! Where you at?
Traustey Non existent in this song, which sucks ass cause the piece of friend like me my band played, trombones were the melody, the ones who were singing what Robin laid down for us
muito bom !
*X1,25* 👌
My director gets almost every song from you guys i think i always find the right version from you guys
If that's the case, you guys SUCK! I hate to tell you.,..
love it , just right for my Freestyle on Music with my Horse !!!!
Very nice
How many counts?
Of course it sounds vert simple. But it is written for beginners in bands.
😊
in a real band 99% of what you hear it trumpets
Sounds so weird without the screaming/growling trumpets
Have you guys done a "Selections from Toy Story"? If not, you should.
It's better at 1.5× the speed
Shout out to flutes
Grade 6 band playing this? We are.
Thanks for this
Without the even 8ths it sounds too slow
Bar 58 DOES NOT sound like a LEVEL 1.5
well maybe for flutes
I think it is very good, Just needs to be a little faster, like maybe 190bpm or something.
playin this for our 1st 7th grade concert *we played it a little faster
The person who arranged this is clearly a clarinet player. Clarinets are great, but definitely not the highlight of this song. Flutes and trumpets are. Get a grip. You made it up! And it suck........
2x speed sounds like some cuphead song
it sounds tooo slooowww. at 1.25x speed it sounds better

It’s too slow, I’m having the same problem with my band right now. SPEED IT UP
Trombones are basically silent
do stranger things
No jazzy swing..... And rly slow....
took out the middle eastern vibe and made it polka. no thanks.
