    I remember my dad asking once about what was going on in my head and life and encouraging me to open up. I did. Two days later, be threw it all back in my face and claimed I wasn't depressed, just that I was mad I couldn't "do what I want" after some unpleasant circumstances. It was the final straw in my trust issues. I now open up to no one at all.
    Found out about five years later that he has a ton of narcissistic traits. It really explains a lot about my childhood.

    I’ve had trust issues stemming from my school days in the past, where I dealt with constant bullying from classmates and uncaring staff members who never did anything to stop it no matter how much I complained. As a result, I couldn’t trust people and I still don’t, even when they’re trying to help me.

      When my brother and I were in high school, I would always sit in the back of the bus with a small group of rowdy teens, I would once in a while I have chats with them but mostly keep to my self, this scenario would go on for short days until my brother caught notice of that behavior and informed me that they were never even near any real friends of mine, and they were just using my manipulative kindness against me for laughs.
      To anyone who reads this, let me make this clear.
      Please, PLEASE, Do NOT let anyone take advantage of your manipulation, EVER, don't let what happened to Me, to happen to You.

I think that's why now, I know people like me, but I just can't trust them enough to let them in. That's why I never have deep relationship witch I crave to have. I hope to see a video that teaches how to let people in, because I found it too difficult. Thank you for your videos!!

    I’ve been surrounded by toxic and mismatched marriages in my family, including my parents. Cheating, aggressive behavior, and even abuse have been common, including child abuse that I and my brother experienced as children. As an adult woman, I have trust issues with myself and the idea of romantic relationships. I don’t trust myself around others, seeing how so many people that should’ve been guardians, teachers, and good examples ended up falling short. My brother has also developed trust issues similar to this as well, and I don’t trust him when I have conflicting opinions to his about them, fearing he will take it as a personal attack or that he will become what I perceive as condescending and defensive. It’s hard, and I’m not sure how to break it.

    Combine having parents in a toxic relationship with having Autism, having your own mom teaching you how to mess with people to get what (often she) wants while pretty young, and dealing with various therapy from before you remember through all of elementary school - you get trust issues because you ask "what is correct and/or normal" so much that it can be hard to trust most "normal" people.
    If anything this makes it so even when people do what you'd like or can find helpful, it's a lot harder to trust them anyway sometimes. This is because you ask if it's to help them or to be actually a decent person.

    I got hit in the face with this months ago. I asked a group of my favorite coworkers to go to something important to me that I consider fun and would help them better understand me as a person. And just declining the offer would have been fine. But they laughed at me that I would want them to do that. "You just want a ride" "I thought we were friends." Yeah, I DID think we were friends, that's why I invited you to the thing. That was when I learned that they weren't my friends, and I haven't trusted any of them with anything since then. Just not wanting to spend time with me is one thing, but making me feel foolish for wanting it to begin with really damaged how I see them.

What is the point in learning to trust again just to be betrayed again? We need tools to protect ourselves.

    I think multiple things, One time was when my parents both told me that they woulldn't Invade my privacy. But, they both did and directly pointed it out. there was also a time when The oldest brother in my dads side of the family ended up doing some Really gross stuff to me, It got him kicked out for years, it happend when i was 8 and he came back when i was 12. Also when i had a best friend and we even went to eachothers houses after school, which id never expreienced somebody coming over to my house or me going over to that persons house almost everyday after school. In 3rd grade though, after being friends for a year, she started to Bully me, it started halfway through the school year, and ended on the last week of school when she tried to get me to bully somebody else. I feel like everytime i get close to somebody, or give them my trust, in some way the trust i give to them is always broken. its happend with really everybody in my life. I dont opften talk to people now and really just isolate myself, and it feels like im utterly alone in the real world sense everybody ive tried trusting has just ruined or broken it in some way.

    I had trust issues before but not bcoz I had childhood issues. On the contrary, I'm so used to HONESTY with my parents and siblings that I expected everyone else like friends, colleagues and acquaintances would be honest to me as well. I've learn it the hard way when someone so special to me betrayed me. And now as an adult I've already accepted the fact that NOT everyone you trust is trustworthy. HONESTY is an expensive gift that only should be given to the people who deserves it!

    I've developed trust issues because of abuse from my mom (verbal, emotional, and mental). My dad's infidelity, then coming back, being left in my grandmother's care for 7 years (I'm 20 now). I was bullied in middle school for the color of my skin. My first boyfriend cheated on me and physically abused me when I was 13-14y/o. I was betrayed by my second boyfriend among other things. I've tried to speed up the healing process for my boyfriend now because my lack of trust in him is hurting him. I don't want him to resent me, but I fear it's already too late, (we've been together for 5 years). I started trying to be better two and a half years in. But I'm too late.

      No, you can absolutely recover!! You need to use the Thais Gibson method through first learning your attachment style through taking her quiz that’s on her website, and then watching the RUclips videos which correspond to your attachment style and it’s unique wounds. Being betrayed by your first is NOT a death sentence, plus your first doesn’t really count because you had zero experience aside from what was programmed into you by your environment, which evidently screwed your over, but you can reprogram yourself! So don’t lose hope, you can absolutely do this if you follow Thais Gibson.

  • @Doejrk
    @Doejrk 5 месяцев назад

    I don’t know if anybody will see this but a major way I was able to trust again was by, well, acknowledging my own mistakes from the past. Being brutally honest but not overbearingly self critical. It’s important to self reflect and realize maybe some situations wouldn’t have blown up if you reacted a different way. Now that’s not to say that every situation where it went terrible was your fault, you also have to take into account the other characters and their reactions and _possible_ reactions (if you know them that well). I had to really take into perspective that my tendencies were still rooted to my inner child, and sparked up dramatically at trigger points (like the video says). It does hurt at first but eventually you make peace with it and realize you are already a different person if you’re wanting to heal, it just depends if you want to go through with the change or not, because in the end you also have to trust yourself.

    I did not have trust issues, and then I fell in love with a person with a depression who sent me mixed signals, accepted my attention and kept me at arm's length, at the same time not rejecting me directly. I thought it was the depression that made him distant, not the fact that he did not like me back. It turned out he just did not have the heart to tell me I'm not desirable for him. Within a year, my trust crumbled. Now I feel like I will never be able to tell if anyone genuinely likes me or is just being polite. I hate him and curse him at times - and at times I want him to be happy and never get this attitude from anyone. I so did not deserve to be treated like that.

    I have trust issues with friendships, and only have 3 really close friends online. When I have had to save over 6 people from not being alive anymore, and only 2 have stayed, I have a reason to not trust people. At the same time, I trust too easily, always thinking, this person is going to be different, and every time they leave after they have used me for their own gains, it gets a little harder to trust someone new. Its a bad combo, and it always leads me to beat myself up after they go, always thinking that I could have been better, could have said something different, could have dealt with their opinions.. After the track record of friends, both ones I have saved, ones I met and had a long term connection with, or both, its not easy to open up about things.

      I relate so much to this. Having a hard time truly trusting people, but deep down believing/hoping it'll be different this time and then feeling like it's my fault that they're gone. Even if when looking back, I can clearly see they were there because they wanted something out of me and left because they got it.
      I won't say there haven't been times I messed up, too, but I want to believe that friends don't ditch you just like that.
      I really hope you find again the power to trust and the emotional connection you're looking for

    It’s one thing to have trust issues with people in general, it’s another thing to have them with the opposite gender than you. Though I’ve had mostly negative experiences, those situations have made me a stronger, wiser and independent woman. That alone is priceless and is something I would never change.

    2:44-2:52 one of my biggest problems and currently that I am in a very bad phase again a subject that hurts me badly as I never had many friends, the classmates I have been friends with for the longest time abandoned me more and more with the pandemic being a massive pusher too and the only real friend seems not to be really interested in me having a hard time right now.
    As kid I have been used by other kids or made fun of and later with my first love relation, she just used me to get goods she likes, so I much rather cover myself inside a clam shell and wait for my passing instead of looking for new opportunities which is brutal difficult anyway being as introverted and slow and partially shy and scared from humans as I am.

    It's not a matter of simply trusting again but being more perceptive to those who can be trusted and those who don't but of course sometimes we cannot really know in that case we should always have plan B like setting boundaries and consequences for the transgression and comunicating it assertively and politely to others.

    I got replaced by my friends when the new shiny thing came to our company. It's difficult to fully trust somebody after that. Then, basically this year, one of my close friends just drifted off and when I finally asked she just said that it's just easier to her not to be very close to anybody. And it's completely understandable, but I've been feeling guilty for months. If I did something wrong - please, just tell me so I can work on it and move on.

    I wish I could put it into words why I've been experiencing trust issues but tbh there aren't many words I have other than letting others take advantage of me and think it's ok. I also tend to be naive and gullible. But on the other hand, I do feel intelligent, but sometimes I don't always use my intellectual ability wisely. It's a bit subtle, complicated, and abstract to describe completely. Maybe a lot of it is low self-esteem, but I'm not even so sure that is what is causing me to have trust issues.

    • @Psych2go
      @Psych2go  8 месяцев назад +1

      Trust issues often have multifaceted roots, and they can be influenced by various factors, including past experiences and self-perception. It might be helpful to explore these feelings with someone you trust, like a friend, family member, or even a mental health professional, who can offer support and guidance.

    Hi Psych2go! I have a question, I had a not great teacher in grade school whom loaded heavy topics on our class and wouldn’t care whatever was happening in the students life and didn’t care when they sprinkled a tiny emotional topic or anything but we showed care on their topic but they just cried and then left us when we talked about ourselves. I feel like it had an impact on my life now because I started SH that year and had not great thoughts about my life. I also had took and anxiety test and depression test, I have moderate anxiety and mild depression. I was admitted to therapy every two weeks recently, we talked about this. I’m just not sure on how to feel anymore.
