@@LightSpeedFury01YT no he flew The A-4 against The F-4 I should kno it was my request lol he just did it backwards! He also flew The Typhoon against The Rafale ;)
Hell ya that A-10 at night is pretty B@D@$$ having to use the marks to fire on the enemy with the GAU I think that is something amazing how that computer stuff works at night 👍
Crazy to see how far the Night Vision has come on the aircraft now. I was at Eielson AF when they were testing the NV on both the A10s and F16s and it wasn't integrated into the planes like they are now. There were lightbulbs attached by velcro all over the place lmao. Was such a headache because it caused a fod hazard for the ejection seats, so we had to count all the bulbs to make sure non were missing.
ATC/Ground would be going nuts over you making a U-turn on an active runway to get back to your taxiway! They're definitely going to be giving you a number to call.
From a viewer perspective night fight mission looks a lot more like real world footage and is definitely more immersive. I liked the A-10 daytime video as well but I would love to see more of night fights.
My epiphany on how the A-10's systems work came from watching Bunyap's videos. He did a great job explaining the TMS and DMS in layman's terms. Once I had those down, everything came together.
The NVG thing in DCS is such a pet peve of mine. The goggles the Air Force uses can only focus on one plain. So you either get in the cockpit or out at the world. I was aircrew in the Air Force and we focus our goggles for outside and literally just look under them to see gauges and any other thing in the aircraft.
I just came across your channel and I'm hooked. Love the graphics and the humor that you bring to the fight. I've been around planes all my life and I miss flying with my father and uncle and this brought back memories. Flying not dogfights but you have a fan for life. Thank you.
So awesome! Im relatively new to DCS (6mo) and have almost every ac avail. I held off on jumping around other than FF, and stuck with the F-18 and have done very well learning the systems and weapons deployment. The next ac is no doubt the A-10. Its literally hell from above. Dig the night time. Its a whole different monkey!
One thing that worked very well for me to finally manage to work well with the A10 are the three Maple Flag's Qualification campaigns. They are quite cheap, and doing all three of them in a row was really like going to the A10 school following an intensive class. Very effective !
Absolutely agree with you. If you've been on the fence of learning the A-10 just do it. I think it is by far the easiest one out of all the jets I've learned, and super fun too. Once you get the hang of a few fundamentals you're good to go. Starting with one of the easier DLC campaigns is a good way to learn by doing.
Just started learning the A10. Have about 20 hours in her. As much as she is frustrating to learn... it's equally gratifying. Bvr is fun..but to drop a 2000lbs bomb on a target from 7k. Is a different kind of fun. 10/10
This was an amazing change of pace to your channel. Want to know the next step in your success? Do more content like this and add the real real. Pretend it's 2011. You are working with a Airforce combat controller who guides you in to target. No targeting pods in 4k. Trust me that's your next viral hit.
Man i love watching these videos with you flying the A-10C. What an aircraft. Great explanations as always man, and love how you did a night vision run. Please more of that. Awesome vid as usual. That night time map looks beautiful as well when you take off the night vision.
Would love to see the long form of this content! The whole multi hours of prep, taxi, take off to landing and everything in between. Maybe on a second channel or same channel in a series section?
With JDAMs, you should always lase while you designate SPI. That way the TGP knows exactly where you are looking in space. If you don't, the TGP thinks you're looking at the ground and if the slant is shallow enough, it'll think you're looking at the ground behind your target.
I'm familiar with this effect, but I think my assessment was accurate, the bomb is too heavy and dropped from too low to have enough time to make the adjustments. If it was a 500lbs bomb it probably would have hit. I've become familiar with what you're talking about the bombs were missing by a lot more than a few feet/meters so I don't think it was that.
Loved this video mate...would like to see some more. Would be interesting a more dynamic environment. Maybe another A-10 with you and a large tank column or some such....interesting to watch.
These videos of the A10 have inspired me to jump in. The A10 is IMO the most fun and rewarding. I've got the thrustmaster HOTAS warthog setup, saitek rudder pedals and ir5 head tracking all on order.
In addition to GS's points on 'Just do it!" and "It's not as tough as it seems" I would point out to find a mentor to help you. There are plenty of us out here who have the A-10C down pat and the majority of us are willing to teach it to someone new. It really does start to flow in terms of systems usage once you get everything set up and understand the purposes. Making sure your HOTAS has enough hats or properly modified ones is the biggest drawback of taking it all in, but that gives you a reason to save and splurge a bit on that nice TM Warthog or WinWing set you've been drooling in your dreams about, right? Seriously, if you want to learn the A-10, just set your mind to it. It really flies nice and lays waste to anything.
Going to be getting into DCS soon, almost got everything ready for it. I'll probably make the A-10C my second plane, and end up with the F/A-18C as my first just cause multi role, even though I'll probably enjoy the A-10C more, better for me in the end to learn a multi role first. Keep doing A-10C content. Absolutely my favorite plane, excited to see more.
The most difficult part of DCS, like literally anything else that's challenging, is getting started. For me personally, nothing in DCS really clicked until I tried the hog. For me, the F-16, the F-18, they weren't intuitive. The A-10 is intuitive to me. I still play around in those other aircraft, but the hog is home. It's slow, a little on the heavy side, not particularly attractive, and it has a plan to kill everything it comes across, so it fits me perfectly. 😆
Hey GS, I’ve seen some videos talking about the “new” su-57, it’s basically a more refined and updated version of the one we have seen photos of, from what I can see, it has new radar absorbent paint, the bolts are covered up and a slightly different intake design, would be great to hear your input on how it would perform against the f22 if they did that performance wise
I had the A-10 sitting in my account for 8 years, only recently I've felt brave enough to learn about it, and I feel like its harder to manage the keys and commands onto your HOTAS than the actual operation.
My favourite loadout for the A-10 is to take 4 triple racks of APKWS, and a few GBU-12s on the fuselage for backup. Climb to 15-20 thousand feet, hunt for targets at ease in a nice wide orbit using the TGP, then when you have your target turn in to the target, dip the nose when you’re about 6-7 miles out, just so you get the CCIP over the target, ripple off a single APKWS for soft targets or multiple for things like tanks, then bring the nose back up and go back to the orbit whilst you paint the target. Plinking. GBUs give you a bigger hit if you need it but APKWS is good enough for most stuff and you carry tonnes.
I am all about wanting to learn this!! A-10 being the first one i get and learn. once i can actually get a track ir and proper stick, pedal, throttle set up as well.
I want to see some Durandal action. Not just the runways but the taxiways as well. IIRC they have to be dropped at a speed not exceeding 450KIAS. 2 planes have to sneak into an enemy air base at night, egress, aerial refueling, mountains, valleys - all at night. Not a job for the A-10 but perhaps a Strike Eagle but a Strike Eagle isn't available and you have to use 2x F-16's - unfortunately they don't have the internal fuel for the mission meaning you must use 3x external fuel tanks, + Durandals and have 2x Sidewinders and 2x AMRAAMS for self defense. Minimal use of afterburner, 2/3rd throttle and careful maneuvering airspeed goes up and down a bit. Night vision at all times.
The A-10 was the first plane I learned and it was by far easier for me to learn than basically anything else and im still terrible in a2g in everything else I have learned to use besides helicopters
When you go for a gun run at night try this. Set your laser to IR and with your nvg's you will see a nice green line from your pod to the ground target.
I really like the content you make, but what about a start up to shut down mission, with 3 or 4 others? I mean use comms, use tactics, and go in with a planned mission. You could even do it from a carrier to amp up the cool factor.
i'm learning the A10 myself. so.... the more the A10 , the better 🙂

I started 1 month ago at dcs. I'm having a lot of fun doing missions with the Sukhoi Su-25 Frogfoot. For now I'm using the keyboard and mouse (there are a lot of buttons to memorize but it's easy after a few hours...) Things get worse when I need to do a dogfight just using the keyboard and mouse... 😂
Not sure if it's possible, but I would've liked to have seen the on-site video when the A10 fired the guns or the bombs. May have been dark, but hear the Brrrrrrr and see the explosion, and possibly seeing the belly of the 10 going acriss in the dark. That could be cool.

Or for something more Period correct, a fully loaded A4 Skyhawk (or two with your buddy)…?
Please fly The F-4 Phantom VS A-4 Skyhawk
Please fly The Rafale VS Typhoon
Please fly The F-16I Sufa with Python 5's VS Gripen with IRIS-T's

Is there a link to download this mission?
please keep pumping out a10 content, no one else compares.
Love the A10 stuff
Wordddd
I think it would be cool to see some F/A-18 ground striking.
Might be fun as well
This! As much as i love the A-10 C, there's other aircraft than can to multirole, and i totally wanna see the F-18 in groundaction.
What a KILLER week! Felon vs 22 and A-10 air to ground videos!! YES!! Love it! Best week of videos in a while! THANK YOU!!

You took the words outta my mouth. Situational awareness. Never flown a plane, just a machinist who made nametags in the navy. Just love the A10.
ATC/Ground would be going nuts over you making a U-turn on an active runway to get back to your taxiway! They're definitely going to be giving you a number to call.
Looooooool ya fair enough no argument there
Nighttime A10?! God I love these. So gorgeous visually.

DCS A10 videos are BY FAR the most fun videos you have ever created... The A10 is just so varied... Hello from germany❤💙💛
old A-10 crew chief here. Love your A-10 videos
Thank you for watching, very cool to see crew chiefs hanging around in the comments
GS just chilling & cruising around the neighborhood and helping out buddies, loved it!

Love from Poland indeed! ❤🇵🇱
Loving the content GS. You got me to try DCS again and really try to learn. Currently learning the mig 29
wish you luck with the MIG-29, was the first FC3 module i tried, the most dificult of them all lol, kinda hard to control.
It'd be really cool if you would create a scenario with both The A-10C and The F-15E working together!🙏👍
i second that!
