Some amazing fishing, wish i knew where this venue is. My best ever Chub, 6lb 9oz from River Gade , about 1/2 mile down stream of Cassiobery Park, Watford. This ias the best stream ever, and on one very rare occasion, had to empty my keep net half way through the day, fishing with Tares and Hemp, never been repeated since, 20 years ago. 2 net fulls of roach, dace, and chub. Will go do down as my best days fishing, ever.
Excellent video and some honking big chub !!! It just goes to show that good fishing is availiable from small rivers/brooks/streams and not just the bigger waters. It also brought home how much I miss my chub fishing, especially in the winter. Chub are so cunning........they seem to know where every root, weed bed, rush stem, rock etc...... is situated on the riverbed and do their best to get to them and shed that hook !!!
Excellent Video and an absolute pleasure to see young guys catching so well and showing such a high level of respect for the fish and their environment. Keep up the good work!!
I had a 5lb 3oz chub from a river about the same size as the first one you guys were fishing, its suprising how such big chub can live and grow so big in such small rivers!!
Hi carl I love your videos and I love watching these older masterpieces and I was just wondering what age you and Alex started doing day sessions together keep up the good vids man ❤❤
This is what I do every night, not being able to sleep so go on your channel and watch random vids again, watched every single one of your videos several times but doesn’t stop me coming back
Because these big chub would snap 2lb line in the snags and branches that go into the water. I used to use 3lb line but still got snapped a few times :( Carl
Both of you have an unbeliveable fishing technique. Congrsts! Venues where you fish reminds me so much on the river of my childhood. Its a big pleasure watching you. Great angling!
I watched the fishing tutorials and got to this channel and also your brothers as we have a campervan and channel and I want to take back up river fishing and sea fishing purely as a way of just getting out there - so I have a huge back catalogue of your videos to watch - but helped me so much on basics as I have no clue what I am doing. I have an X5 rod and reel and just pulling stuff together ready for an adventure
@@fishwithcarl You are an exceptional angler even at this young age. I'm always searching the river Rother in Sheffield for some good Chub and never seem to have any luck. I've been fishing for over 20 years and It would blow my mind if I had a chub session like this
Carl and Alex you should do some fishing In The avon in Wiltshire there is chub bleek golden Rudd carp pike perch roach maybe barble perch up to 5lbs pike up to mid 20 carp to mid 20-30 chub to 6lbs roach to 4-5lbs bleek up to 1lb and there is some bream up to 10lbs
5lb Roach, now that would set a River Thames old timers heart beating. Who at 63 only ever managed one 'Red Fin' of just over the 3lb mark as a youngster of 17 and it made page 3 in The Angling Times in 1973. That's how special a Thames Roach from the Desborough Cut channel (free bank) between Weybridge and Walton was. Now I'm not saying you're telling tall tales but if a 3lb 2oz Roach left such a memorable mark on me, a 5lb Roach would be all over the angling press and fishing channels.
Nice video lads. Looks like a lot of fun. I used to fish for chub on the Colne near Cowley. I used a short spinning rod, an old Mitchell 408 with 4lb line. Best lure was a 2" worm-tail grub flicked into the water just under the overhanging willows. They are a great fighting fish on light tackle.
If you only have one day stalking the specis would be more effective than fishing bottom baits but for a short session if you want lots of decent fish, try coarse lake 3. Full of em :D Carl
Really nice vid and fish. You guys are lucky with that nice rivers near your home I don't have that in holland. This is the best channel on youtube! Greetings from holland.
Brilliant fishing. I haven't got any decent chub rivers near me, my local river is the wreake and a chub of 4lb is a mentally big chub for that river. I also have the river eye which has good pike in and loads of roach, 2lb roach are caught regularly I've heard. Might have to have ago at some specimen roach fishing down there when it rains a bit cuz the river is dangerously low
just rewatched this looking for some tips after having landed my 1st ever river chub a couple of very evenings ago! those fish in the river in the first part of the video are just stunning, who knew a river of that size could hold such monsters?!
It amazes me on a small river like that theres such big fish its the same here on the river sence only couple feet wide but wen u find those deep holes with chub that big the effort pays off
Carl and Alex Fishing yeah, I definitely see.. we use them for catfish bait where I live. we use the smaller ones live and the "big" one's whi ch is a fraction of the size of these live or as cut bait for catfish. I need a few of these big boys, wanna mail me a few to wv in the us? haha
Brilliant video again guys, just a quick question.. what rod are you both using I assume it might be middy. And what reel because if you both been using it without any trouble on small rivers to catch some nice chub I thought I might as well buy the same gear as then I know I won't be disappointed when I fish small rivers and streams??
The best fishing channel in you tube fishing history 🔥🎣🎣!!!
Wow haha, thanks Ethan!
True ❤
You guys have evolved so much!!
Yes we watch them!!!!! Ok cool, we are looking out for it :D
Carl
It was my disgorger! I keep it behind my ear so I don't loose it!
And thus, a legend was born….

I’ve caught Surprisingly large Chubb in streams and small rivers, as long as you mind battling stinger nettles and Barb wire fences
Great video well done on the chub Carl your on them this year for definite!
Tom
Cheers Alex I'm bursting to get down to the river already:)
Haha it is by far the best spot! And yes we don't have repeat captures often but when we do it is always Arthur Dent!!!
Carl
Great video guys! I was wondering what keep net you were using?
Loved seeing your hefty chub! Maybe it’s my inexperience but I’ve certainly never come across one so monstrous! You sir are a legend! Keep it up 😉😍
It ain't just you Christina the chub are mugging me off this year too lol
