As a 136 year old granny, I can most certainly confirm that men will go into cardiac arrest if you even consider talking about your clothes, or show up to a date with slightly wrinkled stockings.
as a woman from 1938, i can attest that the reason you were not allowed to talk while dancing is because we used to have rap battles and the men didn’t want to lose.
As a 1930’s baby, thank you for the representation, these 21st century gyals have nothing on my girdle and revealed ankles 🤪 currently writing this on a messenger pigeon in the nursing home and my husband is taking his dementia pills.
You’re such a darling!! Thank you for sharing my thoughts! As a 1942 baby, I’m so glad to see our generation is thriving and alive! Greetings from my messenger pigeon to yours!

as a woman from the 1930s, i have to say i became so smart after drinking too much, my date became threatened by my superior intellect and he left mid-date 😔😔
as someone who was in fact a teenager in the 1930s, i am able to confirm that i went on quite a few dates during my time as a mischievous teen. however, my days were cut short when i went on a date and my date said, "oh my! what a marvelous tune!" while we were dancing. i was shocked. i passed out and needed to go to the hospital. i was barely alive, and had to be in the ICU for 3 years. i still remember it to this day. it gives me the chills every time i think about it. i really do hope my vulture committee delivers this soon. thank you for listening to my story.
I literally just got my wisdom teeth pulled this Friday. This video made me laugh so hard that my stitches came out and i started bleeding. Thank you grandma Deb for the sweet taste of blood 🩸😍🤤
I remember reading this article in 1938! My past husband did actually die from crying about my talking while dancing. It was tragic. The funeral was held and was a party because no other men could cry. It was a bop.
As a man myself, I can confirm that when we cry we do go into cardiac arrest. That's why we can't risk crying. Please.... spreading the word..🥺😥😰😣😭 #spreadawareness #mendieiftheycry
Hi, deb! I'm Brazilian and I found your channel a few months ago. I want to thank you for being so funny and making my days happier. and I also want to thank you for helping me to speak English. I'm still learning, so I apologize if I made any mistakes in this message. I love you and I wish you the best. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
So at 8:27 I actually do know the answer lol. My grandma passed away a year ago and was 95. So she was 11 in 1938. BUT she also had a older sister who gave her advice on dating. And her sister said almost this exact thing. Talk about the things you like. Especially clothes.
i saw Reddit and IMMEDIATELY clicked. Deb + Omegle = chaos. But Deb + Reddit… girl this gon be traumatic Edit: I was so right. It was going well until the very end when she casually mentioned that she wouldn’t have rights in the 1930s! We love a politically correct queen.
I get the psych major thing. A friend of mine’s ex boyfriend would LITERALLY try to tell her how she felt and disregard what she was saying. She promptly broke up with him after a month or two of dating.
I am from 1910 and 85 years old. To the delight of all of us, I can confirm that these advices come from a construction in which women were supposed to be quiet and invisible housewives. Therefore, it is obvious that the tree-planting men, by virtue of their socially superior position, continue to maintain and can only hold onto it if they are admired; not otherwise annoyed. Clearly, this is also not centred on the desires of one gender image as well as being fundamentally sexist. You're right, probably some of these sentences could have come from an alpha-potcast, because in most cases they are sexist as well
Hey Deb I was born in 1920 and I can confirm this it was how dating was in 1938, I went on this date and I started talking about my new clothes and this guy instantly left the table and made me pay! It was a horrible night he even stopped sending me bird messages 😓
2:00 I remember at one of my middle school dances we got the boring guy who never participates in the dances to dance and he became the life of the party, it was amazing

Hey deb I'm a man from 1832 and yeah, we gathered up in the 1930's and brainstormed ideas for what we HATE about women during dates. We weren't allowed to cry during it, but it was o hard because we heard a woman outside talking about her CLOTHES.

This letter to his sister was about finding a girlfriend, so basically my greataunt was on a mission to find my grandpa a girlfriend. In this letter he had a list of 30 things she should look for in a woman. I can't remember all of them, but I can remember a few like, a skinny waist, long legs, wavy hair, beautiful eyes, a good singing voice and dimples. He also requested for a picture of the girl if my greataunt found a girl with 20+ of his listings. Let's just say my grandma had 20+ of those attributes and managed to win my grandpas heart.
