In Mexico we call it “Pata de Mula”. Add some lime juice, a pinch of salt, and Tapatio, and then sip and swallow it whole. Extremely yummy!!!!!

Amazing! In Madagascar we consume them differently! We eat those like oysters 🦪, in the shell with just enough lemon or lime juice! The only difference with oysters is that you have to chew a lil bit instead of straight up swallowing!

Mike Carr For me, I think it's because I'm not used to it. I'm from the States, and are definition of "street food" is nothing like this. Even going into specialty restaurants, you don't see this part of the process. I think it's cool to learn what other populations consider standard foods or delicacies and see how they differ from mine.

AKAGAI looks red because it uses iron as a catalyst to supply oxygen to the body.
Many species of shellfish use copper for the blood, blood color is clear.

This would also mean that red clams are much lower in copper, making them unsuited to treat copper deficiencies, but much higher in iron.

In El Salvador, these big ones we call "donkey hulls" have almost the same taste as the "curiles" and the "conchas", of the same species but smaller, they can be eaten directly from their shell, alone or with Salt, lemon, and tabasco,
it's taste are metallic and sweet, delicious!!. Also prepare in cocktails with tomato, onion, radish, coriander finely chopped and seasoned with lemon juice, salt, Worcestershire suase and tabasco sause.

wow..... giant sized blood cockles, also commonly known as "see harm" in Singapore..... challenging to eat it 100% raw because it has a strong metallic taste of blood.... we usually blanch them in the shell in a rolling boil for 10-30 seconds depending on your preference of doneness, then eat them with a spicy sambal belachan chilli sauce. Can be done as a hot plate or stir fried dish too, but by and large the simple blanch and sambal method seems to be the most popular method here.

It's amazing ho much effort and time they took to make this into sashimi while in my country we just wash and throw it into boiling water. I have a friend that underestimates sashimi saying that it is something easy to make and you don't even have to cook it. But after watching this video I'm sure he'll understand that making a sashimi require skills.

They're called Blood Clams at least to my knowledge that's the name used back home, but generally it's cautioned not to eat them certainly not eat them raw as they do tend to ingest a lot of bacteria and viruses (Hepatitis A and E, Typhoid, Dysentery). I mean you certainly CAN eat them, but it is a risk you're taking to eat them so it's just important to be wise about what you consume and to not consume blindly. It's also wise not to consume everything raw. Just some facts in case anyone get the chance to eat these so they know the risks involved.

I don't see how they can eat this clam raw because it has a very strong bloody wild taste. My family used to boil them in water with limes, lemon grass, salt, hot chilly peppers, and seafood mix. Then dipped them in either soy sauce or fish sauce. Eating them raw will make me throw up!

Autonomous sensory meridian response. It basically induces a state of comfort through sounds on a frequency that attunes you to your central nervous system. This can lead to a more efficacious sleep, allowing you to not need as much sleep. I highly suggest trying this during a powernap.

Chef Rafi's Awesome World some if us do. :) Had a lot if it in Langkawi when I lived there. Tried it raw once and loved the strong iron taste. However, to me, it tastes best if grilled on charcoal flame. The flavour and aroma intensifies. Major yummy!
