A beautiful piece. A hint: Make up a set of parallels to help hold thin pieces for drilling. Nothing fancy, just a couple thin pieces of steel that are the same width. A dab of grease will adhere them to the vise jaws. They will make life a bit easier.
Dude, that's a sharp looking knife (no pun intended) I have built several guitars and use bone for nut, saddle, and some inlays, and at the moment am making a trout knife, it's not a fillet, but just for gutting so think scalpel-ish. Its fairly small, more handle than blade, but I'm thinking bone scales, as I have some aged beef bone in my shop . Kinda do what you can with what you got. Anyway, I get further along, I'll post a pic if you're interested. You do some nice work.
“I love that format, something like semi-rustic, greetings from Chile” I love seeing posts from South America! Knowing our son has reached out to people in other countries with his skill and expertise makes me so proud. Thank you.
Looks really good! I was actually disappointed at first when you said you were not leaving the handle the way it was because I thought the texture of it would just add to it, however, you didn’t lose much there so it looks great! Glad you’re going to use it in your kitchen as well
Thank you! I would suggest doing the makers mark before the etch and stonewash. You typically need to do a little clean up on the blade after etching the makers mark.
Looks great! Flows together very well. What are you using for resin dye? I’ve been using powder but it all has mica in it instead of being straight black.
Very nice!
And I gotta say it….”Thru-Tang ain’t nuttin to mess with!”
Great idea and good looking knife

Question for you can you do a maker mark after you acid etching and stone washing ?

Beautiful knife 🔪 it's just missing the rest of the set
Thank you!
Love it! Beautiful build. Out of curiosity, how much tang did you leave to be peened down?
Thanks! I had about 1/4" when I started hammering.
2 things I wish would happen. You would move closer to me and give day classes. I would pay good money for a one on one day of instruction with you.
This is a classic! I love the whole video, but peening the handle on is just a classy move.
Thanks Chip!
Definitely does Not look like a Store bought knife! Definitely looks like a well built one-off/hand made design - Very Good!!
Thank you David!

Leather dye, it works amazingly. Just a couple drops go a long way.
i can never find antlers that will work for knife handles.
It's a here and there thing for me. Most of the time I don't like anything that I see.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🔥🤩
