@@zaftra And now we lost one. Fuxk it. Too young. He was the one of many ones that made Pulp utterly unique. Dare I say an Avant Garde Abba. That's high praise. Trust me. Rip. Edited, because I spelled "unique" wrong. Says it all really.
Being English, you take it for granted the eccentricity and oddness, it's only years later like a van Gogh, do you appreciate true art, thank u Jarvis❤️🙏
Their writing is amazing. especially in this song. "I hid inside her wardrobe" instead of inside her closet and "And she was with some kid called David". I love both of those lines because it could have said differently.
It's the self awareness and sense of irony, along with the musical chops that make them so enjoyable. And Jarvis's loose limbed dance moves are a thing of awesomeness!
I think this might be my favourite Pulp song, but it is so hard to choose. They are so excellent and funny and cool. I saw Jarvis walking down the street in Paris once and I don't think I have ever been so starstruck in my entire life.
Can’t quite remember the lyrics but it goes , For the last sixteen weeks I’ve been shagging your misses, smoking your cigarettes and drinking your Brandy, times I wanted you too come home and catch us at it ,in the front room . That s a story and Pulp in a nutshell 😁🇬🇧❤️
Mike & Ginger - Your reactions are spot on. This is British indie pop art at its best. You really do need to listen to their lyrics and watch the band members.
Hello, guys ! Great to see you review Pulp again. They are hilarious. Btw, there's another promo video for this same song. Its even funnier. Best wishes, from the UK.
I can't believe you got greif for not taking pulp seriously enough. Pulp have their tongue firmly shafted in their cheek, but they also mean it. It hilarious and hardcore at the same time. Keep it up guys
Great stuff, they were formed in Sheffield in I think 1978 but didn't have a proper hit till around 1992. Jarvis is famous at bearing or shaking his arse at Michael Jackson during the Brit Awards in the ninties. Also check out 'pink Glove' for the lyrics. Top job, much love from Wales. x
Jarvis Cocker is widely regarded for his comedic like lyrics and laconic tone - he once held a slot on Radio 6’s “Sunday Sessions”, I highly recommend you read his book: Mother, Brother, Lover. A collection of Pulp lyrics.
Every song on the album Different Class is great, a fantastic album. I particularly like "Sorted for E's and Whiz and "Something changed". If your feeling really brave there's a song on Jarvis Cockers solo album called "C***s are running the World". One of his lyrical best and very much relevant today. keep um coming.
Great reaction - funny you should mention the lyrics not quite scanning properly. In all of Pulp's albums, on the sleeve there's a note to say "Please don't read the lyrics while listening to the music"
Pulp was never huge in the US, just in the UK. Common People was a small hit. I don't know if any other songs charted. But they were the 90's version of the Kinks (the late 60's Kinks, their best period) with clever lyrics which are often at odds with the musical content, and occasionally have social content. There is also a lot of unreliable narrator aspects, with the singer revealing he is in denial, or otherwise not fully understanding what is going on. One would certainly hope Jarvis Cocker is not taking himself too seriously when he sings "I am not Jesus, but we have the same initials."
Britpop 90's is all worth listening to. I didn't appreciate pulp or jarvis enough at the time. He live trolled wacko jacko on TV... Probably misdirected now
Razzmatazz and lipgloss are both excellent songs by Pulp.. don't listen to people saying disco 2000 it's a good pop song but it's not the real Pulp. P.S listening to Feeling called love on Shrooms is frightening experience when that chorus breaks.
@@MikeandGinger that reply had me laughing out loud. Jarvis lives 100m from my folk and just takes part in village life. Hes done a song called sunset with his big pal Richard Hawley ,worth a look.
We’re not American. Are you familiar with Sloan? No? Maybe because where you live, quirky Canadian niche bands aren’t exactly on the radio loop-play. Much like Pulp wasn’t large on radio play in Canada. Your snarky comment puts me in mind of a Sloan lyric, from their hit song “Coax Me”… “It’s not the band I hate. It’s their fans” Instead of being an elitist poseur about it, maybe you could suggest something else we might discover and enjoy. -G

Jarvis Cocker , by far the best 'Dad dancer' to ever grace this earth!

‘Help the aged’ is a good one. And ‘Do you remember the first time?’
They don't write 'em like this anymore. Just brilliant.
I think this might be my favourite Pulp song, but it is so hard to choose. They are so excellent and funny and cool. I saw Jarvis walking down the street in Paris once and I don't think I have ever been so starstruck in my entire life.
The track they put on the bside of this, "Seconds", might be mine. It's just so specific and such cold comfort
Every Pulp song tells a story .😀🇬🇧🇺🇸❤️

Mike and Ginger, this time Babies, you reacted earlier to their song Common People. I would recommend their song Disco 2000 as well.

Pink glove is also a very very good song by pulp or just like a friend ..... that would be an awesome reaction :) ✌🏻
How about Chasing Rainbows by Shed Seven?
If u love their lyrics, u should check out Divine Comedy, any of their songs really
National express.
You get the British sense of humour.
Great song!
first time i heard that..thought it was pretty good..disco 2000 is up there too
I only went with her because she looks like you ...... classic line
Can’t truly get this unless you grew up on a council estate in the uk through the 80’s
Great to see a Sheffield band on the world stage once again, they filled the gap between Def Leppard, Human League and Arctic Monkeys :)

When I was 14 I was very annoyed I didn't have hair like Jarvis.
If you like clever, clued up lyrics I highly recommend Belle & Sebastian. They Boy With The Arab Strap, This Is Just A Modern Rock Song....do it
check out 'this is hardcore' by pulp - awesome track & video! ✌🏻
Pink Glove my fave.
Everyone likes Common People and Disco 2000 but for me this one and Sorted for Es and whizz are my favourites.
