I've always felt for the continuity announcers when this happens. Andy Taylor sounded like he's really properly sorry though, and not reading off a script which is nice.
Transcription of 1:20. Well, I'm sorry we seem to be having a technical problem at the moment. We're trying to deal with the problem, and uh, we'll see what we can do as soon as we can.
I’m wondering by the second of static just after it goes black (which analogue TVs would display if not tuned in) and the sound at the beginning of the breakdown slide also being full of static that this was caused by a signal loss somewhere?
It appears the video signal might have leaked onto the audio OR the audio was not plugged in correctly OOOOR the TV was faulty too. OR (yes, a fourth or.) the VCR was faulty too.
I Think there was some form of Power cut or loss for more then one reason 1) The Film just dropped 2) You see about 5-10 seconds after the power off drop 3) The Sketchy Transmission on Andy Talking at the start 4) The loss of sound

In case anyone is interested. the film that was interrupted here was Goin' South (1978).
The only film
In PAL speed
Breakdowns are so rare these days. Back in the 80s when I was a kid, it seemed to happen quite frequently.
I know what you mean. A good breakdown livened up a boring afternoon's or evening's viewing :).
I'm amazed it took so long to realise there wasn't any sound when they first went back!
Love that the first dialogue after the sound comes back was "I guess he ain't heard the news!"
You couldn't make it up!

BBC1 Wales were very lucky because they showed this film at 1:20am. No problem for Welsh viewers.
We're sorry for the break and will correct the fault as soon as we can.
You know it's serious at 6:08 when the music starts playing!
They killed the Cameraman by accident
That error image, with it's dark and creepy imagery...I feel like the silence is going to be interrupted by Glamrock Monty Gator trying to eat me.
he shot bbc
0:11 Did someone shot the transmission?
That’s what I would say if I were the cameramen.
This is about a month before I was born
He did the bbc 2 2012 Olympics Breakdown
What happened with that? Sound or picture?
@@babychickenstudios it was some issue because after it went to the breakdown caption and no music but the test tone. That all I know.
RIP movie
Edit: Really, RIP Movie, and sound.
BBC1 Continuity On Monday 15th/Tuesday 16th September 1997.
1:16 WHAT THE HELL

WHAT THE HELL?! I AGREE WITH YOU WTH
It actually started on 01:08
@@DrayCrouse I highly doubt it was either the end user's arial antenna or VCR

0:11 Me: YO YO YO WATCH OU- *Camera dies*
Also, me: *sigh* i guess you broke the camera.
At 1:21, the voiceover sounds like a really faulty DAT recording....
1:21
Well no sound when we rejoin the film should have shown the film again when there was nothing to show on another night.
only 1 month till rebranding
0:11 hold on ur gonna-(shoots camera on accident)
Well any more closedowns to come as yet from this week or more startups from the late 80's or possibly early 90's. You'll probably will.
