The reason for Olm not being able to use flame wall on the center tile for 8:1 is that it's the border of Olm's vision when he's looking left or right. It also works on either edge of the center area if Olm is looking at the middle, and along the left and right sides of the room. Essentially Olm just can't place both sides of the flame wall, so the attack gets nulled.
