People fighting about Apple in the comments, but am I the only one who is excited to see such fierce competition within the industry? Like it’s crazy how powerful arm processors are getting, we literally have the ability to play AAA games on handhelds now with the ROG ally and the likes, crazy exciting times to like tech’
The ROG Ally's chip isn't ARM, it's still x86.
@@Zaoe22 ah interesting, still very impressive performance for a single chip!
yeah new competition is absolutely great, but unfortunately fanboys exist, which is so damn weird; to feel the need to stand-up for "your prefered company"
Competition is healthy! I’m all for it. We need to compete globally and domestically.
Well nvidia is also launching their arm based cpu in 2025, and amd also working on arm based cpu. The competition is going to be great 👍
I love how the Snapdragon is trying to be more power efficient as well as with great performance
Something intel ignored! 😅

If the real numbers on the new chip are anywhere close to what they claim, I would love to see its gaming performance
They claim 4.6 TFLOPS GPU performance, which is 1/3rd that of the M2 Max.

Windows 12 has to be better optimized to keep up with this processor's potential
okay, thank god
Windows 11 is already well optimised. It is Intel who failed to optimise its chips at the level of AMD and apple.
@@vishnuvijwaniIt's still requires optimization in the ARM Architecture versions and the translation layer may need an overhaul.
Lmao heard it's gonna be a subscription based thing.
after 8 years or 10 years
Very good achievement by Qualcomm. Competition is great and benefits consumers. I was hoping that they would bring out a competitor to Nvidia A100 chip, No worries; I will take what they gave. Still impressive. I like how Apple now knows that there is competition in the ARM laptop segment.
"Competition is great and benefits consumers"
Is it really so? Wouldn't co-operation benefit people more?
All competition seems to do, is create walled ecosystems and hinder progress and innovation via patents & big corporations taking over smaller before they become threats.
@@Nobody-Nowhere It makes sense to cooperate as far as standards like WiFi, Bluetooth, cellular connectivity (ironically here Qualcomm is so monopolistic that even Apple and Samsung had to collaborate on suing them) but in general most ARM CPUs are capable of running similar instructions so it's only a good thing that you can have ARM based Windows, Linux, and Chrome OS laptops that are competitive with MacBooks as far as balance of battery life and performance goes.
@@Nobody-Nowherecooperation only leads to stagnation.
@@georgenoble1628 Cooperation has created incredible discoveries.
People keep forgetting that most scientific discoveries were publicly funded research, or college researchers. This includes the internet and computer technology you are using right now.
Impressive that they claim 30% less power…. compared to M2 Max peak performance. That’s the claim that stands the most.
@@garrusvakarian8709 It'll be more comparable to the M2 pro and M2 Max.
M3 pro and M3 max will blow this thing a new load.

This is not only a great move for mobile computing but AR/MR/VR tech as well. The Quest 3 is already pretty good with the CPU it has now, imagine how much better it could be with this chip in it.
I’m embarrassed to now use an Apple phone with all these Apple idiots in the comments. Competition is great! This is great! Also, M1 to M2 was so incremental, no one talked about it. Don’t assume M3 will be a transformation.
Congrats Snapdragon! Everyone should salute any market players that can outperform M2 & M3 chips!
Competition is great, I'm still skeptical of this chip, these apple style graphs are so annoying & we haven't seen evidence that it can outperform M2.
M3 hasn't been announced yet, so we have no idea how powerful it is (yet)
Also, M2? M2 Pro or M2 Max, we will find out soon.
X elite cannot outperform M2 Max GPU.
3D Mark wildlife extreme test
X Elite = 44FPS
M2 Max = 151FPS
there's no even a competition right there. And now apple introduces M3 Max with Ray Tracing I don't think it can outperform the M3 Max.
But isn't comparing 4nm product to 5nm a bit cheating?
Like for like, the M2 would probably still be miles ahead, and the M3 would annihilate everything!
Problem solved, M4 kick out of this chip from the market (regardless the basic M4 still have less amount of cores, so still not a 12 cores against 12 cores comparison.. also if you aware of that they already announced the Snapdragon X Plus as a cheaper chip, you can be sure the X Elite wasn't even the basic M2/M3 competitor, it was the M2/M3 Pro and M2/M3 Max competitor, and they are not performed very well against those chips.. but M4 already on the market, but X Elite still nowhere.. so more and more pointless to make this comparisons, once they release, you will get their true color (so the rumors about the cheated benchmarks etc.. btw it's not exactly a cheat, but the X Elite had cooler, and the Macbook Air was fanless.. so just wait for the real comparison cooler vs cooler and fanless vs fanless..)
I shall calmly wait for the new Surface Pro with the Oryon chip 😌❤ This announcement makes me EXTREMELY happy.
Qualcomm really brought it!
We're on the cusp where a mobile SoC can begin to replace the typical consumers computer: Have a top end 8Gen3 mobile phone, adequate storage a proper desktop mode (Dex), wireless KB/Mouse, wireless projection to a monitor - and software or SaaS (such as Adobe CS, M365, etc) and you're good to go. Now for the working professional, then an RDP session to a cloud hosted Win10/11 would be needed or an admin could just run LInux direct as a desktop UI.
This brings hope for portable gaming console.
That's also what I was thinking, but I think it still is far away since a lot of games is still made in x86
It's so fascinating to watch how mobile computation has grown over the years & what more can be achieved as time progresses 😮
The confidence in their speeches means they have been testing and laughing at their competitors
You can see them smile 😂 whenever they say its better 😅
what version of arm instruction sets used in this ?
So these chip is going to be in next handheld consoles right ? are we going to see them in smarthpones as well ?
I hope they come out with a highly efficient LLM to run on device. I don't think people understand that getting GPT-4 level performance takes a datacenter and can't be run on a handheld device locally.

the wifi 7 modul is compatibil with intel 10 gen CPU-s??
Will we finally be able to get raw data rates from camera modules without having to first compress it to miniscule sizes or use pixel binning?
Do ARM processor get desktop pc or mini pc availability tooo😮
How is app compatibility though i have spent the day looking into windows on arm and that seems to be the main complaint
Please tell me these gonna come with mobo's too? For custom pc builds?

Apple on Oct 30: "The new M3. The best performance per watt ARM chip we've ever made."
its a never ending cycle lol one we'll all benefit from. Competition is good
Who is apple?
A17 pro with overheating issues and apple quoting the same battery life for the 15 series as the 14 series is staring at you from the corner 😂
@@ifrankenstein7455a17 pro is amazing cpu so u can shut up
Unfortunately with how underwhelming tsmc 3nm turned out on the a17 I wouldn’t have high hopes.
What mobile phone apps would u use those power?????
So how does this compare to the M3 Max's performance?
Do the m3 series of chips outperform this cpu?
This is what happens when you don’t value engineering talent enough and they leave and join a new company, nice one Apple! Excellent work Nuvia / Qualcomm, that Oryon chip looks fantastic compared to the same old re-hashed M1 chip that is in the M2 and most likely the M3 as well. But the hardest part remains ahead of you, and that is getting Windows people to transition from x86 to ARM, which means getting devs to re-write all their apps, good luck with that.
True. Fun fact - devs did rewrite for M1 chips. If their claim is proven in benchmarks, they will change our ecosystem for good and I hope for sustainability sake, this happens.
If I am not wrong Microsoft already has emulator to run x86 apps on ARM hardware. If Qualcomm's claims are true. Experience of running x86 apps on emulator will still be good.
@@chetan_naik Emulators are slow. Native support had to be adopted like M1 did.

What could be the price of laptop?
Now if they can make installable desktop versions this would be amazing
They haven’t ruled it out, fingers crossed
I wanted to see mobile chip comparisons, and how it stack up against that iPhone chip
If better than i9 and 70% less power is true … im sold…my freaking i9 run like an oven just watching a movie!
When we'll get these laptops?
Can it run starfield at 60 fps? Will it be more powerful than amd strix point?
Finally some competition!
I hope these chips can run creative apps day-1
Wow these new processor sounds like a very good improvment! Much better performance and efficiency. A nice competition to the other processor and we hope to get good deals with it.
This is really great! But why compared with M2 in multithreaded? This seems rather to target M2 Pro, not only in performance but I can see them targeting in price. 🤔
what does shot on snapdragon mean? are they also hinting a first party smartphone or a camera?
Is there a mature/usable ARM based OS other than MacOS?
Windows and Linux have ARM editions for years now.
Android is an ARM OS.

I like how qualcomm shows their numbers. impressive 🙂
Can this fit inside Quest headset?
Qualcom x elite + Linux will be killer
How about price to Performance also what about open source ability to run new platforms and Technology with this chip set

@anueladu-nsiah2432 The Pixel 8 is nice, I am not really a fan of the crazy AI. The camera is great, though.
If these numbers are true, then this is going to be an earth shattering leap in mobile technology. Imagine all the prototypes that had to be shelved because the tech wasn't there; in the next few years we're going to see a lot of interesting tech that used to be labelled as just a "concept"
with this much power and efficiency, all that is left is Windows 12 OS and apps to make it work!
What OS installed on quallcom desktop?
Probably window and it's only for laptop
Finally a possible breakthrough from M series power efficiency monopoly. Undoubtedly these competitions will benefit the end user.
Always good and exciting to have competition on the market. Unfortunately for Intel (their own fault), but a big win for us consumers.
Ohhh this space is about to get so exciting and all consumers will benefit - coming from an Apple fan
When ? release it now
Really need to shift windows on arm now otherwise i am shifting to MacOS.
Qualcomm is cooking 🔥
So is this going to be in the Oculus 4
What!? 30% less power with all that performance. I genuinely GASPED out loud
I don't know why I have this gut feeling that those are numbers achieved by highly optimized apps. I use a 2009 legacy Windows CAD software every day and I am pretty sure without a magical Apple Rosetta-style translator, it would likely not get those promised gains.
And I know I know - 2009??? Yeah but it works flawlessly every time. Gets the job done did. And I own the software and don't have a monthly subscription. I am basically living in a sunsetting software heaven.
They seamlessly integrated two OSes in that last demo? A bit jittery but still wow. Now what will x86 do?
On a specific app...
They haven't shown full OS integration.
The fact that the Windows laptop input devices (whose mouse and keyboard drivers are Windows-based) "know" when to hand over inputs and when to accept inputs shows a deeper level beyond just app level.
All devices are running on snapdragon chips, and there's an awareness happening between the three. Like they mentioned, it's at a hardware level. And that's pretty dope.
cool but will A.I. just be using all this power and can you turn ai off
Is the game developers want develop their game on 2 different system?
To be honest, I'm happy for the success of Qualcomm 🔥, I'm waiting for Xperia on 8 gen 3 next year.
I’m just excited that we’ll have a proper high performance and efficient non apple ARM laptops now.
I don't trust graphs, I'm keen to see this being applied, that's a lot of power, Windows on ARM needs more work.

It would be interesting to see how apps runs in windows on arm first. I believed with all the translation involved (x86 to arm), you will need to cut half of the performance out.
Well done and congratulations Qualcomm! This means that finally Windows will produce an official ARM64 version and it will no longer be an eternal beta version. This means that many software will finally be available in ARM64 Windows, including Sentinelle products. 😱👏👏👏
It’s the year breakthrough after OpenAI, we cannot wait to see Xiaomi Mac quality laptop with the most powerful Snapdragon X CPU in the market, an ARM Fanless laptop, no noise and full day battery. Congratulations Qualcomm for the achievement.
Exciting times in the world of mobile processors! The new Qualcomm Snapdragon Orion SoC looks great on paper with impressive specs and features. However, it's essential to remember that raw benchmarks and numbers only tell part of the story. Geekbench is fantastic for measuring performance and creating those fancy slides for presentations, but real-life application usage is what truly determines a chip's value.
While it may not compete head-to-head with the Apple M3 in certain aspects, we're seeing an incredible level of innovation and competition in the mobile processor market. Different vendors are pushing the boundaries and delivering unique strengths. It's not just about who's on top, but also about the diversity of options available to consumers. So, let's embrace these exciting times as we witness the industry evolve and cater to a wide range of user needs! 📱💥

Good to see some competition. Hope this going healthy in the future world.
My concern is can I run Snapdragon X Elite without compromise on a Windows 10 laptop?
I don't want to use Windows 11 anytime soon.
Any Windows 11 laptop I buy I will install Windows 10 on it.
What's the issue with Windows 11
can you elaborate?
Competition is always great 👍
Looks cool, let me know when windows on arm gets development focus Ando can use professional apps natively
It feels ingenuine not comparing anything to AMD CPUs
2:25 nobody else think the x86 graph looks a bit skewed? It’s 3,192 vs 3,227 but the bars are way more different for a difference of 35.
Wow, thanks!!! The visual difference between bars looks like 15% which would mean a performance delta around 500 points. How could one miss that ;)
All those low power consumption ratings makes it sound like the ideal 24/7 server CPU
Qualcomm, apple, intel, amd, nvidia sheesh we are on heat everyone

That’s cute snapdragon flexing before the M3 Max Monday
This Apple fanboy thing is real. How did it come to tech professionals who are usually unbiased… oh some r not professional. Competition has always been a good thing…
And the M3 Chip? I guess we will find out next week. Qualcomm does have great technology.
M3 sucked tbh😂 especially M3 pro
Very good to see, but the issue now will be if they can be well optimized in the devices that will feature these chips, because one thing is making a good chip and another is a good device and incorporation to go with it, that’s why Apple is ahead because they make both the Hardware, software and chips themselves…
Apple isn't a chip maker. They design the chips. TSMC makes the chips for them. The difference is that they design it, just like Google with Tensor and formerly Samsung with Exynos.
But its like you said. A tight integration of hardware and software
Why aren't they comparing with same chips that they initially compared the performance with?
Get ready for some insanely powerful Droid tabs too. 🤩
Exciting to see the actual product review compared to m2 max
M3 pro will be launched next week. Hopefully Qualcomm's chips will still be competitive. One thing is for sure, Apple has for the first time rushed their chip reveal and that's due to the low demand of m2 chip and concern with Qualcomm. You love to see it, competition is always good, because us consumers win
@@MonsieurGuyhonestly it's already impressive that they managed to compete with the m2 max. It would be VERY exciting if it could compete with m3 pro/max, gotta love big corporations competing with each other lol
tbh the current situation aint about the chip's performance.
Its about the apps.
though it rly isnt what qualcom can do much about.
Hope the app ecosystem develops soon, cuz the idea of arm chip laptop does temp me A LOT
Now imagine we can just hook up GPU with that through pcie slot or something like that that would be great.
ooh m2 max... isnt M3 coming next week :)
Can it run crysis?
The gpu is amazing comapred to 780m, id love if they made desktop dgpu with this level of efficiency and perormance theyd own the market.
Question is ….are they talking about performance when is connected to charger or actually laptop style free from power cable?
Now, we wait for October 30 for apple's mac event
Imagine Steam Deck 2 with this chip.
GPU side, this won't come closer to Nvidia and AMD the same way the M2 is only good for GPU only when they use specific graphic programs because of the specific encoders.
