I have the same car 2021 prestige 2.5 twin turbo black diamond and cream interior have now 26,000 miles and it gets good mileage for a heavy vehicle. The car is fast enough to merge into fast moving traffic on I 95 but have to use high test and not complaining heated and cooled front seats and heated back seats plus a great radio and 21 speakers..the ambient lights can be changed to your liking…just a great car😊
I rented a 2021 G80 3.5tt to drive home to New Orleans for Mardi Gras. The car is awesome. The power is immense. The fit and finish are with the exception of Bentley or RRoyce is unparalleled! I plan to purchase a 2021 G80 later this year. There isn't anything that looks like it on the road. It garnered attention wherever I was. There is no perfect car. The only negatives are; the trunk is small, premium gas mileage can go as low as 13mpg, if you get high from frequently pressing the right pedal. And the rear seat doesn't fold. But the car is so good that I can live with those short comings. In summary, I strongly advocate this car over any car that is less than 70k.
Great video bro I really like the intro music where can I find thaaat, Gensis is just making all the right moves in all the right places and if the actually make that Genesis X it'll be everyone's favorite brand and get.even more recognition hopefully
Kevin, as always, thank you for your intuitive review. A few questions. How do you feel the turbocharged 4 and turbocharged 6 cylinder versions of this generation compare to the naturally aspirated versions of the V6 and the V8 from the previous generation? Also, how do you feel this generation drives compared to the ES350? Would love to have either some day in the next couple years.
Thank you my friend! And I liked the previous NA V6 but the transmission performance was nowhere near as good as the new G80. So the only "issue" with drivetrain I notice now on the new cars is a small delay off the line but excellent after that feels very close to the ZF 8 speeds found in BMW now. Compared to the ES both vehicle are built for cruising and taking it easy so handling isn't the best in either but I will give the edge to the G80 because it is a RWD platform and understeers less than the ES. Surprisingly, I think the previous generation G80 had a slightly better driving dynamic than this new G80, but new G80 rides even softer and is a bit more quieter than the old G80 so really depend on what you're looking for. Both ES and G80 are great luxury cars.
I've owned both a 2015 Hyundai Genesis and a 2017 G80 both were the 3.8 normally aspirated V6. My new 2021 Prestige G80 turbocharged 4 is just as potent at the 3.8 in the prior cars EXCEPT, and this is big deal, the engine is very crude when it starts and stops. This tractor engine does not belong in a luxury car. The car shakes and lurches. The worst part is when the auto start and stop is engaged, which is the default setting, the car seems to have three bangs that shake the car from head to tail like a wet dog that just got a bath. The worst part is the dealer service manager is clueless what do do, so he has done nothing. I have calls into Genesis customer service but they seem to be waffling also.
I want this. And I could have one. But I'm a 52-year-old truck driver. It would seem so out of place because it's just so fancy. I would feel like I need to hide it from everyone I know. And the funny thing is, I'm considering a mainstream pickup truck which is in the same price range and higher, and I wouldn't feel like I needed to hide it. The auto industry is just weird right now.
@@MeynMotorGroup Hehe. I'm actually considering going with a '15 GS for about half the price. With the ML of course. Kevin , I am looking for the new to me car . I am looking for LS460 ( 2015-2017) . I also consider the Genesis . Which car I should get , please advise . Thanks .
Hmm consider the price of that LS460, see if you can find one CPO at a lexus dealership. If you find one, test drive on the highway and town and see if there is a lot of wind noise coming from the driver side window. If there is you probably have to replace the molding on the window area. For about 35-40k you can find a G90 with a 5.0 V8 and AWD with like 30k miles on it. This will be a newer car like 2017-2018 more features and quiter etc. But keep in mind as of now Lexus has a better dealership experience, see how the Hyundai/Genesis dealer in your area is rated and take both cars on a thorough test drive. @@MeynMotorGroup Oh ok yea all the other car reviewers are reviewing similar cars. I just really like that 5 spoke look. I think it’s clean man. I hope more dealerships start carrying them.
I originally really liked this car. Even considered getting one. Watched it from from concept to Korean release to here etc . I've now come to the conclusion that I find the g80 a bit obnoxious looking. The front grill is toooooo much. The back looks frumpy....is that a word? I'm very impressed with interior quality and while we don't get all the tech the Koreans get it is impressive. But I'm not a fan of screens sticking out of the dash no matter how large it is. Bring that screen closer so both occupants can reach it, then get rid of the control dial, and get rid of the dial shifter and put a proper shifter in its place like Audi....now it's perfect. While Genesis likes to think they are competing with top German cars, I don't think they are there quite yet and therefore it's priced too high especially in Canada.
I am leaving the Japanese and going Korean finally after looking at luxo sedans for 3 years. Test drove a G80 5.0 ultimate and knew it was the car to get. Sealed the deal when I looked at the stored music list and it was all Vintage Kpop and lady driven.
You really have been on my channel for about 3 years test driving cars I really do remember that. I'm glad you finally settled on something. You were all over the place too really can't believe you considered a lincoln at one point
@@MeynMotorGroup it just took me having to drive the LS430, 460, ES350, is350, Avalon, G80, G90, and Lincoln Mkz, and SC430 to come to that conclusion lol
That's understandable big purchase and at least you went drove all the best vehicles to get a good idea you really know what the top level cars feel like on this planet especially after you drove the G90. But I personally like your choice with the G80 and a V8 it is more fun to drive than G90
@@MeynMotorGroup Forgot about the K900 lol Yeah, the g80 is the better drivers car than the rest. I kept getting stares driving the car, which i'd have to say no other car got the same attention. It has to all come down to the color, especially since all luxury cars are bland colors usually. The Ibiza blue/ ivory is the best g80 color. If I went new gv80/80 I'd gave to go with the green metallic or the red over the rest. Before I saw and drove the g80 the following week after sitting in the gv80. I thought I wanted to go for a gv80, my dealer has a 2.4t RWD prestige trim on Gold coast/ dune arriving next month. The g90 was too big for a daily and I didn't like the glossy wood and piano gloss plastic dash trim layout.
Everyone forgets the K900 I still haven't even driven one lol not even an old one. Oh yea I forgot about the glossy wood on the G90. G80 fully loaded gets matte wood 🪵
Doesn't hold a candle to the G80 5.0 V8 or 3.8 V6 in my opinion. I got plenty of stares driving the old G80 5.0 in Ibiza blue, why would I pay over double the price for a slower car and worse engine?
Well I'm glad you found what you were looking for buddy but this is quite a machine can't really deny it. Exterior interior design has really been enhanced along with tech and of course refinement
Take it to the 1/4 mile track every week, or once a month? 😅 i'll never understand the infatuation with huge HP on these luxury cars. You want to go fast, get a vette.
Would love to buy it but no folding rear seat. Can't begin to fathom what they were thinking. Every freaking doo-dad and feature included in the car -- except the one you really need in a sedan.
So most rear wheel drive sedans won't allow you to fold the rear seats because there is typically a rigidity brace running through the back seats. On a FWD car like the ES350 lexus that's annoying when you can't fold the seats in that
@@MeynMotorGroup -- That's not true in current generation mid-sized sedans. Plus, the 5-Series and the E-Class have had folding rear seats for decades. Even the ultra-high HP and torque-monster M5 has folding rear seats. Of course, the Lexus GS doesn't -- but look what is happening to that car. I'm POSITIVE the reason why Hyundai didn't do folding rear seats is cost cutting -- because they would have had to use more high strength steel -- and using less keeps the cost down. This also explains why the car weighs so much compared to the competition.
My dad is sixty years old, he’s a boomer, he thinks tech is cool and amazing. Gen X and Millennials are the same way. But, Zoomers grew up immersed in technology, it’s not amazing, we think it’s overdone and once we have the purchasing power its presence will recede. Most boomers think an Apple Watch is cool while people my age (16-22) think it’s too much, they appreciate a real watch.

3.8 Liter or 5.0 Liter Genesis G80 big engines in the past, now they go small with over worked turbos, engine quality goes down in general to meet EPA rules. too bad. 2018 G80 design is better than the current parallel line lights, sorry, it is not a good design. not a fan of turbos, longevity does not happen with turbos.
True…..went to look at the G70(2021)…saw a beautiful black 2021 g80 2.5 advanced…..was a little afraid to test drive it, with good reason as it was over 10k more than the g70 I had driven….The G80 looks beautiful in my driveway now
When are you going to start sponsoring auto products and getting more business bang for your buck? You've built such a trustworthy brand that consumers would follow. As long as you stick to your roots of integrity and transparency, you'd continue to add value to your viewers and lose no respect as a reliable auto consumer report channel.
Haha I appreciate that, well lately I've been getting more and more sponsors hitting me up but nothing so far I would pull the trigger on and also, lots of scams going on so hard for me to choose what's legit and what's not. I'm actually not against a shill as long as it's for the betterment of society, we all need products and I certainly like recommending a good product. But brands that I like and products I like are typically mass corporations that won't even bat an eyelid to a roach like me 😂 for instance I would like to work with SunTrust Bank and recommend their lightstream financing service, would even take on a Banana Republic sponsor because I can throw their polos and pants into a washer & dryer and not shrink...but they will never acknowledge me lol
Dude, have you tried though? Never say never. And you could actively search out smaller brands for product trials. It's worth the effort in my opinion. You have so much potential but I think you don't ask enough. I.e you don't even ask viewers to remember to like the video if they found it interesting or useful.

Oh yes the motor yea that's what I was mentioning towards the end of the drive the 4 cylinder is fine until you have to rev it out to max RPM so the best and most refined way I found to drive the 4 cylinder is to just ease into the throttle and never floor it to redline
I like the looks, but carrying on like that seems like they are paying you. I've had a Hyundai since 2008 and I've been able to rely on it every single day. However, they have a long way to go before they are honest contenders for Audi or Mercedes, it's an image thing, and that doesn't just come to it overnight. The place where they really shine is in dependability and cost of ownership, and thankfully they haven't succumbed to those god awful huge tv screens in the front seat like the others have.
I'd have to see it in person, but it looks a little "busy" for my taste...especially the exterior. To me, it looks like a Chinese luxury car knock off with better Korean build quality.

@@MeynMotorGroup ok but the other test said she was getting 12 which is ridiculous! It’s put me off a bit.
That's understandable styling is subjective
I don’t think Genesis likes to think they compete with BMW. That’s only what you think. I like the screens and dials.
Does it have massage?
Review the newer G90! Esp with that 5.0 L V8
I hope I get that opportunity!
They will gain market share
Absolutely
I’ve allready seen a few GV80s around in the Chicago area
@@JDMSwervo2001 yea few down here in NC G80s I've seen maybe 3 in my area
That Genesis not bad. I prefer Lexus all day. Good content 💯
Def test drive one!
@@mikexcanxjerk I got a ES and LS so yeah probably get the GS and a GX 470.
Now that’s a sexy sedan!
For sure!
@@MeynMotorGroup Forgot about the K900 lol
Yeah, the g80 is the better drivers car than the rest.
Oh I witnessed it
Haha very nice as you should
Jeez that looks like a jaguar mixed with a Cadillac. The suv look like a Cadillac mixed with a rolls truck. That's crazy Hyundai made that....✊✊
I gotta buy one of these before too many people catch on….they $30-40k 😅
I Love G80 is Faster Than a Dodge Charger 2021
Depends on which one haha
@@MeynMotorGroup what Are You Laughing About
Doesn't hold a candle to the G80 5.0 V8 or 3.8 V6 in my opinion.
i'll never understand the infatuation with huge HP on these luxury cars.
That's why I said MOST not all
thanks for the review #sedanman
Haha thank you!
Good
My dad is sixty years old, he’s a boomer, he thinks tech is cool and amazing.
I can kinda see that!
@@MeynMotorGroup You’re wearing a real watch in the video, you didn’t like the touch screen climate controls, I don’t really like huge screens etc
I'm humbled the good ol Seiko SKX has been recognized as a true watch ⌚🙏
Hmmmmm I kinda want Genesis to stay a niche brand like Volvo ! Don’t wanna see these every five seconds/keep them rare 👌🏽👌🏽...and those wheels are nice 👍🏽
Yea I def know what you mean, I also like that Genesis is not super mainstream but I guess from the company point of view I'm sure they want to keep selling as many units as possible haha
@@MeynMotorGroup yeah ! I def want them to sell but still be a rare sight ! Interesting that the ventilated seats in the test vehicle weren’t working well. My Sonata’s ventilated seats work wonders and I’m easily prone to getting hot & sweating
Yea that was really disappointing! Usually I've noticed all these functions typically work great in Hyundai, Genesis, and Kia vehicles but idk what happened here. Glad all Is well with your Sonata, great ride!
Told my dad to buy one of these instead of a benz
He said no because he said it looks wierd 😐
Haha yea looks are subjective idk I thought these new Genesis designs had a true 6 figure aura to them
@@MeynMotorGroup for real as well as that it's cheaper by a little bit than the Mercedes
I bought a g80 5 months ago it is very nice beutiful fantastic and far beyond Lexus in style and performance Lexus is too boring and old so very vey satisfied with g80
Thanks for sharing
The disk is gone back to nob for newer Genesis models.
How Doug Demuro has millions of subscribers and you don't is a mystery haha
Haha well I guess he just has more charisma than me and he's a lot less boring. I appreciate the support I get
@@MeynMotorGroup idk man I like your more chill approach and also you put out a lot more content on used cars which is awesome
I'm humbled by that and thanks! I've been slipping on the used car content but I got a used 2017 Civic SI review coming soon with 100k miles on it!
He's such a dork!!
Rims too busy with all those horizontal lines from the lights and side turn signals. Definite blunder but falls comfortably short of hideous.
Rims are...interesting to say the least 😂
Well you can’t please everyone. Cars are either considered bland or hideous in your words.
Whatever you do, do not test drive a genesis or it will end up in your driveway
Yea that's true I'm on cargurus rn looking at G90s despite me being poor 😂
@@SucceedbyForce pushy pushy.
I think they still overpriced this by 8-10k

Lexus killer or still lexus winning?
Kind of but Lexus refinement and build quality is still excellent I can go either way honestly
Sounds rather noisy.
Not bad for 115 mph
When you were accelerating. I’m sure at a cruise it fine
I really like this car... But I am not spending $40-50k LOL.
I'd have to see it in person, but it looks a little "busy" for my taste...especially the exterior. To me, it looks like a Chinese luxury car knock off with better Korean build quality.
Haha yea I know what you mean yea try to visit a dealership, their early products like the 09 Genesis sedans I always said it looked like some knock off Alibaba luxury car 😅. I think these new cars have some great presence and get a lot of attention but def subjective of course. Thanks for stopping by my friend!
