I've been binge watching your channel recently since finding y'all.. I just love how you are teaching your kiddos all this knowledge on how to live, feed yourself and fix things. God bless y'all. I like when you eluded to one farm equipment being jealous of the new one and holding out on ya, lol.
New subscriber here, and I love your channel!! Your videos are real life, the good, the bad, the ugly, the highs, the lows, and most importantly what FAMILY really means. I love that you show how to plant and grow a garden, how to keep livestock, and how to preserve all of it while teaching your children too. I grew up in the mountains of East TN, Roan Mountain area, not far from Banner Elk, NC and your videos remind me so much of home. Please don't ever change your channel!! God bless you and your awesome family!!
Enjoy spending time with your family so much! Thank you for your channel, it's been a blessing. I'm old and enjoyed gardening but can't do it anymore and watching you all takes me back to happier days. God bless.
I am 76 years old and you are living the life I would have loved to live. Love the children how well behave they are.God bless you ! You are a beautiful couple. Great parents! Love you all!!!
I love cooking fire especially if it's alder tree would taste so nice When we went camping all the time with mom and dad that's all we used to cook over or tree bark makes nice warm coals to cook over but never fur trees or cedar trees use fur and cedar and hemlock for heat because alder does not have any heat a lot of ash
There's nothing better than rowing up soft dirt simi wet planting corn, beans in a beautiful back woods area that's cool has shaded area's and cooking out doors over an open fire after a hard days work with the family, it doesn't get any better , i can feel the love, thank y'all very much for the memories .Larry
Your family has the best life. You will never worry about your kids, they are learning from you two. They will always know how to take care of themselves. Be proud of yourselves and kids. Keeping this way of life is hard work but, it's the best life in my book. It's always a pleasure to watch you'ns , that's what us north people say(LOL) God Bless, Hugs, Rebekah
Hi Andy ,Megan,Jacob & Maggie Nice to see you guys 😁 Your chicken cart turned out awesome 👍 Love the peace & beauty of your homeland 🦋 Have a blessed day!
That 140 is in outstanding shape for when it was made and they made them to last. Hard to believe they farmed and fed the world with those small tractors . Sure beat a Mule
The best on u tube Jame and Maggie are sweet hearts 💕 daddy mama great parents we all love you land is beautiful and gives us all back in million ways love prayers
The only problem with those baskets that you use that you cut out everybody that I've watched has problems with the chickens pooping in the nesting boxes they've started pulling theirs out at night altogether and they put a door on
I let one read it sit on the eggs last year my nest boxes are up pretty high but the chick got out of the nest box and the other chickens killed it😪😪😪And I raised one by myself and it was really tame we used to eat out of my mouth and everything tried to introduce it to the other chickens and every time I did it they would beat it up finally they got a little bit bigger so I left it in there with them and they ended up killing that one chicken are very mean
I used to love Rayden mini bikes that's all we had back in the day and my dad built mine was a homemade mini bike'cause couldn't afford to buy one well I think he could afford it he just didn't want to waste the money on one he was a logger truck driver she started winning his 15 driving light about his age I can remember flying through the trail when it opened up to the lot next door I dumped over mini bike fell over caught fire ran into the house got dad dad came out and put it up with a shovel and dirt fixed it back up and way I went to again good old Briggs and Strachan Motors never die rebuilt my first Briggs and dragon motor in grade 5 at school we had I forget what the day was called but it was every Friday at school half the afternoon everybody got signs projects and whatever different projects to work on and stuff it's fun and I went to I think it was called Mechanics
We have 3 silkie babies that were hatched by mom and being raised by their momma. They are in with our other chicks and all the silkie moms keep them protected.
Your children are so blessed to have Parents like you two. Teaching your children great life skills with love and kindness in such a beautiful part of the world. What a refreshing thing in todays superficial, lazy world.
Hello just ran across your channel and I love it , you don't see kids outside helping mom and dad. You guys have a real farm, most say they have farms but they don't eat what raise .I enjoy watching you cook, my mom used to cook like you.Y'all work so hard but you eat what you grow .Y'all have a blessed day
Lord have mercy, Wish I was there for those hamburgers ! I'm hungry ! That garden soil down in that holler looks great ! Can't wait to see it grow. Thanx for the video !
Looks like a great farmstead you are developing there. I'm concerned at the size of the milk crate handle holes on the chicken cart. A Long Tailed Weasel can easily get in, have a meal and shimmy back out even with a full belly. Maybe a wood framed construction cloth door panel with hinges across the top so it opens by unlatching and opening from the bottom? Weasels will take up residence nearby if the prey is plentiful and farms always have mice, chickens, feral cats and other typical farm setting snack that foxes, weasels, hawks, skunks and coyotes love to eat.
Good, the best first, POPCORN. YEAH!😅 loved the video. Quiet beautiful private area. Plenty of fresh oxygen. Good food. My oh my. The Chicken Truck looks so nice. Being moved by one, and not too heavy will simplify things no end. You know, back in the day they never took chicks away from their Mother, did they? That mom wanted her chicks and is loving them feeding them and protecting them best she can. Warms my heart to see that. I know you're keeping a good eye on them, and I bet Maggie will also be watching out for them too.❤😊
That was a good job starting the fire Jacob. One reason it takes a few strikes on the fire starter is clothes have flame retardant on the fabric. back in the day you could lite it in one strike.
Great work on the chicken cart! Love that you used materials you had on hand! Glad you got the garden started! Excellent camera work, too! I thoroughly enjoyed this video. Brings back such great memories. Planting the garden, swimming in the creek, and cooking outdoors are my favorite memories of my childhood. God bless you and your family!
What about a board that can fold down in front of the milk crates for cold, windy nights? The board can also be used to set the crates on when pulled out to collect the eggs.
Thanks so much for taking us along on your homesteading journey. Kudos to Jacob for his fire starting! I've lived in a house with a wood burning firebox for 17 years and I still struggle with getting that fire started - he made it look so easy! I'll have to take a page from his playbook next fall when I start having fires again!!! You all make my days much brighter with each video. God Bless you all!!
Very nice y'all! Everything you could ask for in the country! Hey Andy, I agree it's the wonder that 140 was even running going by that distributor cap! Great video y'all!
I love this old tractor. I have my Dad's 1957 Massey Ferguson Ford tractor he used. My son n law keeps it on his place. These older machines are hard to beat. Deer hate garlic so here in my flower gardens where I plant some food I plant garlic or onions to turn deer.
Hello, Andy & Megan I am a new subscriber as of today 4/3/24 . Love your down to earth why of living. Keep sharing your awesome videos and I will keep watching. 🌞
That's quite a convoy going across to that creek garden. 😊 I know what you mean about being in a peaceful place that seems away from the world. I live deep in the boreal forest 26 miles from the nearest village to get any supplies.
I think it's so funny how the chick's don't need chick food when they are raised with thier mama..😂 I had an ameracauna hatch 2 chick's last year. It was one of the highlights of my life😊 I swear the beauty of new life❤.
Great job, Jacob! Learned a neat trick and keep these in my old truck glovebox to start brush fires: cut straws in 2- 3" sections. Roll little bits of cotton in vasaline and poke to the middle of the straw. When starting fire, just cut a slit in the straw above cotton, pick a little bit of it out, and light. That fire starter would be the berries to use with them! Thanks for the demonstration, Jacob!
What soft and rich looking soil for your garden! You will raise a great crop there! And what fun having a cookout right there at the garden so you can enjoy hamburgers and hotdogs after working hard planting beans and corn! The new chicken tractor turned out really nice! I'm glad the two baby chicks are doing good and mama hen is keeping them safe!
I’m third gen with my grandfathers Farmall cub. We use the middle buster to open the furrow and fertilize. Then put the discs on to close the row. Then knock the top off the hill and plant seed with a cole planter in the rear
Meagan explaining about the distance she’ll be moving the chicken cart. Guess some folks thought you might be pulling it to town. Lol The tractor is purring like a kitten ! So much better. Jacob and the strawberry, reminded me of my granddaughter. She could eat her weight in cherry tomatoes. I walked by a bush once in my garden. It had probably 5-8 cherry tomatoes on it. I walked on like I didn’t even see them then turned quickly and they were gone ! When I ask if she had gotten them of course she shook the head no ! She said nothing other than the head shake. There was 2 reasons why she didn’t speak. She didn’t want the trouble for telling a lie and the main reason her mouth was packed so full of maters, she put a chipmunk to shame. Such good memories, thank y’all for sharing yalls with everyone
God has surely blessed you guys with a garden of Eden! LOVE the place by the creek!! Can you adopt me? I'm a good gardener, hog raiser, chicken lady, beekeeper and cook! 🤣 But Meg, you will have to teach me how to milk a cow. lol
I enjoy you're so much we used to do gardening. When my dad was alive i'm sixty seven and I Wish I could still do the things you all.Do I'll watch your show every day on RUclips Own t v Thank you You have. Always enjoy your videos! We're planning to plant popcorn this evening and I'm so excited! We had some new ground plowed this year to extend our growing area. I lost my Mother last December and I really need the sunshine and garden this year to lift my spirits.
I love the new chicken cart and like y'all said, you can put it anywhere you want. The 140 is running like a Singer sewing machine since you changed out the distributor cap Andy. I'm like you, It's a wonder it would run at all with all the corrosion on the old one. Brother you made some million dollar soil down on the creek by plowing in all those cover crops. Homegrown hamburgers down by a Stokes County creek, now that's living. Y'all have a great evening!
Please put me on the popcorn list. I use to grow that variety. I love it. Will buy several pounds from you all. Best wishes as always from Wisconsin, Deb

What an inspiration video! Much love from Missouri!❤
We try to repurpose many things when building stuff. It's a challenge we enjoy😊plus saving money is great, of course.

Awesome job! You can use all thread/threaded rod, probably way cheaper. Stay safe, and God bless
