Sounds ideal to me to fund a disused facility and keep it safe and accessible to the public.

When you initially said theme park, I was a no straight away but after the explanation I'm all in. It's more adventure playground and if that gets people outside then I'm all for it. It's not going to be a blot on the landscape. I get the village worries and they could circumvent this with a new dedicated road. But yeah, I'm all in.

Hi Jack, Good to see you out with Emma again and what a great idea for a video.
Ive had a look at the website and read the comments here, like Chris Bentley the words Theme Park worried me at first, then I saw some of the comments on pricing and started to wonder wether there is enough demand to make it viable on what is being proposed at the moment. Once these places get started then its probably easier for them to modify their content and conditions.
Ive been to the Eden project which is similar in some ways, they also have concerts there, Elton John was one which my sister went to see. From what I recall the roads there are very well equipped for the heavy industrial traffic.
Be interesting to see what happens.
    Good luck from Spain!!
    PS. Nice boots Emma!!

Hey David I think it’s slightly over reacted from the community to stop it going ahead. Funny that 1 social media post with some wrong wording can completely ruin someone’s plans. Actually looking into the proposals I can’t see why the village wouldn’t want it

Love this. Everything new is met with controversy. Only until it has exceeded expectations if given the chance does it become a staple of the area.

It's better than what most quarry companies do and cash in on making the site a landfill.
We love it around Elterwater and have been to Zipworlds sites in Wales. I can see it working.

It's a stunning area, but even if making some attractions would be fun, they don't seem financially realistic. The tree top routes seem the most realistic, but the ziplines would have to be part of it, and not seperate.
Seems like making a bunch of official walking routes around the area could be a good option too tbh.
Anyhow, 't was a fun vid as always.

If the prices are the same as their Wales ziplines, then it probably wont get ultra busy, at £79 for a child who has to be accompanied by an adult, and £129 for the adult, its a rather expensive experience for what is a 3-4 minute zipline ride, just as people are starting to feel the crunch in their wallets with the energy prices at the moment. Only time will tell i suppose.

Very true hadn’t even thought about admission pricing. I don’t think there is a zip world in England at least I couldn’t see it mentioned but the one in Wales I’ve seen videos of. Does look really good but as you say if that is price it is on the steep side! The Lake District isn’t cheap these days either in the tiny villages expect to pay a lot for anything

the biggest park in Germany, Europapark Rust, is 55 Euro for an adult and 47 for a child, not cheap but your prices are impossible.....

Growing up in small villages with limited road infrastructure, I can understand the concerns locals might have. However, something like this can also be a lifeline to a community and bring in the extra tourist £££ that can help keep the younger generations from moving away due to lack of jobs/income. Properly managed and planned, this could be a great thing…plus i love a good zip line!

This is just a bad idea. I have experienced similar sites and the influx of folks to the area might be good for local businesses but the downside is the traffic and trash it brings to the surrounding towns, even if access is limited. I rather enjoy a place as it is ... !!

And I did enjoy the place today! So does it really need it if people can already enjoy it currently? Probably not?!

It would be a great attraction, however, what will become of the village? What about everything everyone leaves behind? Yes I'm talking about the WC bit too.
I did have a former GF say she could hear the ants and plants but she did say she was on LSD.

The Forbidden Corner has a similar 'booking only, limited numbers' system that seems to work well, with Middleham not appearing to get overwhelmed. So, between that, not calling it a theme park and the exorbitant prices (if they're the same as in Wales) it shouldn't be massively disruptive.
Though I would have thought that creating something based in the caverns would make more sense as then it would give tourists somewhere to go when it rains (and it does rain there!), but these all seem to be outdoor activities so not an attractive alternative for a family wanting to avoid another damp day out.

Hey there again Jack. Just caught up on tour two newest videos and this one makes me sad. This Quarry is something I've explored and photographed several times. It's a hidden gem and you don't see it all over Instagram like Dinorwic et Al... My girlfriend and I see it as our own little secret. Known mostly to those who know it so to hear these plans for it are quite upsetting. As fun as the activities sound my family and I visit the Langdale Estate for 2 weeks a year. Elterwater is a treasured place for us so if hate to see the place become more of a tourist spot than it already is. My motives are selfish I guess as businesses could benefit but with a theme park Co. E's inconsiderate peoe, litter, erosion, graffiti etc. So it's a no from me.
BTW I went to check out The Strid the other day. Awesome place. Bolton Abbey in general is fantastic. I didnt film there. Just a day out. My Malham circular video will be out in a couple weeks though

nothing wrong with wearing trainers on the mountains (in britain, in summer) every mountain ive ever been up in the lakes (quite a few, well a lot) ive done in none specific but well fitting trainers, reebok classics being a good one because a lot of them have thick enough soles to stop the stones digging into your feet, theyre lighter, more comfortable and allow more movement of your feet/ancle than boots, downside is you look like a chav and theyre not great in the wet.
loadsa people tell you will need boots, maybe in wet winter conditions yes, but its probably just marketing doing the rounds as usual, ya know, buy this new model i-phone bull. anyway we never had boots the last tens of thousands of years of our existence, yet here we all are doing just fine. sorry, rant over. just wear what you want😊😊

    • @jackasnacks
      @jackasnacks  2 года назад +1

We used to roam about in trainers all the time together so I’d have to agree it’s quiet normal 😂 I think the main benefit I enjoy about the boots is the ability to keep my feet dry for longer but I do love a good run out in the trainers. Light on the feet!

I would bet $ that if started this project will be abandoned before completion. I dont think the projected profits would be worth it after construction and upkeep would break it, this will be discovered half way theough construction and it will likely get sold partially completed to another company that isnt near as ambitious

Hi Jack and Em great idea to let folks who don't live there know what is planned. As just a visitor to the Lakes feel those with the biggest influence are the people who live there and should have the most say what is planned for where they live. I hope they get the out come they want. Look forward to the next video.

Cheers Susan, just the discussion about the development has lead more people there! Elterwater is one of the smaller villages i have visted in the lakes. I've driven through the valley a number of times but never had reason to stop. The visit was lovely we enjoyed the day out!
