One key feature missing from the Lite is the rumble. It's key in some games, like Luigis Mansion, when you need rumble to identify certain items. The workaround on the Switch Lite wasn't a good approach.
Here’s what I see things if you’re more of a traveling person, prefer to play games portably and prefer to play one person games get the Switch Lite. If your someone who prefers to sit down playing games, who wants to play games with other people and cares about long game play get the normal Switch. If you prefer to play solo games get the Switch Lite, if you want to play games with other people then get the normal Switch. Pretty much one of theses reasonings will be the main reason why you should buy the Switch Lite or the normal Switch
MikeConqueror yeah definitely buy the regular switch for sure and for a first game I recommend smash bro’s or Mario Odyssey. Good luck and I hope you enjoy it😁
@@gunstarrgames it has no dock support or kickstand. even you buy a kickstand case, sure will be fun always playing a meter away on a 5.5 inch screen and after getting the Pro controller, you're only 50 away from getting the proper Switch.
That resolution bit is huge. On a portable device, pixel density plays a major role. I was assuming that they reduced res as well as screen size, but I'm glad they didn't.
As someone who recently picked up a Switch Lite while owning the OG Switch, I'm enjoying both. I more use the Lite for bedside gaming and daytime outings with a lot of stop and go. I still use the OG for near-daily docked play, but I bring that with me for overnight travel or knowing I'm gonna be in one place for a long time, where I can justify tabletop playing. My only two hangups are 1) I wish downloading games and cloud saves to a new system was a bit more seamless, and 2) You really start to feel that hurdle transferring game saves that aren't compatible via cloud saves; It's not hard or even terrible, but it feels like more work than it needs to be.
They should make a switch lite s where it’s just a switch light but you can dock it and play on the tv. But it won’t come with an extra controller so they can keep costs down
Both the switch lite and standard switch are wonderful. It just depends on how you’re going to use the console. And if you like both of them, you can always buy one first and then later on you can buy the other one!
The dpad feels so comfortable, when I’m playing BotW it is a lot more comfortable to swap weapons, it is a lot harder to damage the Lite and when I hold my friends normal switch it just tells clunkier once you use a Lite.
Replacing switch lite joysticks are fairly easy as long as you have the tools and are careful. Would say it takes as long as taking a part normal joycons.
Just bought the regular Nintendo Switch today at one of our local Walmart stores. I been checking all Walmart stores within 30 miles range and finally found a store which had 1 regular Nintendo Switch in stock so I bought it. The Walmart stores in our general area has Nintendo Switch Lites in stock maybe 1-2 at a store if you are lucky. But I wanted a regular Nintendo Switch so I could connect it to my 43" 4K TV and play it that way. One small included feature on the regular Nintendo Switch I like is the fact it has a kickstand built in. For when you want to remove the joy cons and setup the main display using the kickstand then play it that way.
What concerns me is the joycons motion controls. Aren't there games that require the joycons to be unattached? If so, they're unplayable on the Lite version
same, i also don't really like how the joy-cons aren't a thing with the lite, the main thing with the switch is the joycons, and without that it's just eh
After 2 months with a regular switch. I havent even dock it. Could have bought the lite ver but my fear of the drift got me to purchase the the normal one
sry to make you guys sad but the switch lite actually does not have a chip in the thing to out put to a TV so even if you were to connect it to a dock it would not show
I got a switch lite a few days after it was released. It started drifting in the first month. Decided to upgrade to a regular switch. Best decision I could have made. The switch lite is getting listed on ebay. >_
It's faulty though. You're still covered by warranty. Why wouldn't you take advantage of the warranty to have it repaired or replaced then sell it on eBay.
Here's a couple of ideas that popped into my head while watching this video: 1. Regarding the grip problem of the switch lite, if you don't want or have access to 3rd party grips or cases, maybe something like a clay doh material? Hear me out, 3rd party grips usually come with a lot of bulk more so for some that has added protection to it, but with something like clay doh that you can just stick to the back of your switch lite, you can just remove it just as easily...maybe, plus with the added benefit of contouring the clay doh to the actual shape of your hand due because...it's clay doh. Just an idea at the top of my head, well aware that it has some storing/hygienic issues, but that would be like the most budget switch lite grip if someone gets it to work. 2. Since the switch lite still has a bluetooth functionality, maybe Nintendo can enable the whole unit to function as a separate controller in a future update? Like a whole pair of joycons to the original switch when it is docked. Instead of handing over a tiny joycon to your friend to play in tabletop mode or across the tv, just let them use the switch lite that they already brought as a controller on its own to your original switch.
I own a normal switch that I had to share with my brother. He kept it to himself and only let me use it one day a week even though it belonged to both of us. We couldn’t afford another switch but we could afford a switch lite and I prefer handheld play. The only things missing are the detachable joycons, hd rumble, and the ability to use it as a home console. The switch lite is just for handheld. I love it, it fits perfectly in my hands and is so much lighter and very comfortable. People said that while playing, your hands would cover up the speakers on the bottom, which is not the case. They’re close but don’t cover. And you can connect other switch controllers and joycons to it. A very nice, lower priced alternative to the switch.
Regular switch can dock which is worth the £100 more for me as I'll nearly always play docked and if I'm not I have a better battery life so if the lite is meant for portability it doesn't do that great if it has a worse battery life.
Good video what I like about your channel is that you are an actual gamer. And you can tell that you actually know what you're talkin about because you played the games and you're not just reading from a scrips that somebody else wrote.
I've seen this before 1:18, were the screenflashes to his merchandise...its a tactic people use to make the viewers buy their stuff without realizing what showed on screen. Not cool.
I love my Pokemon edition switch lite it’s really awesome I’m actually glad that i did not buy the switch when it came out because this console feels right in hand and i love playing on the go.
I love my switch lite device! I play handheld most of the time and it’s lite and small that’s what it makes it perfect! ❤️ This device shouldn’t be compared to the regular switch.
great video, you included everything! after watching a lot of these i think i’m sure that the lite is better for me. i wouldn’t play it docked at all, and the only features of the og switch i’d like are the detachable joycons and he rumble. plus for the price difference i can get two games!
Ppl: if u want portability go for the switch lite. Original switch: was my primary advertising a joke to you? Switch lite: allow me to introduce myself
@@spider-mancantsee5875 Forgot about this comment 😂 I ended up playing with both because I own a switch lite and a friend of mine plays smash on a normal switch. Now I get the whole docking your switch thing, still I'm super happy with my switch lite
it really just depends if you want it on your tv or not. As a person like myself that isn’t a huge tv person idc to have it show up on my tv, it’s a lot better just handheld and easier when you’re on the go and wanna take it with you :)
I’ve had my switch since launch, and I’m not gonna lie, when I bought it, I thought I’d only be using it in handheld mode. However, with over 2 years of use from it now, I can confidently say I would’ve highly regretted buying a switch lite, as I love being able to switch between handheld and tv mode.
I have both, they both have their uses. My OLED I like to keep at home and for when people come over. My lite I take to work or on the road. It's real small you can put it in your pocket
*1* The text size might SEEM like it’s a bigger problem on the Lite, but I’ve found it’s not an issue whatsoever. *2* The Switch Lite cannot be rivaled for handheld mode. It’s the perfect handheld. Combined with the magnetic flip case, a dream come true. Used in conjunction with a docked Switch and just bounce saves back and forth via cloud saves (or transfer option for Pokémon) it’s the best possible setup
Does anyone know how to fix stick drift, whenever I try to re calibrate my controller it won’t move when I try to move the ball to the arrow (which is how you re calibrate it). I’m just gonna butynew Joycons for my Switch I think but idk.
This helps a lot. I have a ps4 pro and will most likely get a ps5 pro. I don’t really care about the docking i am just happy they made a dedicated handheld for the switch!!! Getting mine in May!!!!
I actually have a jacket that allows me to fit my regular Switch in its case in its side pockets. It is a winter jacket though, so in summertime I'll have to rely on that hoodie I have with the large inner pockets. IMHO, both versions of the Switch are terrible for portability, but one has tabletop and docked functionality, and the other does not, not to mention that the one that isn't a dedicated handheld has a better battery life for some reason, so for me the choice was clear.
I paid over 450.00 on Amazon for the Super Smash Edition with game before the Lite Switch came out. So me buying another one is a no no till maybe Switch Pro comes out.
I don’t have a regular switch or a switch lite , and I don’t know what to buy . I like that the regular switch is quite big , and the joycons can be detached ( I don’t really care about the dock mode ) , but it’s more expensive . As for the switch lite , I just prefer it because it’s cheaper.... what should I do ?
I’m going to get this for my sister since I already have a switch but I want to play Pokémon and smash Bros in areas with her but she could still play on mine
cxxl dxde it’s running smoothly with each game I’ve played including Warframe and Pokémon shield. Haven’t had much issues with it so far and still loving it.🥰
Kevin - some interesting tidbits I dug up about the Nintendo Switch:- Here's the reason why Bluetooth headphones won't work with the Nintendo Switch - again Nintendo decided to break the Bluetooth standard. The Switch uses a Bluetooth chip to communicate to the Joy-Con's, but Nintendo buggered up the specifications so they can support 8 controllers (and host) rather than 7+ host. This is why bluetooth headsets don't work on it. Oh and another piece of Nintendo "trickery", the USB-C port and voltages go against the USB C standard and this is causing the bricking issues with Non-Nintendo AC adapters - very convenient. In fact all Nintendo AC Adapters violate the USB-C PD (Powered Delivery) specifications setup by the USB-IF (USB Implementers Forum) standards. So in fact the USB-C connection looks and works like USB-C however its actually proprietary inside the Switch and AC Adapter. So where is this information on the box / manual? The Nintendo Switch AC Adapter does work well, however it has been "modified" to only operate on the following voltages - 5.0v-1.5A / 15.0v-2.6A. The 15.0v current is for when its docked, the rest are handheld and most USB C adapters don't have a 15.0v rail at 2.6A for docking mode, so if using the docked mode a lot, stick with the genuine charger. If Nintendo is not going to stick by established standards, use a proprietary connector instead of mutilating the USB-C PD standard. Seems to be a pattern here of f-up's from Nintendo. Breaking standards and implementing "proprietary" versions and they wonder why consumers are peeved? First the AC Adapter / Dock voltage and now this. Why the hell did all this get approved? It's a great device overall but for god's sake stick to standards established or use proprietary connectors and connection methods - it's not rocket science. As for the Switch joy-cons moving when held as per normal, this is due to another cost-cutting measure where instead of using metal rails on the joy-cons to match the metal rails on the side of the Switch, they went for plastic which flexes too much and gives relatively easy. Then to add the previous "warping" issues and "rear case cracking issues", Nintendo's quality has nosedived compared to previous hardware. In fact the Switch does not deserve the "Nintendo Seal of Quality" logo as too many "quality" corners were cut.
I love your channel very much bc I'm in New Zealand right, and so it's really expensive for a switch and my fam have been looking to buy one and you have helped me so much, thanks for all you do
Like you said, if you play multiplayer games with friends, it’s a no-brainer. The extra $100 is worth it when you consider the fact that it comes with two controllers, and even if the tiny joy-cons aren’t the ideal way to play, it still gives you the option. Not to mention, it actually let’s you “switch” between handheld and docked mode, which was the entire point of the console to begin with.
I have both the regular and the lite and I justified it in my head as “the regular switch is my normal everyday tv console (just like a ps4 or xbox)” and the switch lite is my upgrade to my 3ds 🤪
@@Ugubgugb i got the full sized one after joy con issues. I recommend getting the full one, for flexibility if joy cons mess up, also you can use on the tv actually nice option to have. It's not that much bulkier to keep around, yeah it's heavier in handheld but I've never had issues. With either purchase get another controller like 8bitdo and avoid using the joy cons
@@Ugubgugb not really. You have to take the console apart, empty out everything from the back, then put it back together to do it myself. Repair centers were closed.cos of Covid so i just got an 8bitdo controller.
It's really not that hard to pop the switch lite apart, and replace the 6 to 12 dollar joystick at home. It's like a 15 minute job. Most the replacement joysticks on Amazon come with the tools needed, and instructions to install the joysticks.
I'm quite interested to dock the switch and play through my beautiful display and sound system, but I also don't see myself heavily investing in the console as there are only a few games I want to play. this has left me indecisive.
I bought the lite because of quarantining and the fact that the switches are $500 now due to supply and demand during the covid-19 outbreak and I love it! Granted I am playing solo no Mario cart or super smash bros with family for a solo console I treat it like a gameboy and love it! But if you can wait for the switch to come back in stock I could see waiting for it.
The fact that it doesn't "switch" takes away from the beauty and magic of why I fell in love with it. It's almost false advertising to call it a Switch
Yeah! And they made special edition GameBOYs specifically for girls, like wtf Nintendo. Totally betraying why I fell in love with the GameBOY. Hope they have good lawyers, cause I'm suing for false advertising to call it a GameBOY.
@@malcolmwilliams3469 Also I was told "Vita" meant "life", but they killed that system like 3 years in like wtf totally the opposite of "life". We should all band together and stop Sony's injustices imo.
7:35 This is literally what I'm doing. I have a Lite, got my sister a Lite, and trying to get Lites for my two you get brothers. Not to mention, it will prevent fights of who's turn it is on the Switch. A Lite for everyone will avoid that.

My only two hangups are 1) I wish downloading games and cloud saves to a new system was a bit more seamless, and 2) You really start to feel that hurdle transferring game saves that aren't compatible via cloud saves; It's not hard or even terrible, but it feels like more work than it needs to be.

nooo i like the lite bc its only a handheld ill just stick to my original 3ds
Both the switch lite and standard switch are wonderful. It just depends on how you’re going to use the console. And if you like both of them, you can always buy one first and then later on you can buy the other one!
The dpad feels so comfortable, when I’m playing BotW it is a lot more comfortable to swap weapons, it is a lot harder to damage the Lite and when I hold my friends normal switch it just tells clunkier once you use a Lite.
I have been saving for a year to get the regular switch and finally have enough, until I saw the prices of the games.

Kevin: Do buy the switch lite
Also Kevin: Do not buy the switch lite
The fact that it can't dock is the big killer for me.
same, i also don't really like how the joy-cons aren't a thing with the lite, the main thing with the switch is the joycons, and without that it's just eh
After 2 months with a regular switch. I havent even dock it. Could have bought the lite ver but my fear of the drift got me to purchase the the normal one
Lens Hunter true but i actually bought it for the portability, i already had a pc and an xbox one and ps4
sry to make you guys sad but the switch lite actually does not have a chip in the thing to out put to a TV so even if you were to connect it to a dock it would not show
i think its only for people like me who already have a ps4 and xbox so i dont want another console connected to my monitor
Here's a couple of ideas that popped into my head while watching this video:

The lite has 3x the battery
Good video what I like about your channel is that you are an actual gamer. And you can tell that you actually know what you're talkin about because you played the games and you're not just reading from a scrips that somebody else wrote.
I've seen this before 1:18, were the screenflashes to his merchandise...its a tactic people use to make the viewers buy their stuff without realizing what showed on screen. Not cool.

Awesome! Did you ever get that lite, if you did, tell me how it is
They could have made the screen bigger. But I guess battery life is good on it due to the smaller screen size ...
So if you don’t care about it being docked, having more battery, bigger screen, and being able to takeoff the joy cons then get the switch light

So you can play with other people, or even if you just enjoy playing on a tv it’s better. It’s more do you plan on playing on the tv or more handheld.

it really just depends if you want it on your tv or not.

Kevin - some interesting tidbits I dug up about the Nintendo Switch:-
Here's the reason why Bluetooth headphones won't work with the Nintendo Switch - again Nintendo decided to break the Bluetooth standard.

PS4 : Black Friday is cool I guess
Xbox : Black Friday is alright
Nintendo : HELL NO
I have both the regular and the lite and I justified it in my head as “the regular switch is my normal everyday tv console (just like a ps4 or xbox)” and the switch lite is my upgrade to my 3ds 🤪
I opted for the lite. Freaking love everything about it. Now that I'm starting to get joystick issues I'm starting to regret it though...
@@Ugubgugb i got the full sized one after joy con issues. I recommend getting the full one, for flexibility if joy cons mess up, also you can use on the tv actually nice option to have.
