Getting old is so strange a person cannot relate unless they experience it themselves. In your mind you are the same person over time, but everyone else is aging and dying. You even recognize the point where you can actually see the exit ramp coming up. Also strange how this music seems to suspend time by providing an experience no different than when first heard over 40 years ago. Thanks, this hit the spot.
Very good observation. I'm dealing with the same feelings.
Completely agree brother🙏
I'm with you, we used had the most awesome stereo system with surround sound, music was once the most important thing in my life. Good memories
Very well said I know exactly what your saying but hay at least had it and still have it
It touched me deeply........
This isn't just an album, it's an epic event and a timeless masterpiece.
Im love pink floyd.
a fuckin' men.
Probably my favorite of theirs
I miss Syd Barrett, too I would love to see Pink Floyd
My husband introduced me to this song back in the 80's. He died 2 weeks ago. Boy do I wish he was here. 🥲😘
I’m so very sorry La La. Very best wishes.
Much love your way🙏
I'm so sorry for your loss.
So you had him for his time, what a legacy and you get to carry on. Don't forget to look around! Is there someone else?
@@troyhussey4463 Yes I did. I will forever be grateful that he was only ever mine. Taught me so much. But I can never replace what we had. My soul is satisfied and I don't feel the need to have anyone else.
My daughter is turning 20 this month and she loves Pink Floyd 💗 that's how good it is!!!
Good music is ageless
We are people here, commenting on this record after almost 50 years, like if it went out yesterday.... it must mean something...!
It does ! :)
It means that Pink Floyd is timeless! I am 66 years old and still the fan I have been 50 years ago!
Music invokes memories and pink floyd reminds me of my wilder days as a young man with some great drug experiences....I'm now 52 years old and it brings it all back...Welcome to the Machine.............. slave to the wage
How could it not?
It means EVERYTHING!!
I agree,I'm 63 watching friends die& aging but the music we grow up on is holding the test of time.✌
j'écoute cette musique et je me dit que qu'onque t'on age on est à deux à aller ensemble

Me too brother
Same hier 🙂there are no words to describe it... Pure love
i agree and same to me 😊
Amazing for me to thing that this album was released halfway between my Army training and my marriage. Now 70 years young, I am listening to this from my hospital bed and will be listening to Pink Floyd for the rest of the day. Magical, unique, timeless music that I can now share with my grandchildren...and so the wheel of time turns.
Pink Floyd is what I always return to! 'Martin, investigate the Carnivore diet. It will get you out of the hospital. I am 54, and in good health due to it. Nobody should be suffering. Start with Dr. Anthony Chaffee
Man didn't expect this comment. Hope you are doing well and that you'll be able to listen to this album again from the confort of your home. Greetings from spain!
When the calm persists you aren't allowed to finish, persistent lives will look up to you

God speed to you in your recovery, so that you can enjoy many more days of PF music.

There are 3 things you can count on in life. Paying taxes, dying and Pink Floyd's timeless incredible music. Its a good thing we have these amazing guys to fall back on when the journey gets rough!
That's _______ A man😅
I used to walk to school with this playing on my Walkman. 40 something years later it brings me right back to those days. Timeless.
Timeless indeed my friend!
A very great way to walk to school. To take this in before going in school is like making sure you don't (get) hit (by)... The Wall?!
There is music whits is timeles.

TRUE!!
Beautifully put. My favorite album of all time
Like most of pink floyds work luv all eras of the mighty no one comes close Pink floyd
A story, sure, but it's not a film nor an opera
@@yolo4dolo yeah its neither but the feeling I have while listening to this and after is as if I had just watched a great film or a great opera. The feeling of having witnessed something greater than usual.
This record is magic. I had one tape in my 67 VW bug when I drove from N Cal to Oklahoma City in 1982, and back again in 1983. Then I played this tape every time I flew anywhere, I would start the tape just as the wheels left the ground. I played it at the tops of mountains or on hiking trails or deep in caves. I road my bike around Yosemite Valley floor at night under a full moon. I wish I was in that good of shape now.
I wore out the tape after a few years, like my body is. But this music is still magical as ever.
Wonderful explanation
Bet that was cool.. awesome story
This is one album that is perfect from start to finish. Dave Gilmour's guitar makes me feel so relaxed and calm.
Only thing better is seeing them live. And I'm blessed to have done that.
As I am only 46 and heard this album at around 16 years of age, it hit me then, and it still hits me today. I absolutely love Floyd. It always makes a great day. I was around 15 with the Wall album, it is great too. Heck they are all great!
First heard of em early 70's, lost track of em, then my husband got me back into them. He died 😔 of cancer 7 yrs 😢 ago 😢. Brings great memories back 😢 💔 😞
Enjoy the beauty that is this masterpiece. RIP to your husband, I feel for you lost my wife in 2016...blessings to you.

I prefer to listen sober. The music takes me away and not the chemicals. Between Pink Floyd and Tangerine Dream I've traveled to some great places.
Pink Floyd has their own sound and you can't go wrong with a Pink Floyd tune
My husband passed away over a year ago and I do wish he was here but he is off so much better. He doesn't hurt or have any more pain.

Born in ‘73, introduced to Floyd in the ‘90’s. Heard plenty of genres - this, and all will always be a very, very special gem.☺️
Born 73 - Pink Floyd and weed was a match in heaven back in the early 90's. timeless, Pink Floyd, The Doors most played music on my spotify on anual review :)

heard this played in my uncle's home stereo in Sunday mornings in mid 80's, gives me the sense of limitation of time. That tomorrow everybody in the house will be back to their routine. I fell asleep at the Orange bowl concert. I had been listening to them on quad head phones for about ten years, falling asleep to them. All on eight track tape. Like looping a cd. It was a great concert!! Lmao
@@jeffeldredge1608 8 tracks! What a trip! I had Black Sabbath, Savory Brown and Yes on 8 track. Always stuck to the vinyl for PF. You must have been bummed to have slept through it. Or was still satisfying? You said it was great so I'm assuming you did. Be well, be safe, be happy!
Dave, I saw the Wish You Were Here concert in 75, and Animals concert at Miami Baseball stadium 77. 81 Orange Bowl. 94 Joe Robbie Stadium.
@@jeffeldredge1608 You are fortunate and have great taste. I saw a total of 5 times. First time was 72 at the D.U. arena at the University of Denver. PINK FLOYD WILL NEVER DIE!!!!!!!!!!
Kewell, but remember LSD is what turned Syd Barrett into an institutionalized, drooling, jelly-head, that can't string a simple coherent sentence together. I'm not saying never do it, just don't over-do it, as each time that you do do it, you burn up several thousand brain cells and neurons that you can't replace. Happy trails,...trip.

One of Pink Floyd’s greatest albums.
The Syd Barrett Memorial Album. Not dead yet (at that time) nor forgotten.
The Father of Pink Floyd 💗
Not dead yet, true. But they grieved him all the same because his spark was dead.
Late 70's in Phoenix, Arizona. No body lead off for them. Just Pink Floyd, with huge speakers on the sides, and end to end of the colliseum. 3+ hours of straight playing, round screen, floating pig, three albums concentrated into 1 of the best concerts I've ever been to to this day. I tried to get tickets to L.A. tour of, "The Wall." They sold out so fast, I didn't get to see it. However Dark Side, Animals and Wish You Were Here combined?! At least I got to see them once in their hey day, and it was the concert of concerts in my book. What a stage show. What a performance unforgettable!
You are a lucky person to have such great memories of a music event by one of the greatest rock bands in history. That will likely never happen again. Funny thing, this particular album reminds me of girlfriends in past lives. Not in any bad way; fond memories.
just unbelievable i can only imagine the feeling in the air must have been otherworldly. i live in phoenix and am 27 years old. i hope to at least catch roger or david once before its to late thanks for sharing your experience much love my man
Well described.
I saw them in 75 at the LA Sports Arena. First concert they ever arrested people for smoking pot. The narcs in yellow vests were everywhere inside the stadium. We were passing joints down low. My parents were watching the news at home trying to see if I had been arrested. I was 15 :D
I was at that concert, absolutely amazing, started with dark side of the moon, that big round screen and a plane flying over the audience and crashing on the side of the stage, nonstop amazement!

What I love about this band and you don't see it with any other. While bands throw songs on an album to make it complete to sell, Pink Floyd's albums were an experience and had a story to tell. It was whole and it was beautifully laid out to guide you as you wander through another dimension
Headphones a reefer and a dark room with this music what a trip Man!!!!
First time I heard the opening track was holiday in Spain, disco on the beach and they opened with it every night, I listened to it in the sea on a li-lo a few hundred yards out from the beach... it's the ultimate surround-sound, with the music bouncing off the waves and coming at you from all directions. Impossible to describe really, you just have to do it, and if you do I swear you will never want to listen to it any other way.
Nice story, thanks 😊

I was eleven when this album came out and I still love it as if I've heard it for the first time it's one of my favorites exclamation exclamation
My brother listened and listened, in my childhood, I listened to vinyl records in front of the player...good times!😎
I hadnt listened to this album in probably 20 years. I listened to it again 3 weeks ago and I have listened to it every day since. Is it better than Dark Side? Is it better than Animals? The 70s were kind to PF and PF were kind to us. 45 minutes of pure greatness.
My rankings - 1. Dark Side 2. Wish You 3. Animals 4. The Wall (The original tour I saw them in NY)
Interestingly, that is the order in which they were released. When you make the greatest rock album of all time (Dark Side) it is hard to match that high bar. But the next three albums did a heckuva job trying.
I have the originals on vinyl the wall and dark side of the moon I've passed them to my son,x
I dom't know if its better than Animals as that album was pretty damn mighty in its own right. Wish You Were Here is a trrific album, yes. That much is for damn sure.

I always miss Beth. She was my first love. I ruined everything by not really knowing myself. I spent years of my life growing up learning how to be a bad person. They changed me when I lost their love. After that I began to really feel it and know I was hurt. Only after a few years of going through terrible depression and wanting to end things did I really get to a point where I could talk about what happened to me with a therapist. Since then I've spent more years re-discovering myself and who I really am. I realized that I was never actually happy until I was doing something in my life that I was happy with and enjoying for myself. The only thing that hurts in getting better over the years is that I wish so badly that they could know me now. I don't really have it in me to fully go back. I lost the love of my life, but they'll never really understand that. I wish they were here. Even so, I still told them I care about them deeply and am a better person today because of them. I can be happy knowing that I am able to even do that.
Much love to all of you folks.
Much love back to you as well. I relate. Well said & shared, highly valuable. Thank you.
