Cheaper energy doesn’t just mean oil and gas… it means electricity too. That will still give EVs an edge on cost per mile. Tesla semis suddenly look better, and with inductive charging even better still. Yes, that’s only theoretical but clearly Tesla is pushing hard for it and they tend to achieve what they push hard for. Eventually. In some form.
Yes. Electricity is so expensive here in the NorthEast: 23¢/kWh compared to other parts of the country. If lower regulation leads to more nuclear, or cheaper natural gas and thus to cheaper electricity, an electric car makes more sense.
Why stop there? Why are U.S tax payers subsidizing your mortgage interest, student loan interest, medical bills, children credits, private jets etc. or is just EV’s your suddenly upset about?
@JDMSwervo2001 not get rid of it just stop subsidizing it by giving billions away if you think ev subsidizing was high lmao its nothing compared to oil and gas you word need a microscope to see the ev subsidizing if they were side by side so just drop both and let the best and cheapest tech win

Tesla cars began losing the EV tax credit at the end of 2018. Tesla was still losing money on their cars in 2018 and 2019, and only became profitable in 2020, without the EV tax credit. Tesla remained profitable in 2021 and 2022 without the EV tax credit and throughout 2023, the year in which Tesla's EV tax credit/rebate were restored under the IRA. Many of us may have forgotten, but Tesla remembers.
I trust Elon will ensure Tesla will be ok in the long term whatever outcome it might be credit or no credit. Short term could face problems especially from a potential recession coming in a couple quarters as a delayed side effect from the policies of the current admin but long term should be fine.
Umm no not at all. The $7500 credit made Tesla comparable to similar ICE cars. If you can get a $7500 credit on ICE cars that makes the math that much more against EVS.
To me bottom line, Aptera is the only vehicle that makes sense for me, a.k.a. myself my wife and my dog. The 400 mile range is far more than I need other than once every year or so. The market should decide. But then I get the idea that it spurs on development and indeed EV’s are the future. But at this point, I think it’s about time to end it and let the market work. The US is running something like a 1.5 Trillion dollar deficit with something like 35T$ of debt. Is a tax incentive allowing the well off to buy luxury cars really something the government should be borrowing money to support?
Well the U.S. already offers credits and deductions for 1000 other things so what’s the difference? Why should tax payers pay for your mortgage interest, student loan interest, private jet, medical bills etc.
