  • Ok, so i've officially run out of things to plasti-dip on my car and i still have some left over, my laptop was looking a little worn out so I decided to plasti-dip it. It came out really good, i peeled out the apple symbol as it lights up.

    I did this last year to test out PD and how it holds up. It's a great product. I have done other projects and colors. It's cool to see others seeing the plus's about using PD and it's other uses then just protecting tools(which is what originally intended for).

    that was a bold move going for the apple logo. i did this same thing with one of the big macbook pros and i thought, if i mess this logo up i'm gonna have to re-do the whole thing. so i left it as-is and it looks kinda cool that way too when it lights up behind the black :)

      there's really not THAT much to worry about if you mask it properly...if you've never actually used plasti-dip tho i totally get why it seems terrifying ;) the stuff peels off of everything you spray it onto pretty much.

    I can't figure out how people are able to peel so easily around the edges. I sprayed my HP which has a little metal emblem on it and when I tried to peel around the corners it just tore outside of the edges

    Hey man i need some help. so me and my girlfriend attempted to plastidip my HP laptop matte black and it came out bad. We did it in my garage with the door open since we don't have face masks. We also did like 4 coats of it with about 10-13 minutes in between each coat. We made all the coats heavy and wanted to cover it all on every coat. We probably should have done the first coats light and then the next coats heavy? i don't know. And since my garage was open, small pieces of grass and dust got on it while it was drying and made the finish awful. We want to peel it off and try it again with the matte black and then do it in blaze orange or green in the future. Any help or suggestions on what to do to make it look better? and how many coats did you do?

    • @thisismarkrogers
      @thisismarkrogers  9 лет назад +6

      Hey thanks for commenting, definitely do more coats but keep them light, my first coat is usually very light, take your time and keep to light coating on all layers. it takes longer but the finish is better and you will be happier with the end result. Please use a face mask though as it really is not good for you to breath this stuff in. and pick a day with almost no breeze if possible, I always paint with the garage door open if in there because the fumes can get very strong, again not good for you at all. I prefer to do all my painting outside because of this. I can use between 8-10 light coats to get the finish i want.

    can i ask you, im a painter by trade, how durable is this plasti-dip. Because i have a 17" macbook pro that is a great computer and its looking a little tired, so this might be a good option to make it look new again. How long will it last if you clear coat it?

    • @thisismarkrogers
      @thisismarkrogers  9 лет назад

      It's very durable, I have other videos on here where I have used it on alloy wheels. Holds up really well in all weather conditions so using it on a computer will spruce it up nicely.

    • @wyattvana8
      @wyattvana8 9 лет назад

      If youre going to clear coat it then use the plasti dip brand glossifier bc the plasti dip coated with regular clear coat will make it more brittle still should mess it up but thats what i recommend

    Is the surface sticky/rubbery, or is it smooth and matte like?

    • @AIRSOFTMMASKATEBEAST
      @AIRSOFTMMASKATEBEAST 8 лет назад +1

      With PlastDip it depends on how you apply it. If you apply it in very thick coats it will become rubbery but if you apply light coats it gets more of a matte finish. It is almost never sticky if you let it dry completely.

    • @basedhumanofficial
      @basedhumanofficial 4 года назад

      you can get the surface on the macbook to be pretty smooth, not sticky at all. it ends up feeling really protected without a bulky case.

      It's a spray handle, it attaches to the spray can to make it easier. When I purchase the cans they came with it. You can get them easily on eBay too.
