The most bone chilling part in this to me is at 6:22 where the three chords that play over the sustained trumpet note are pain, then sorrow, and finally wrath. Then the calm chaos afterwards is what’s left after wrath has struck. Absolutely stunning
playing this right now in my high school’s wind ensemble, we had the utmost pleasure of having viet work with us. such a nice and knowledgeable guy, i love this piece so much. it’s so much fun whilst quite challenging!
I hope our ensemble lets us choose what we play so I can have an excuse to suggest this 😂 I mean this song got me imagining whole scenarios for different parts of it. That's how good it is!
Just got to play this with a huge, intercollegiate band at the CBDNA conference at UNR. Not only is it a truly amazing piece to hear and play, but it's a beacon of hope for contemporary band music when so much of it is overly new age and hard to listen to. Keep writing for band, Mr. Cuong.
Very excited to play this piece with the North Texas Wind Symphony on our next concert! Just started rehearsing the trumpet part today. Gonna be awesome.

Mr. Viet Cuong, this piece is stunningly beautiful. What a composition!
Caught the last bit on a local radio channel and first thing I did when I got home was look it up, blown away by the feel of the piece, thank you.
I remember playing this with the St. Charles East high school wind ensemble. amazing!
