  • My Scagg lawnmower was having a very ruff idle and getting worse. I purchased a new carburetor and replaced it. I had to do a couple small modifications to get it to fit. When I was done it ran great with no further adjustments.
The carburetor is listed on Amazon as
ALL-CARB Carburetor 15004-7060 15003-7100 Replace for Kawasaki FH580V 19Hp Engine Exmark Replacement for John Deere 235 Mower
for other maintenance I have done on this lawnmower check out the rest of my channel

I watched your video specifically to see how you'd deal with the lever and the little tubing on the carburator , now I know if you did it, I can do it too. Thanks a lot

There is a tiny hole on top of the carb that normally has a cap on it. the cap comes off and it begins to rough idle. Easy fix by placing your finger over the hole.

Thanks for the tip I will have to look at the old carb for the hole

When removing the carb ,the best thing to do is to remove the 2 long bolts by double nutting the stud , you can use the 2 nuts you just remove , change the nuts to get the other stud out ,

If using an aftermarket from China or a OEM Mikuni carb ALWAYS remove the fuel bowl & clean it out good. Also where the jet screws in. Most of the time there is metal shavings in there that will kill your engine. QC is awful!

Hey so I I’ve cleaned my carburetor. Blown out my fuel line. Replaced my gaskets. Changed my spark plug. Changed my oil and she still sputters and cuts out when the choke is pushed in. I’ll change the fuel pump today but I just wanna know if you have any suggestions. Changed my air filter also.

If it is sputtering and staightens out when the choke is pulled part way out then it is starving for gas. I would make sure your fuel filter is new and form there then there is probably trash in one of the jets in your carborator. I find it easier to replace the carberator than to try to rebuild it. If you include time to rebuild it with parts it is also cheaper to just replace it.

@@DougLearn Yeah. I'm fooling with my Kawasaki fh451v-as09 that's in my SCAG. $250 new for the OEM carb. There's a couple of chinese imports for $40-$80. My carb pulls off the bolts and rotates to release the throttle linkages (someone did a video). Still DXing things. Pull starts are great till they're not. New filter & cleaned out bowl of a bit of dirt, got the float filling the bowl and ran half hour. Back to not starting. It's out in the grass, going to pull it back to where I can work on it some more. News at 11!

@@Shalmaneser1 Just wondering does it start back up after it has cooled off? I used the cheap knock off carb and it has been working as good as OEM so far this year.

@@DougLearn The Chinese stuff is a lottery. Need to check return policies. It really acts like it's clogged again. After sitting it will fire once and nothing. It's sitting on a side hill, not conducive to gas flow. I only mow two three times a year. Can't take it apart where it sits. Time for the 4x4.
