Introducing BOXBAY - a new and intelligent High Bay Storage system

We've launched our new international joint venture with SMS Group will change the way containers are handled in ports. “BOXBAY” represents a new and intelligent High Bay Storage (HBS) system that will be ready in time for the Dubai Expo 2020 with a pilot project scheduled at Jebel Ali Terminal 4.

Very great innovation. This is the game changer for congested ports with limited yard space.

The system allows, from what it seems, greater flexibility, the containers can be placed anywhere and picked up without having to wait for those above to be removed, and the same for loading. Greater transport speed and large capacity for self-feeding electrically.
Just a nice project! Is there already a working system with this system? Where is it?

so from this simulation I can see one rail mounted gantry handling 100 worth on containers and the gantry could go up about 12 storeys. I think if they lenghten it so that one gantry could handle between 150 and 200 containers it could be interesting. Then again gantry shuttle time would be serious factor. Also with such a vertical RMG counter weight would be serious factor to deal with.
