I'm in college right now. Things are rough. It's not just the schoolwork, but the emotional impact of leaving your old life and friends for good. It feels lonesome. But hearing these nostalgic tunes remind me of the good days of the 90's. It just brings me back to playing the N64 with buddies and trading Pokemon cards at school. These beautiful feelings take the pain away. I'm happy that Nintendo was a part of my childhood. No matter how old I get, I'll never forget the good old days.
I sometimes feel the same. I didn't grow up in the 90's but I left my primary school in 2019 due to the bad teachers not being able to cope with me. I didn't get a day to say goodbye and some friends I had there I have never seen again. Since COVID I haven't seen any of them at all. I was homeschooled for 2 years and then went to secondary school where I lost most social skills but made new friends. I'm happy where I am but those childhood friends will never be seen again and all I have is memories. I feel you
Maybe we will get a remake of this game. But we have to wait for over 150 years. Because we're at mk8. It takes Nintendo 3 years to create a mario kart (Mkds 2005, mkwii 2008, mk7 2011, mk8 2014) So we have to wait for 3X56 years = 168 years for the 64th mario kart, which will be a remake of Mario Kart 64
Nintendo realizes. Releases Mario Kart: Double Dash and Mario Kart DS 2 years apart to stop such theories. ( 2003 and 2005.) Nintendo fans don't care. xD, hahah.
I LOVE THIS SONG!! So much memories flooding in of me and my sisters playing Mario Kart 64 together. We had so much fun! This song just hits the soft spot for me. :,)
So many feels... So much happiness... It's like all things good and wonderful in the world were compressed and made into a single video-game background music soundtrack.
In the classic game, I remember falling off of Rainbow Road from certain points had you falling for like 7 seconds straight before bringing you back. Just falling into the black abyss, staring at nothing but stars and the void while this extremely happy music plays. As a result, I dub this masterpiece of videogame music as my Disassociation Song.
One of my favorite Mario songs. When I played this as a kid, this was the course I always did my best. Something about the music just gave me a sense of destiny, and my focus doubled. Most of the time I won, even when I wasn't the best player. ;)
You don’t need a Time Machine or anything; nostalgia is a form of that travel. No matter where you are, you hear a song, an image, then pow! You’re in the days before having to rise and live in this world. Take the nostalgia with you and keep living.
I used to play this game with my dad every new years and we always finished off with this track in the special cup. Now he moved and I barely see him anymore but I still keep listening to this song every once in a while to remember playing with him. We always fought over the heavyweights like DK and Bowser and I remember always getting ran over at the start
Brings me memories. I used to have a Playstation but I had these neighboors that had an N64. So I kind of had best of both worlds haha. They had pretty much every good N64 out there so I got to play everything. My best memories with them was playing Smash Bros and Mario Party. I'm in college right now. Its very stressful because of the emotional impact of leaving your highschool friends for good since we're all scattered into different colleges now. Hearing these songs helps me get through it
Man, this game was one of my starter racing games, and this was my favorite piece of music along with the end credits ❤️ Nowadays, it always makes me think of my Dad. He was not a great player, but once, just once, he managed to beat my mom, my bro and me on this track - what a victory! He passed away a few years ago, and when I hear this music now, I always imagine him doing a victory lap in one of his most triumphant gaming moments 🥲 Miss you, Dad! 💔And I miss these days of old...
I remember when it was the first time i played mario kart 64. When i got to rainbow road and heard this song. It made me cry tears of joy, and now i played mario kart 64 again so i can hear this song again. I just played mario kart 8 deluxe and heard this song again and i was happy, and the fact this was my favorite track 4 years straight
This is my favorite road of the game, everytime i play it i feel so nostalgic, no worries, no anxiety or depression back then, just playing this with my Dad and Brother
Me and bro Luigi had many fantastic drives on this course. I remember when I would pull way ahead of the competition and just drive calmly, avoiding a stray chomp chomp or two, and listen to this amazing song
I was getting robbed the other day. Four large, masked men broke into my home at about 3 in the morning. As a defense mechanism, this song began to play and we danced to the tune until police arrived. Thanks Mario Kart.
I don't know why but this song promoves that feeling that when you die you actually gonna be running across a rainbow road and everyone that you've met in life and is important to you is sending you the goodbyes.
Still have my N64 and hope that it will continue to last long enough for me to give to my children so that they can enjoy the nostalgia that I felt many years ago.
You know the soundtrack’s good when it turns the youtube comments into group therapy for over a decade

The most memorable piece of music in Mario Kart History.
I had awesome childhood. Nothing to complain about.
So many memories. Thank you, Nintendo.
Lol
Nintendo realizes. Releases Mario Kart: Double Dash and Mario Kart DS 2 years apart to stop such theories. ( 2003 and 2005.) Nintendo fans don't care. xD, hahah.
Nice theory, bro.
7 years later and we’re still on 8
The 90's had the best everything , music , games , etc. 90's rock!!
I always get nostalgic when i hear this! the good ol' 90's!
Every time I hear any version of Rainbow Road, all I think is all the magic of Christmas 🎄 🎉
best Mario Kart theme of all time in my opinion.
This level was a reward, not a final test.
Nostalgia overload
This song is so iconic
This is one of the best Mario kart tracks and songs in GENERAL
CHANGE MY MIND
In the classic game, I remember falling off of Rainbow Road from certain points had you falling for like 7 seconds straight before bringing you back.
Just falling into the black abyss, staring at nothing but stars and the void while this extremely happy music plays.
As a result, I dub this masterpiece of videogame music as my Disassociation Song.
Hearing n64 music makes me happy, but months ago my Nintendo 64 in around 23 now it’s taking its long well deserved nap
Meaning it won’t turn on now
One of the first videos I watched a decade ago, still exists to this day.
Will the real gamers from the n64 era please stand up?
I'm not from the n64 era, but I support this game, so I'll stand up!
Same
I’m also not for the N64 era but I’m from the PS3 era but I also grew up with a N64
*stands up*
Had this game on the wii. But loved it anyway.
The worst item you can get on this track is a star
Because it cuts off this masterpiece
This will play in the Mario movie
Almost everyone hate this race, I love this because of the neon lights of mario characters !
This track makes you feel like you're taking a LSD trip.
+Retro Gaming Guitarist on other videos they hate it because it's long
This song makes me cry :)
This brings me back. I was 4 when the game came out. Me, my big brother and cousins played this game A LOT. It was so much fun. I miss the old days. 😢
I’m hoping that this will be in the new Mario movie when they’re on the rainbow road track. This is so beautiful and iconic and my childhood 😭
I agree even though I weren't around in the N64 days this song is great
I used to play this game with my dad every new years and we always finished off with this track in the special cup. Now he moved and I barely see him anymore but I still keep listening to this song every once in a while to remember playing with him. We always fought over the heavyweights like DK and Bowser and I remember always getting ran over at the start
Whenever I listen to this, I can still see my seven-year old self playing this at my old self. This tune never gets old. The 90s ruled, Nuff said.
Yeah
Brings me memories. I used to have a Playstation but I had these neighboors that had an N64. So I kind of had best of both worlds haha. They had pretty much every good N64 out there so I got to play everything. My best memories with them was playing Smash Bros and Mario Party.
I'm in college right now. Its very stressful because of the emotional impact of leaving your highschool friends for good since we're all scattered into different colleges now. Hearing these songs helps me get through it
One of the best songs nintendo ever made
I'm 26 and I remember playing this with my mom. She still play with me sometimes on the 64...
I did to sometimes
is it weird to cry when you hear this? asking for a friend.
+Syrio Forel Not at all. Heck i didn't even grow up with this game and i can feel the damn nostalgia!
no
I cry too. ;)
No. I've always cried when I hear it. No idea why.
Man, this game was one of my starter racing games, and this was my favorite piece of music along with the end credits ❤️
Nowadays, it always makes me think of my Dad.
What a great father you had 🥲
When I go to heaven, this is what’s going to be playing.
There is just something about this track.....
Simply awesome.
This is my favorite road of the game, everytime i play it i feel so nostalgic, no worries, no anxiety or depression back then, just playing this with my Dad and Brother
This rainbow road is the best of the Mario kart games
This song was my childhood
Nostalgic peaceful vibes and failing so hard to nail that shortcut landing lol 😅
Me and bro Luigi had many fantastic drives on this course. I remember when I would pull way ahead of the competition and just drive calmly, avoiding a stray chomp chomp or two, and listen to this amazing song
"Welcome To Mario Kart..."
"Select the Level."
"Ok"
"Select your player"
"Select match."
I was getting robbed the other day. Four large, masked men broke into my home at about 3 in the morning. As a defense mechanism, this song began to play and we danced to the tune until police arrived. Thanks Mario Kart.
Not sure how that helped. But smart.
@@sleepyyfx I'm sure he was just kidding :)
Such a touching story
Heartbreaking.
That's wild...
Only Mario Kart can identify what a ⭐ sounds like.. Pure gold
Masterpiece foverer! My favorite Rainbow Road from the entire franchise. Rainbow Road best soundtrack! ❤❤
LOVE IT !!! Thats a part of my childhood !!
I don't know why but this song promoves that feeling that when you die you actually gonna be running across a rainbow road and everyone that you've met in life and is important to you is sending you the goodbyes.
You are totally right. Almost everyone had a great childhood, and it is something that can't be forgotten.
Rainbow Road is my favourite race course of all time
Nathan Craib Same! And it was so cool to play. The new rainbow roads are annoying, full of useless paths and everyone keeps falling XD
MsJoeyJody I dont know how you felt about this course, for it was damn' hard most of the time i went of the track
Still have my N64 and hope that it will continue to last long enough for me to give to my children so that they can enjoy the nostalgia that I felt many years ago.
there no moving parts in an n64 so it should last many years. at least 100 years or so.
davidevgen Yeah, only thing I gotta worry about honestly is the dust I think.
Sam C
yeah. just keep it in a box or plasic. dust doent hurt any thing as long as its not in a hevily humid enviroment
Is your n64 still fine?
@@NickMario1 Still is!
for all the people who say video game music isn't real music: *think again*
Mario kart 64 was so awesome, and this song made it even more awesome
Brings tears to my eyes... :'D ahhh ! Nostalgia....
MsJoeyJody +1 :')
The track wasn't that good, but this beauty is what made it so awesome.
This Game reminds me of me and my best Friend. Summer 1997 we played this Game every day..Fuck i miss him so much
+Silent Bob Should I ask what happened to him/her?
It's 4 minutes of nostalgia and I LOVE IT
