The statue should come with a code for the skin! That would be a much better way to resolve the expensive cost problem. I know Riot is just utilizing the attention they get from China and Korea, but it still sucks for everyone else that they'd charge so much for a skin.

Nah it's worse then quite a few gachas because pity, but because many gacha characters for the more successful gachas they sell you a character off of new features or power creep, but this ahri skin is just cosmics which is much less then a new character released in a popular gacha this year. Even riot awful and dumb gacha mythic chroma skins in capsules were less then this if you fail every possibly time.

People keep forgetting that China has 1.4 billion people. Put it into a bell curve on income and the top 10% is 140 million people.
Basically everybody knew it'd end after 2 weeks. People just don't care enough about things in large enough numbers to get things like this to move along. Even Riot knew this and extended the event to try and keep interest alive.

I do not want to be that guy but the only way to boycott a game is by literally not playing it. The whole not picking a champion and expecting to actually change something by doing it is wierd because it would take basically years to actually affect something. At the end of the day its just a game and not consuming it is probably the most damage you can do to it

Lmfao how does this skin affect your experience with the game. Nothing changes, it's cosmetic. People will only start caring when the game becomes pay to win.
Not only that but anyone who didnt know about the skin or faker now does - this event is what got my partner talking about league again to the point i asked to play it with them for another game we can play together. All it did was bring in a player.
My whole problem with this skin line is not only how the quality of this skin is nothing new but the visual polution it brings when other skins "got nerfed" because of said "visual polution" and here's some examples.
Morgana's old Ghost bride skin had tiny spirits hovering around her dress on idle animations from time to time and the dress itself was more of a ghost instead of just old dress.
Blackthorn Morgana's walking animation AND skills left a trail of leaves.
Almost every Brand skin got visual nerfs on skill shots.
Some Lee Sin Skins got visual nerfs for no reason at all.
Some skins lost unique recalls some for no reason and other after rework like the most recent Guardian of the sands Skarner.
This shit is going on for a while, we are receiving worse skins with less features priced at higher tiers.
Remember Samira, a glorified epic priced as ultimate? (Yes, she hasn't even have unique animations, she is a epic with bunch of other legendaries' features)

I think it has been shown that it is not mostly wealthy people who whale on stuff like this but other poor people who have poor decision making. Basically it is ordinary people who spend thousands of dollars on items like this. In fact this is small potatoes compared to gacha games where people can spend hundreds of thousands of dollars and destroy their future doing so. I personally am fine with it since stupid people are parting with their money but the only thing I am worried about is that tax dollars will be spent supporting these fools after they ruin their lives.

That being said, Riot IS spending money on Arcane and LoR. The former, during season 1, from what is told to us and what is estimated, cost up to 100 million to produce while the latter, according to Riot, isn't exactly a profitable game.
Riot has to make money from somewhere to fund some of these things and the Ahri skin is without a doubt, one of them.
It took me 5-6 days to get to level 100 of the battle pass, riot also kind of fucked people on that end too, because everyone thought "OMG 100 levels! that's gonna be a grind! Maybe its better that I buy those 100 free levels as well". When in fact riot actually gives you super easy missions to complete which literally rewards you 8-10 free levels per mission completed. This was the easiest battle pass to complete of all the battle passes so far.
That “single region” is more than ten times larger than the rest of the entire regions combined, by the way.
All the Ahri boycotts in the West stood no chance when Chinese and Korean gamers bought that package by the millions.
Realistically (and obviously) the ban rate “boycott” of Ahri wasn’t going to do much other than not let anyone see the skin in action. But people can still just buy the skin whether it was the $50 or $500. The data to show how much money is made is the important thing to boycott

Ye.. I just switched back to learn midlane and Ahri and was just annoyed that most of the time she was banned. I don’t own or was thinking about buying her new skins. It’s almost a year worth of tuition fees for my university and just thinking about it makes me mad that they charge such an expensive price for a digital skin

TBH I saw very few Ahri bans and not a single Immortalized Legend Ahri in my games. I saw a few Risen Legend ones on Arena just after release, but that's it. I saw a few Leblancs here and there, probably folks who bought the normal pass

Boycotts in games never work because the players can't never join together as one and stop spending money. There are always people who don't care or have too much money and will keep spending while some stop spending completely, but since people still spend, companies don't care, they are still making money.

It kind of sucks that this is going to continue to happen because of how insanely successful it is for Riot to price things like this. The Chromas and this skin is just a stepping stone. It's just a skin, yeah, but knowing there's gonna be basically just legendary or ultimate skins priced at $100+ from here on for champions is a bit frustrating in a way.

These kinds of boycotts don't work. The only way to really hurt Riot and send a message is if everyone stops playing the game. But that would require a backbone. If you really want to boycott something-and this is transferable to many other things-don't buy or play it. Stop spending money and time on the game. This should have been a real boycott, but all in all, it was half-baked and predictable

Why isn’t anyone talking about this? Faker used the skin for a video and very honestly reviewed it but did compliment it a lot, that was it for people who wanted it but were hesitant to take the next step and purchase it.

There's no ethics involve here.Its a simple case of a company setting a price for an item. A Company is free to put whatever price they want its the consumer to decide how much is too much. This was always how it was going to end. The West can be mad all they want about the pricing but League as a game never really cared much for the the West opinion when it regards profitability since League don’t make the most profit from the West.
Over in the East where gacha games is such a common thing, things like the Ahri skin, while expensive, will always have an audience.

I'm glad you tied everything together at the end that this isn't impacting gameplay - I think that's the main takeaway. Yes, the pricing is predatory, but unless legislative action happens, they'll continue to charge w/e they want. Maybe EU will force their hands somehow (similar to how they did Apple's)? Who knows. I'm just glad the game's free still.
11:12 I do 100% agree with that , but I also feel like there's way better ways of selling cool stuff to people without them having to take loans. Take for example the trails you get with the pride month icons. They could sell those in many different styles and people would love that! Or how about animated emotes and icons? Have more options for borders in the store? I think they should go for stuff like that instead of overpricing a tribute to League's greatest player.
I still think HUD- and Mapskins could be nice... or I'd like them to make chromas more expensive but slightly alter the color of vfx and they could do custom announcers too like having Nasus or Zoe as announcer

The reason Riot extended the sale is probably because Swarm comes out next patch, and a ton of lapsed and even new players are considering playing League again to try Swarm out. I wouldn't be surprised if the average playerbase that patch is like 5x or 10x what it normally is, and all those lapsed players might consider the skin while they're in League anyways.

If I have a regular pillow I bought from Walmart for 5 dollars and there's people who wanna buy it for 600 dollars... yeah I'm gonna sell that pillow for 600 dollars.
It's just like with ThePokemonCompany. Yeah they could make a super high quality game that's perfect and incredibly well made, but if people are gonna buy a buggy, rushed out pile of mud, and they can still make millions and millions off that pile of mud can I really blame them for selling a pile of mud?
In the same way, if there are going to be people willing to go into debt for a skin, why shouldn't Riot sell it? 500? 1,000? 2,000? If people are gonna buy it, they have a right to sell it.

Just because someone *can* do something doesn't mean they *should*. A company should be thinking about the wellbeing and happiness of it's customers alongside it's profit. Unless it is going under there is no excuse to milk the fans in such a way.

With lux, you try to destroy her in lane, she either stuns you then drops her pool then runs to tower. Most bs concept champions in the game.

I just got affrimed that league players are low mental crybabys the last weeks. I always banned her and continued to do so but everyday more crying people came up and said "it doesnt change anything anyways" or "idk i just wanna play ahri". LoL Community (most of it) is just a bunch of low mental none believers it as everyone anyways always thought

some very lucky player gets it in a loot chest without ever paying for a skin. I've gotten 2 skins of the special fragments that have you collect 100 of in a loot chest. the chogath one and kogma one :)
At the end of the day, it's a skin. It has no effect on the gameplay. If you don't like it, don't buy it. If you need skins to enjoy a game, you have other issues and I'd just recommend spending time at the mall at that point.
I'm just over here disappointed that I was not able to pick up the Signature bundle. Mostly because Its randomly showed up. But I was curious about what you got with it and about and for 430 you get 535 worth of stuff back with signature so, eh?
