I appreciate your help. It's clear to me now that I don't need to turn up the gain in my interface if I'm already getting a balanced signal from the mixer. Good explanation, thanks
Thank you for your production. It was well done. Very easy to follow. Dependable results. It really helped that you were so clear with the "how and where" to connect without visual blockages such as your hands and fingers. As silly as it may sound, it makes a huge difference especially to a non tech guy like myself. Because of your guidance, I was able to connect my pre-amp to mixer with ease. Keep up the great work. Looking forward to reviewing other productions. Subscribed.
Thank you! Every video on the internet should be this clear and concise!
I am Grateful because I already had this equipment but didn't know I could connect them for a home.
I was told I could at a music store but received instructions from you.
Thank You
Thank you very much for this clear set up and explanation on connecting with interface. Out of many other content out there your content help me the most.
The key word was if you want to keep things SUPER SIMPLE..Which gave me options Thank you so much.I have 2 focusrite and I had so many complications with it recognizing the mic. Did the whole ear trumpet, bannana, potato software.I was ready to cry brah. But I had a Yamaha mixer to the rescue..pop in the USB.went to preferences.imported a music track to ACID 10(remember ACID):) Armed a second track for Audio vocal rec.Opened my WAVES bundle an had a good ol time recording my 10 track Album.Thank you so much.🎵🎧🎙Why I enjoy your videos is 1. informative..2.The art of simplification,an 3. since you know your stuff..you give the students OPTIONS!!..Keep up the great vids NYC rocking with you.
Harlem Girls NYC.
Thanks for showing this Interface recording demo.
Valuable ❤
This helped me a bunch , thanks so much for posting !
So well explained! I have just bought the MG06 for live streaming. Liked and subscribed 🙂
Glad it helped!
@@kettnercreative cau you use that mixer on a powered speaker
Thanks for your infomative learning about MG10XU YAMAHA, now i know how to set the Mixer to Interface for my recording Studio👍👍😊
Happy to help!
Really clear and efficient explanation that cleared up several points in one relatively short video. Thanks!
Excellent explanation and yours is the first video i have ever seem that any English video channel explained perfectly without wasting time in talking a lot rather than showing the actual video practically.
Thank you👍
Thank Thank you so much... you have pretty much help me out from the standpoint of connecting my Allen & Zed 10 FX to my FOCUSRITE solo 3 rd. Gen...I’ve searched and search for someone to help me with and all RUclips people can instruct as if I know... it’s hard to give lessons were people understand is limited... you weren’t very detail oriented which was very good. I will be with you... My DAW is Logic Pro x... I need help here too... I am singer and writer....
Thank you so much, this answered my question. I just added an audio mixer to my set up as I have 5 guests coming on my show and I was wondering how do I record all of them at once without having to swap the mic between individuals.
Thanks a lot. This helped me achieve the setup for my church. Just subscribed🙌🏻
thank you for your sharing~ really useful!!! love it!
Glad it was helpful
It’s not even funny how helpful your videos have been got some much done thanks to these 🙏🏾
Glad to hear it
Thanks for that excellent review!
Great video. Do you have a video setting up mixer into a second mixer? I would love to see that video.
Thank you for your time. Have a wonderful day and keep up the awesome work!
Love the videos
Thanks so much for the clear instructions! I want to do videos with vocals & guitar into my yamaha mixer, into my scarlett 212 . I can record video with my windows laptop camera, but is there a better video recording program I can put on my laptop? Thanks again!
Amazing!!! This video helped me to get sounds from my MackieMix12Fx to my PresonusUSB96. Thank you so much!
Very useful video really tons of thanks 😊
Great tutorial video Jordan. Question: after connecting my Yamaha MG/12-4FX analog mixer to my Steinberg UR22MKII interface they way you explained, how do I now connect my two small JBL powered monitors?
Very informative and well done! Wonder if you could provide advice for this issue? I want to connect the output of an analog mixer (QSC Touchmix 8 running iPad with backing tracks) to a usb B input of my Fractal Audio FM3, which is a guitar amp modeler and is also an interface. Thanks in advance for any helpful info.
Great video. Helped a lot
thank you for this explanation 🎶
great info for me, good clear advice
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you very much. Your explanation is very clear
You are welcome!
Wow best way of explaining it's easy thank you I will try it
Excelente video muy claro y preciso gracias amigo por compartir.❤❤
Hi, thanks for the lecture. How can I connect tascam us 1800 to a 32 channel mg Yamaha mixer to get individual channel in my DAW
hi! I ALWAYS check your videos, i was wondering how can i Connect the Yamaha mg10 to my MacBook and make it work with garaje band?
It worked for me! 👍🏾Thanks👊🏾
Excellent!
well and clearly explained only what should you do if your audio interface only has a mic/line 1 input and inst 2 (for instruments) e.g. the u-phoria umc 22 then it is not possible to do left and right when i use a orchestra wants to record with all their equipment at the mixer (without usb) with audio interface is there a solution for that?
Cool thanx for the Tips!
You can also open two audio project and set the 1st one to input 1 and the second one to input 2, now you have two different individual track
Thank you very much for the video, it is great!! ! Question ; Will the sound quality be better if the Mixer output to the Audio interface input is connected with 2 x 1/4" TRS cables? Does it make any difference if is line level? Appreciate your help.
Is correct to use EQ, Reverb, wet, dry, phantom, etc in my mixer to help the sound of my band recordings? thanx for the video...the best
Hey how’s it going I watched your video good info my question is with that interface would I be able to control the sound our church uses switcher studio program
Hi, Thanks for sharing your knowledge! Can this connection works with a xlr out to 1/4 balanced in, from the mixer to audio interface, or maybe another mixer?
It should
Thank you 😍🤗
Is it okay to use a 1/4" TRS when connecting the Audio interface to the mixer & use an XLR cable to connect to my mic? Or should the wiring be consistent with the mic to the mixer & mixer to the audio interface?
I imagine you would do this bc you want to use the effects engine on your mixer to alter your vocals, instrument, etc. Otherwise just plug mic/instrument straight into the audio interface, right?
Are there other tricks to do using the mixer & audio interface together?
Nice demonstration!! Can you help in showing how to connect DDJ-400 to Yamaha MG06X mixer and Denon receiver? (Home theather)
Hi Kettner
How do we give effects through this solution? I have studio master club XS8+ mixer and Focusrute audio interface. I connected both as you advised but I am not getting effects.
Question: 1. how to set effects for ZOom meeting
2. Can I ya the usb drive socket provided on the mixer to convey with usb port of my laptop?
Learn a lot one questions how about if your mic is condenser where I should turn on the phantom power in the mixer or in interface
I have the Tascam Model 12 which is supposed to be a DAW controller as well but I never got it to function as such. However, after I get a mix on the Model 12, I can send it to my DAW from the built in SD card. I am experimenting because I want to see if there is a difference by running the Model 12 to the interface as described in this video. I will also continue to see about getting the Model 12 to do what it's supposed to do.
Thank you for your information very clear and a specific. one question, since I'm using the main out from the mixer to the interface, where do I get signal for my PA system?
Additionally, if I want to check volumes via headphones; is that possible? Using zoom to video podcast, in case that make a difference. I have no idea what I'm doing
Too detailed 💖
I have a Yamaha MG06X mixer, a Behringer UMC204HD audio interface and a pair of M-Audio BX8 monitors, how do I setup (connect all the items to my laptop), for:-
i) Recording to the DAW on laptop
ii) Purely for playing music from my laptop through audio interface, mixer and monitors.
Enjoying all your videos, keep them coming.
Do you leave the mixer knob on audio interface at the middle setting? Or towards inputs or playback
Can you create a loopback? Or can you please explain what loopback is?
I am a newbie at Home Studio setups. I have a Yamaha MG06X mixer, a Behringer UMC204HD audio interface and a pair of M-Audio Monitors.
A couple of questions - how do I setup (connect all items) the mixer, audio interface and monitors to my laptop for,
i) Recording to the DAW on my laptop
ii) Purely for music playback from my laptop through the audio interface, mixer and monitors.
Hope you can help; thanks for all your great channel & videos.
Great video very informative with a good breakdown of a complicated solution.
Questions:
1. Why would I connect the mixer to an interface to do any type of recording?
2. What is the advantage of connecting the interface to the laptop, the mixer to the interface, and the MICs to the mixer?
3. Why wouldn’t I connect the mixer to the laptop, the interface to the mixer, and the MICs to the Interface?
Not a big audio expert but I do have some experience in home recording, so this is just my opinion...
1. Might be a cheaper solution for anybody that wants more inputs to just get one of these rather than upgrading the interface itself. However impractical that maybe, it is entirely plausible that somebody might not want to trade in their interface for an additional two inputs (at double the cost) over spending just another $100 for a mixer with 4+ inputs.
I believe though most people that will go for this option are going to be people with a lot of external gear, like synths, drum machines, samplers, etc., so that they can capture all of those elements together, be able to mix them, and then send it to their DAW easily after the fact.
2. Just being able to use the mixer in the manner of which I said in the last point is my guess. I can also see this being used for podcasters and small bands as well, essentially, just for anybody with a lot of inputs being able to capture the sum of their mixer output into a stereo track.
3. If the mixer has a USB output option available, you certainly can do that. Although it'd be kind of redundant, given the audio interfaces are more or less designed to be utilized for your computer... I'm going to guess that because of that, the signal might not come through entirely as one would want. I can kind of maybe imagine doing this if you're wanting to capture the audio of a computer going into the interface and out through the mixer, but that'd mean having another computer at the end of the routing so as to not have a feedback loop of sorts. Not really that practical.
Another possible use would be if you have a mixer with built-in hardware compression and/or limiter and don't want to have to purchase a pre-amped hardware compressor.
Thanks, good info
You're welcome.
I have a PreSonus 96 USB and a Yamaha mg10xu going to a PC, I also have a Katana 50 Amp and a midi keyboard and running all through a loop pedal to my amp. I'm using Ableton software.
I followed your tutorial but when I turned on the mic, got a lot of static with a soft cyclic clicking and don't know what to do... My goal is to be able to record vocals and instruments into Ableton on my PC. New to this and appreciate your knowledge and any help or videos you can offer...at this point I wouldn't be opposed to a video call...
I have a question. Let's say I'm connecting to a very large mixer. One with 20+ Mic inputs. I understand that the main out is what's being connected to the Interface. But does that mean that all the audio will be sent into the Interface/laptop?
I ask because if I'm trying to record a live performance, I don't understand how to send the audio out to the speakers/monitors as well as the Interface/laptop for recording.
I've been trying to find info on this and haven't seen anyone explaining this sort of scenario. Please Help. I want to be able to record while the live music is being performed and heard in the room.
Thank you sir
Question ... I have the Alesis Core 1 Interface and I want to run it to my Behringer PMH-2000 Mixer. My Alesis Core1 only has one XLR/quarter inch port.
Can I use a Mono Quarter inch cable from interface to mixer? And, how much of a difference does it make if I used a TRS quarter inch cable or XLR CABLE ???
is sending vocals from this mixers USB output to the software as high quality as sending XLR sound to the audio interface to the software?
Great 👍
Thx 🙏
Nice video sir! Can you have a video also with MAUDIO MTRACK DUO in cakewalk bandlab???
Great vid , I have the same mixer and am very happy , just wanted to know , if I want to monitor with two sets of head phones so another person can listen , what socket should I use as well as phones ?
Unfortunately you'll need a headphone splitter.
Hi Jordan, thanks againg for a great content.
I am concidering buying the SSL 2+ to use together with the Yamaha MG10XU. Will I benefit from this setup for home recording or should I continue to use the Yamaha as an audio interface? I use it with SM7b, AT2035, Keyboards, Bass guitar, iPad and computer audio and simple recordings and audio / video editing + DAWs.
which give the best sound xlr or balance cables?
You are genius))))
can we connect the instruments and record by separate track?
Hi! Thanks for sharing your knoledge! I have read many foros and the Presonus page itself, and none of them recommends to plug line level inputs through the audiobox interfaces (mine is audiobox96). Will this technique (putting the knobs on the interface to 0) work without breaking the preamps? Thanks!
You are not interpreting the info correctly. Line level is made for this.
how does this work when you are streaming a big event and you have to tap sound from mixer and not interfere with house sound
Best illustration 😊
Thanks
i can record synths like mother 32 and rev 2 through it withough any issues and print them to my daw as well?
I believe so.
Is the in built interface only for channel 1and2? Or all the channels can hear through the mix or do I need to get an audio interface since I need to do live worship with music instruments
Hi Jordan! Super nice video! quick question, will any mixer and my m audio fast track pro will work with your setup? I want to do a live streaming through OBS and through FB.
It should.
what are some playback options with this setup? thanks
With that setting, how to connect also the laptop sound to sound system?
Thank you for a short, well scripted, nicely illustrated tutorial. Almost looks like you know how it works! (kidding) Thanks. TT
This is an explanatory tutorial guide. Weldon sir. Please, can I get tutorial video for recording and mastering on cubase5?
Thanks for the Video - You used only 1 & 2 Lines from the Mixer but the Mixer has another 5 Line Inputs - If i need to Plug a Midi Keyboard, Guitar, Bass and Turntable to the Mixer will I still Choose "line 1 and 2" from the DAW? Thanks!
is it possible to use that set up for live streaming with fullband? without amplifiers but just using DI boxes?
How are you Sir.? I hope you can help me. I have a room studio one 4 artist a Mac, interface and speaker. I tried to add a mixer and voice harmony singer, I can't get it done
If I have external speakers connected to my only 2 outs on the mixer can I connect the audio interface to the monitor outs?
Hi Jordan, Quick question , I bought a behringer 1202usb to connect my dj controller - mixer- to speaker. When I tested it at home the sounds looks good, the moment I go to an open space , the sound is terrible and very muggy/not clean. I am not sure if this a problem of the speaker (Sony XP 700) , or mixer ( not sure if I am doing something wrong when I select a channel ) or the Wi-Fi that is causing the problem. I use 1/4 to connect the mixer to the speaker. Any thoughts?
Done subcribing boss quick question can i record together my guitar ang vocal in separate tracks with this set up?
2 things , can u do a video on Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 where why u get a buzzing or static noise when in use , and also in terms of recording can u set up multiple channels if u have 16 channel mixer or has to be one
So can I hear myself when I record also while the instrumental is playing ?
Hi, how do we connect our interfaces to the mixer for live performances such as using ableton live in a live setting.
Very clear
Glad to hear that
Is there a way to combine the mics to do left and right like if I was going to have a meeting and did not want one mic to go to each left or right channels ? Thx great video
Just connect one of the sides. 90% of the time, a mono signal like this is perfectly fine.
Hi, excellent video, I have a question. How to connect the audio mixer to interface Zoom UAC-232? Thankyou
You can follow the same steps as this video...
Hi
Thanks for the video.please i would like to know in case we want to add piano guitar and more mike what are we suppose to do???? Should we just add them on the empty sockets on the mixer or there are other things to add?
That works.
@@kettnercreative thank you very much .is there anyway to use it while doing Facebook live with an android???if yes , is there any video i can watch to learn how to do it??? Because we would like to do our church service online using an android without loosing the sing quality because our wifi sometime doesn't work as we want to so we get to use phone rather than laptop.thank you.
Great video !
I was wondering, what is the best to connect the Yamaha mixer to the interface between XLR or TRS ?
Thanks
Good video, as usual! Do I need an interface with two inputs? Mine is focusrite solo with only one input. I"m using it for gaming videos with an voice modifier software. Does it make any difference? Thanks.
Unless you're doing a lot of panning on your mixer, the Scarlett Solo will work great.
@@kettnercreative do you mean using the interface without the mixer? I want to add the mixer because is the only way the voice modifier is working. But my interface has inly 1 input. Can I use just one? Thanks.
Is there any practical advantage in using this kind of setup instead of just plugging the mixer to your computer via USB?
I actually own this audio box and just ordered mg10xu. I was just thinking about replacing the audio box completely with the mixer. Anyway thanks for the informative videos! much appreciated
You're better off just connecting the MG10XU to the computer with USB.
I have usb mixer that can be connected to my macbook. For vocal recording over music in garage band, where do I connect my headphone? Do i plug it into the mcbook or into the mixer? I have the track playing in the garage band and want my vocal recorded in a separate track, but when recording I want to hear my vocals and the music through the headphone.
Thanks
Do I have to set up my computer audio also as I’m not receiving any audio in my daw?
Genial 👍🏾!! Xlr is good
Hi ! I have a question about the connection beetween audiointerface and mixdesk.
When i connect my desk in USB to my computer i have latency with my voice. Can The latency will be deleted If i add audiointerface ? Thanks for your reply.
