      Even if she does do time. There’s a chance she, much like in BTAS where someone wronged Nigma, will never get a peaceful sleep ever again. Nigma will be out there, always after her. If Bruce doesn’t find her corpse in a puzzling crime scene years later.

    This Riddler is a prime example of how villains aren’t born, they are made. He was a good man, socially awkward but his heart was in the right place. He had no interest in money, he was focused on the science and just wanted to help people.

    • @drmusketeer2388
      @drmusketeer2388 8 месяцев назад +417

      That’s part of why I liked Gotham’s portrayal of the Riddler. He started out as a good guy. Socially awkward forensic technician who dabbled in riddles on the side. He was very eccentric and aloof but well meaning. He had quirks but always meant well until his alter-ego began to take form and shattered his psyche once he was pushed too far. He was a good man who was pushed around and belittled for no good reasons until he took control for himself and struck back.

    • @mikewmccann
      @mikewmccann 8 месяцев назад +152

      @@drmusketeer2388 let’s not forget the Riddler from Batman TAS. There Riddler was a game designer, he loved making games and puzzles to entertain people, but the moment he created his most popular game, the greedy corporate boss, dropped him so he could solely profit from his work. His desire for revenge was understandable, he reformed for a bit, went back to making games and toys, and was successful but he missed being the Riddler and reverted back to crime. The corporate boss wanted to make millions off his game, but had he not killed the golden goose, Nigma wouldn’t have been corrupted and he could have made billions.

      I loved the end of this episode. It harkens back to BTAS Batman. With how human and empathetic Bruce is. Yet we still all know, much like how Bruce died the day Batman was born, the same goes for his rogues gallery. His villains merely became how they are, with how they chose to use their pain. How to react to it. When Gotham drove them astray, some gave into despair and hate, to hurt the world. Others, had hope and friends, to mend the broken world.

      Yet Nigma wouldn’t have done what he did, if people treated him better. Offered him help and guidance to break free from his illness, his vices, his addictions. Yet no one did. Except Batman it seems. Deep down, he wants villains like Nigma to change. He sees a glimmer of the good in his villains society didn’t. It’s what makes the Dark Knigh so compelling. He’s human. His eternal war, eternal strife: the duality of man. The same war characters like Dr Jekyll, lost.

      As to does Wally West, he takes an active role as the flash in reforming his bad guys and making sure they stay out of trouble. Often times he is so well liked among the Rogues, he can just tell them to walk to jail when he is too busy and they will. LOL. Like in that Justice league anime. He turns back to the Trickster and tells him "Oh ya, as soon as you take your meds turn yourself in. -finger guns.-" Trickster: "Will do, caught me again flash." On god. lol. Modern Day Writers keep forgetting Batman isn't about the edgy omnipotent rodent who hospitalized everyone he comes across.
      It's always been about a Broken Man trying to help those who are just as broken as him become better. Dick Grayson, Mr Freeze, Harley Quinn, Solomon Grundy, Killer Croc.
      Ironically, The Riddler is often the best example for Batmans code. He has consistently turned his life around and recovered, often becoming a superhero who assists Batman. The issue is Comics being comics, there's always a reboot, a concussion, or Lazarus Pit to revert their character back to square one.
      Honestly? I love the 'Good' Nigma. Just found him to be entertaining, and liked him working with Batman to solve puzzles and cases.

      He sees the nuance.
      He just doesn't think it excuses the psychopath.
      Neither does batman. Riddler is still a villain. The answer to the riddle is when there is more than one, they're both just A villain. And of the two, one keeps on being a psychotic villain. Guess which? 😂

    • @hypnopompicfool985
      @hypnopompicfool985 9 месяцев назад

      @@FFKonokoIf he understands the nuance then why is he implying that this clip negates his psychotic thoughts and actions? Why are you also implying that any of this is trying to excuse his actions when it simply just explains how he came to be and why he acted the way he did?
      Explanation is not justification, a cautionary tale with a sympathetic villain is NOT to tell people that we should ignore and allow murder, it's to explain how murders come to be, how they are enabled, and pushed along. It's so that we can understand where the roots of these issues lay and who else may be partially responsible along the way to keep this from happening in the future. That's why they leave her for the police because she had a hand in it. If you understand all the nuance then why are you claiming that anyone here is excusing the villain's actions? I haven't seen any of that.

      @@FFKonoko There's plenty of functional psychopaths living normal lives. She messed with him and made him a villain. If she hadnt of sabotaged his experiment he might never have been the Riddler.
