The thing Ive always appreciated from Matt is him being realistic and not holding himself to an unrealistic expectation. Things like coming back to handle something when youre feeling up to it or just being okay with things that can cause frustration like not having stuff put back where its supposed to. Really great video in organization and just a general great advice in regards to cleanliness and orgnizqation leading to feeling fulfilled and living better. Thanks Matt
My wife has clutter everywhere but keeps it maintained in her personal spaces. My kids…make my eyes twitch. They are just messy for the sake of being messy and spread that chaos everywhere they go.
Gotta say Matt, I've been watching a relatively long time. I'm impressed with much you've improved your physicality. You're a genuine inspiration. You look great dude.
The older I get, the more I appreciate and thoroughly enjoy the organizing process! Putting stuff away in its rightful spot, and throwing away stuff you will never use is extremely satisfying. I love your outlook on life, Matty! You strive for the best, and deserve it with your hard work and dedication.
I literally just told my 12yo stepson that I'm done yelling at him and punishing him for not cleaning up after himself. If he makes the decision to leave his room a mess, he can deal with ants and stuff and his friends not wanting to come visit. If he wants to make the decision to leave his bike outside and not put away, he can deal with it being all rusty, or worse getting stolen. There was far more to the conversation, but I'm glad I'm not the only Dad who has decided to stop yelling and forcing the kids to clean up, and just deal with it quietly haha. In other news, your garage is amazing!
It's wild, because I do similar in my garage... usually in the tune of straighening and cleaning up my bottles, folding and organizing microfibers, wiping down surfaces and my cars interior, cleaning up light switches... etc. Haha
This is exactly what I need Matt, because I am very disorganized.. And when I finally get somewhat organized, I feel really good!! But normally, I hate myself For not being more organized!!
Great video Matt, reminds me of the old days. More of this please, I find your pottering around the house videos gives me the best ideas for things I need to brush up my own act on. Keep it up, loving ITH
Hey Matt, great advice. me and my dad and I got in a tiff a while ago and he said just because you do it that way does it mean it’s the right way I said it’s not because I’m doing it that way, but I only do things the right way. so I wasn’t saying I invented the right way to do it. I just found out and learned the right way to do it. If everyone did that the world would be a lot better place have a great one.
The struggle is real Mat! I can relate on so many levels watching this video. If it wasn't for me the trash/recycling wouldn't get done either. I just find life easier if you pickup/clean as you go rather than waiting for the big cleaning day.
The pain is real, I just don’t feel comfortable unless the home and everything in it has its place. And as I’ve gotten older it seems to have got worse!
Tinkering in the garage is what we do. I thoroughly enjoy doing exactly what you have done in your garage. Finding things that need to be cleaned up and organized. Therapeutic.
They make ceramic coatings for wood that you can apply over the Rubio Monocoat on your counter for some additional protection. I've not tried them personally yet, but I've started looking into them for my dining room table which has a similar finish to Rubio. One I've seen is the N3 Nano coating.
Being organized is good for you :) and helps you save sooooo much time. Thank you for another great video :) would love to see more on ideas you organize and tips :) u are awesome:)
I found this video very helpful and motivating. I don’t know how many views you get off it but I really hope you continue to share around this topic. Happy Birthday!
I'm both obsessed with everything being organized, clean and out of the way, but also a slob, messy and lazy. Not a good combination. 2023 and 2024 have been years of improvement so far, and following the LZ project and now regular Obsessed Garage videos has helped tremendously.
20:03 I enjoy creating schedules and lists and I enjoy even more completing them. I enjoy lists so much I read engineering books on computer operating systems to find out exactly how many scheduling algorithms there are in an operating system and the best context to use them because everyone knows you can't be a proficient scheduler as an operating system without a thorough knowledge of the possible lists that can be deployed in an operating system...
Do you use google keep? How many lists do you have? There are probably 20 lists in my google keep and I look at them as much as people check social media on their phones.....I don't do the social media other than posting on forums or youtube videos where I can type at my desktop on a real keyboard. I will never click on the bell to be bothered with a video being released and instead will see it when I click on subscriptions or a recommended video when I choose to watch. Just cleaning up a list can make me feel better, even if the task isn't done. My garage isn't OG level, but I do real work with welding, machining, etc. and don't have as much space. Most people are blown away by it, but I know better and realize so much more could be done.
Good stuff. I bet that SC Blur is a rocket ship. May wanna keep an eye on that shock, good bit of oil it seemed at 22:39. Quality control has been awful from Fox for a few years now. For those that are serious, they'll service them right off the show room floor, just like us OG people will polish and coat a new car. Keep up the great work!
That Rubio Monokote needs additional coats from time to time. Also alot of furniture makers are starting to use ceramics over the Rubio to extend the life of the coating.
Not sure if you have something like this but what I do, because I also have a summer/weekend house, anything I come across that I need/want to bring out to that house, I keep in a certain area so when I do go, I don't forget things. I noticed that as you were organizing, you were saying, "this has to go to Helen" and then you put it back in the same drawer :-) How long has it been sitting in that drawer needing to go to the other house and you keep forgetting to take it when you do go? :-)
Good video.. just a few suggestions.. never spray screen cleaner directly on a monitor.. always into a towel.. also never use an ammonia based cleaner. If u are going to have a shed that is for extra items I would have swing open doors and perhaps a little closer or the garage.. but I understand if logistics prevented that.. also u could use some slatwall in that shed to get more things off the ground
Welp...Matt...that's it..your organizing video mesmerized my Dog lol....Thanks for the great video....tempted to do a reorg of my Garage further....to darn cold to store stuff on the driveway while I would reorganize...snow....bleh.
Great video on focus and structure as it pertains to organizing your life, and your space! I have always followed the mantra "A place for everything, and everything has its place." Product question Matt - noticed you used Waterless wash (McKee's?) on the counters and to clean the Kranzle - was thinking of getting your new Shop cleanup package - can diluted Green Star be used on counters like those and plastic surfaces or is it too aggressive?
One of my favorite videos. If you enjoy organizing your garage, why would you want to hire somebody to do it for you? I can't imagine they would ever meet your quality expectations.
I used to think that way, but if you find the right person, they can be trained to get the results desired. I would love to have someone do it all the time, so it stayed that way. It would mainly be to watch after the family.
I am a pack rat and life got so busy for me and our home got so disorganized! My wife has been wanting to just get rid of everything we don't use or touch! The throwing away toys that are just junk and never used is exactly what she wants! I need to figure out what I don't use and what is easy to replace, like dry rotted rakes and other garden tools! Being in a rental, I wish our landlord would pay for the attic magic lift! 🤣
There's times I go on a cleanup and org mission in the house and garage... Feel free to hire me to run your IT infrastructure and I'll keep your devices all cleaned up!
You know if you wrote down on paper the plan for this video and submitted it to a number of people that RUclips employs to make suggestions such as Renee Ritchie, you might get a response that no one will watch it, it's boring etcetera. WRONG! This video was completely entertaining and informative. So what I want to say is if Matt thinks something like this is not worth doing this video proves that he should just go with his gut and make videos about what he wants to. Hopefully those of us watching will cause the RUclips algorithm to invite other people to watch. PS, I noticed Renee Ritchie this week has come crawling back to making regular videos.
Hey mate love your content. Currently redoing my garage and you’re an inspiration ! Question if I may, how come you use the grid type flooring instead of the epoxy fleck or similar ?
Epoxy is cheap and easy, that's why most people do it. But...it fails easily, is slippery, discolors, and is generally nothing but a big imperfection. I suggest either porcelain tile or these Swisstrax.
I needed this video for some cleaning insperation 😅 cleaning while listening. Have you moved on from the previous stairs you used to the current brand ? I think it was magic stairs ?
I hate to say this i have found it is cheaper to sub the work out! I have many tools but i am not all show in my work shop . Simple is better and buying tools you will never use is a waste of time when i can be working on my five cars and keeping them up to my standards
Nobody understands the way we are. I feel like this video hits Home with the real OG people. 😊
Dude I didn’t even realize 100% that I was like this until 10 min into the video 😂
Amen brotha!

I love organisation videos, but an organisation video by the OG himself is just next level 💯💯💯

The car keys i would keep somewhere more secure, especially spare keys in a safe. If someone breaks in then the keys are right there for them to take.

No, we tried to do Majicc stair, but they wouldn't fit due to the ceiling height and truss layout. They are the best if you can fit them.
I don’t have a shed and my attic isn’t really made for storage (roof trusses). I guess that’s why my garage is so junky. Dangit!!
Did you plan it so all your registrations are due in the same month?
They do it by birthday in FL, so I get them all at once.
