Dark forest theory in practice, but on bigger and more terrifying scale... There's no escape. No chance for run... Only slow quiet walk to not get attention of the beast and buy the time for next generations to do the same and repit the cycle... God damn, that story is amazing in it's terrifying concept, and how it can be a one of possible realitys (hopefully not).
I’m hoping Steven Hawkins is incorrect and the reason we haven’t met other species is because they destroyed themselves, like we have almost done several times. If Steven is correct we have been blasting where we are to other likely apex predators is going to bite us in the behind.
@@tufelhunden5795Actually, you're probably just early. Even though they're older by far, the O, A, B, and F Class Stars are also hotter with much more radiation, so if you assume a few baselines for planets to develop Life ( namely, a non-molten surface and reasonably insane levels of radiation) then the planets around those stars likely were reaching "Habitability" (and I use that word loosely) at around the same time as Earth and the other G Types. K and M Type Stars may have a bit of a head start on us, but probably not to much, and given that FTL travel may ACTUALLY be Science Fiction and the fact that the Universal Speed limit is INCREDIBLY slow compared to the distances, then the chances that they either aren't more advanced than us, on par with us, or *slightly* more advanced than us and nothing has crossed the void yet.
Of course, the dark forest is kinda silly, like what's the point of crossing the vastness of space between the stars, to wage war or destroy. It's a waste of resources. In this story it's even more insane, cause the time scale and the distances of galaxies. For the evolution part, I mean, that's also a very impractical set up, vs just setting up colonies normally, leaving them unprepared and ignorant of what ever threat is coming for them. If it ever does.
@@TheJadeFist Warfare makes plenty of sense on a galactic scale: there are only going to be so many places to live, after all. Probably the best and the most nightmarish HFY story I've heard yet. Absolutely love the Dark Forest stuff, it's terrifying to the core. Really hope there's a part 2 for this and I sincerely hope it lives up to the first one.
40 standard years was 160 Sol years. So... When J said that the ship would take 2 years to get to the station what he meant was 8 sol years. However, it would be more because the ship would need to decelerate and change directions to match the trajectory of the station orbiting in its own star system. I'm thinking this ship is an ark. If a ship leaves our system and tries to intercept the trajectory of the nearest star system to us (Alpha Centauri), the ship would need to accelerate at a max of 2 G's in order not to harm any living beings aboard to the halfway point then decelerate down at 2 G's. It will take approximately 70,000 years to get to the star system using our current technology. In order for more meaningful travel, we need to develop inertia dampeners (so we won't feel the G's from acceleration or deceleration) and faster than light speeds as the nearest star is over 4 lightyears away from us. So, myeah, to a post FTL people, an ark from Earth would be moving painstakingly slow. And it would have to be an Ark since there'd be more than 2 thousand generations between launching the ship and finally reaching Alpha Centauri.
It would take about a year at a constant 1g acceleration to reach fairly close to light speed and you would then have covered about half a light year. So if you did that and then cruised for a while before decelerating at 1g you would reach Alpha Centauri in about 5 or 6 years as seen from Earth (with it being less from the traveller's perspective due to relativistic effects). Of course the problem is what fuel you could possibly use to maintain a continuous 1g acceleration for a year (and later a continuous 1g deceleration for a year). Plus of course what protection you would need to stop your ship being destroyed by just hitting dust or larger rocks whilst travelling close to light speed.

I wonder what they would have thought of humanity in warhammer 40k. There is a human populated planet called catachan, and is an extreme deathworld by 40k standard.
I just listened for the first half or so and thought the name actually was some alien spellung just pronounced as Toddler, but English isn't my first language, so I sometimes mishear the softer sounds and have been told by English natives my B's and P's are sometimes hard to tell apart. Yeah I'm gonna need more of this one
i like that, since the theory that our milky way is actually in a super void appeared... many histories include it xD
Also... is this an SCP? i remember an SCP with the same story...
Is it the one where the aliens discover human homeworld is actually humans 2nd home and that Earth was destroyed by Cthulhu and that humans fight a secret war to prevent Cthulhu spreading to other planets?
This story hit, in a good way, my sci-fi nerve centre. In the sea of sci-fi imaginative paucity, I commend this story.. I am guessing the only way to defeat such an enemy is to develop psychic and magical abilities.
Lowkey dark forest theory is under-utilitized that's kinds crazy to see stars dimming
Black forest theory is the kinda sci-fi horror that just sends chills 🥶
Me listening: commander toddler.
Me reading: ahh, tobler.
Excellent story, great narration. Thank you.
LOL given the size of the ship I imagined it could have been a pre warp travel human ship from 40K
This is a great story and a better narration.
Wow, this is a good story, best one from this channel by far
We didnt choose it. But the Others made sure we cant leave this system.
Damn! Good story, can't wait for the next iteration.! ❤❤❤
please Sir my i have some more??? omg this story had me on the edge of my seat the whole time i can't wait for part two
Love the new narrators, I wonder if they are going to do any collaborations.
this is a good story. is it part of a series?
what is the story called?
is their a link to the authors original post?
Great story, even greater reading.
I wish to have more stories from this universe
You mean this isn’t part 2? I thought there was one before this where they found earth
For the almighty narrator and the algorithm
Wonderful story. We need more!
You do awesome work! Thanks you!
Part 2 please great work I really like it
You shoude continue this its a great story to have a chapeter
Is this a continuation of the other story where a group of explorers found an ice like earth?
I'm ready for part 2. At least I hope there is a part 2
Woah. I wasnt expecting dark forest theory, especially not like this.
loved the mystery threat twist
I wonder what they would have thought of humanity in warhammer 40k. There is a human populated planet called catachan, and is an extreme deathworld by 40k standard.
The design was infact- very human
Need a part 2...
Sentience can only evolve on a deathworld; there is no need to be sentient on anything that is not a deathworld.
So.... Tobler sounds like toddler, and dwarfs becomes dorfs. 😂😂😂
I just listened for the first half or so and thought the name actually was some alien spellung just pronounced as Toddler, but English isn't my first language, so I sometimes mishear the softer sounds and have been told by English natives my B's and P's are sometimes hard to tell apart. (B basically only exists in loan words in my native language.)
So not blaming the reader as I'm far worse with it myself, but rather my ears being unable to distinguish between different alien (foreign) sounds. 😝
Is the Keebler Void where Keebler elves come from?
hello there good story man I liked it is there going to be a next chapter...
That was a pretty cool story
This is a pretty good one.
this reminds me of the back story of the guyver, humans are created as bioweapons for some great cosmic war.
Had anyone found a sequel to this? If so, what's the video called?
link to part 2??
More, please. is there a video two?
Is there a part 2?
