I love your videos I did not grow up with a family member being a cobbler only a uncle who owned a shoe factory in costa rica . I still can smell the scent of the hides stack as high as five feet. well with all your videos it has inspired to thinking of persuing to be a cobbler unfortunately ever cobbler in my area isnt willing nor have any info on were I could go to learn. Today march 31 2023 I went to a local one and hinted of wanting to intern for which he was like its a dying field lol I even mentioned your videos and others and he claims to know all of you guys because according to him he is sales rep for cobbler products lol I am not giving up though even if I have to find online videos and purchases shoes off of goodwill I will . thank you for being a inspiration Your works amazing Your one of the few who really loves what they do and has the skill set to do it and the pride not many left with that pride
I love it when you take a break and relax. I don't know why, but it allows me to relax. Miss when you don't give us advice, you have sound advice because you enjoy life.
Hi Steve, nice to see another great video from you (despite your injured thumb). And - what could be nicer in the world than sitting with a good friend and drinking a coffee. Take care!
Great Video Steve, I hope get back to my hometown this summer and maybe I'll get a chance to visit your shop and meet you in person, Take Care my FRIEND!!!
I am sorry to see your thumb injured Steve; Glad you healed quickly! You make them much better than the originals out of the factory! Shad Merci and cheers.👞🔨
Steve, it was a sad day in the very early 1980s when I wore off the gold imprint on the bottom of my Florsheim Imperial wingtips. (I still wear these to work!) Seeing you add that back on, and also fixing the French binding, is just tonic for me. I hope your thumb heals completely and quickly. Thanks for yet another awesome video!
I enjoy all that you teach us about shoes. The best part is learning about you; how you care about what you do. Your "quirks" (looking at us from the printer, ...) are so enjoyable, I see a bit (or a lot) of me and how I respond to life. Thank you for the knowledge, humor, and love of life.
Great watching yr video Steve. A large bunch of Florsheim shoes to go into a betterment’s program. Well done giving yr fans another master class of your work. Cracking result, fantastic looking shoes bud. shine On
We wore either "wing tips" or" penny loafers" (mostly Ivy league apparel) in high school, (south side of Chicago) Steveroo... I had a pair of both in HS... At the same time the Beatles were very popular and so we all went to either Flagg Brothers or Thom McCann and got some Beatle boots or shoes with Cuban heels.... Great time, as we dressed up far more than we do now... I never wore blue jeans to school and either did my classmates.... Different time Steve.... Those Golden Harvest are gorgeous....! Great video and as usual great job, you're the MASTER....! Greg
I've been buying and selling shoes for a long time. I've been hoping to run across a pair of Golden Harvests. I think I've sold every Florsheim color except the Golden Harvest. How cool is that? You got 2 pairs. Wow. Thanks for what you do, mate. I've learned more from watching you than just about anywhere else. Awesome, well done brother.
March madness is here! Great video. Seems like you learned something too about the pair with the leather gemming. You have an amazing business, you will never be without work because you are so great. I don't care how long your videos are as long as you talk and explain.
OK your shoes look like pieces of artwork. Those mustard colored wing tips were to die for just absolutely gorgeous. I wouldn’t want to wear them. I wouldn’t want to put them on the ground. They should be put on a pedestal. They’re gorgeous. Your attention to detail is spectacular. Sigh.
Hallelujah! Steve is back. These shoes are already excellent considering the materials used and with the patina they're just beautiful. The comfort must be incomparable with all the care given to the details by Doctor Steve. I would love to have a video dedicated exclusively to the different Vibram insoles. An expert's point of view is incomparable. I do a lot of sport (about 50 km of running per week and more than 20 hours of training). I use Vibram soles on Brooks running shoes (which I had fitted by a specialist in the only Vibram shop in Paris) and I always use a hiking shoes with Vibram soles.
Great video Steve.....you know I love my Florsheims. Which reminds me.....have to get the next pair (Shell Cordovan) in the mail to you. "And hey man, why you triggering me wit dat metal brush on those shoes.....I'm outta here!"
Glad your thumb healed so well and so quickly! I've hurt my thumb just as bad (but not with a bell skiver!) and it's amazing how much you use your thumb for everything.
I always love to see Florsheims. That white film on the shell is something that happens when shell sits for a long time. It's all the waxes and oils from the tanning process coming to the surface. If you buff the hell out of them, that softens up and absorbs back into the leather. Perfectly normal.
@@BedosLeatherworksLLC ok, that makes way more sense, lol. I was sitting here wondering how you could possibly not be familiar with it with all your years of experience.
They are my shoes. So learning opportunity for me here on using conditioner. What I did was buy these secondhand, and as such I didn’t know the history of them before I had gotten them. So I soaked them in Kiwi Leather Conditioner to hopefully get some moisture back into the shoes. Knowing what I know now, there are better products and ways to condition shoes (Saphir and/or Venetian).
Wanted to moisturize them a bit before sending them in and working on them. Cracking can be a concern on shell, so I figured soak them and let them rest a bit before working on them.
@@Charlesj1989 I used to be a Kiwi man myself before I started watching Steve lol I’m a big fan of Bick 4 conditioner now, it’s not much more expensive than Kiwi but it’s miles better
Came because the algorithm sent me...saw a flag i liked...and have enjoyed every minute of every video for years now. And i am a woman with guys that think dress shoes are the boots with out the crap all over them or on a really dress up, like weddings, the black tennis shoes.
Sir, I am so glad you have a happy place, we all could wish to be so lucky. Yes I too was watching with amazement at how close that hammer gets to that thumb
I so appreciate your work ethic and positive spirit . I will be sending you an email so I can discuss some hand made cowboy boots and some of the reason for different things about them. Best Wishes and Blessings from Oklahoma were we are not afraid of work and joking and have fun while working daylight to dark almost every day ❤
Great job Steve. I cringed in pain when you told us how you injured your thumb. I cut tip of my middle finger years ago and it still is tender... hope you dont have nerve damage..
I love seeing the joy your work brings you. I do wonder though. You ever do a job just a little too well and start thinking, it is my size…. Lol. I gotta email you on an LV duffle bag I inherited. Gotta save up first! Lol.
👍🏾 Again, great craftsmanship, Steve! I really love the open-lace blucher wingtip shoe design. Florsheim, J&M, Allen Edmond, French Shriner (I've owned a few pair of these) and Bostonian, to name a few. They are great candidates for multiple resolings. I just wish I you could give an industrial strength coatin g to cover those beautiful finished soles you showed us! 🤩
With all those mid-soles and JRs, that's a LOT of leather in that batch of hoof-covers. I'm going to go with mid-soles as well when it's time to have my AEs done. I need that extra support under my hooves. Good seeing that thumb healing up. Blessings brother.
So essentially, they were compromising little by little eventually culminating on selling fully cemented soles that never really last. Thanks for giving us some insight into the company.
You should wrap the bandage tightly with some black electrical tape. It will make the bandage waterproof and will keep the bandage on even with heavy use. Also get the stretch cloth type bandaids. They also make "end of finger" bandages in stretch cloth that cover the end of the finger and also wrap around the finger. Get the finger clean and dry and put on the bandage first then cover it with the electrical tape. I was a heavy mechanic for many years and always had nicks and cuts so like you I had to keep working but if you try this it will keep the bandage on and the cut clean.
Wauw what a fantastic job you did in this project specially the first pair of shoes and the discovery you did. Love watching you greetings from the Netherlands and be careful with your thumb
Now this, is a Bedo's video. Awesome work, Steve. I am shocked how many pairs of 60's Imperials are still around. Bell skivers, yikes! I cringe watching your knuckles passing by the edge trimmer.
I'm Glad you're here Steve. This channel is like therapy to me. Thank you!
"Just a shoe." I just spent an hour watching you give life to shoes. My happy place.
Golden harvest....harvest gold.... every fridge, stove and dishwasher from the 70s. Now i see even shoes....
You are really on another level of cobbler craftsmanship. Thanks for sharing! Hope to find one cobbler like you. Wish me luck
I love the cobbler's cafe. The work on the shoes is gorgeous.
It all comes down to the brass tacks. Love watching you. You're such an inspiring artist.

I never had a reason to wear suits for work so I never bought Florsheims but I have always liked the look of them. Great restos Steve.
Thanks for letting us share your happy place.
If there is an Oscar for crafts, you will win on leather category, i watch you from Sudan Africa for last 2 years , onwards 👍

Bravo maestro! An advanced course in shoe architecture with results that match the reputation.

Yaaay for the return of coffee time / cobbler and friend cafe!!
Keep friend coming for coffee, nice to see what you are out of the workshop, cuz, your inner peace is reaching lotz of us. Thanx
My compliments Steve, you have the hands of a brain surgeon and the skills of a Renaissance artist, fantastic video and contents ❤
Awesome work Steve let’s continue 👍
Love the longer videos!
A beautiful collection of my favorite dress shoes. Great craftsmanship and restorations. Thanks for the extended video on this mega project.
@46:20 brass bristles. Softer than steel 👍 gorgeous work
Quite a Florsheimapalooza you had there, Steve! Fascinating stuff.
