I am a computer engineer for almost 30 years and I've just enjoyed watching a man fixing shoes for almost an hour. Craftsmanship is a wonderful thing to watch!
Same boat as you, man, and at 44 I'm seriously thinking to switch. The amount of mental stress our work brings is enormous and very difficult to understand unless you've direct experience of it.
I was in IT for over 40 years, since I was 10 years old. I've held nearly every job in the field and the last was a C level director. I was burned out! Walked away and became a handyman contractor. My only regret is not doing it sooner. I'm well into my 50s.
... working-class hero ... no computers clean desk and manicured nails ... Bedo I love to spend with your work every minute ... is a privilege to watch your dedication to your craft ... and keep on going coz not too many as you left on this world ...
I’m recovering from the virus after being in hospital. And it’s my birthday today I just wanted to say you cheer me up and make me feel better. Love your work you are a skilled master of excellence. Carol x
Hi, I enjoy watching a true craftsman work. I don't care about pricing, people who own quality footwear know what they're getting. It's great to see there are true craftsman still in business. Good luck and Godspeed!!!
I can see why these are your favorite shoes. I’ve never owned one or worn one, but just the sheer amount of options and creativity you can do to make these shoes look amazing must be fun as hell.
These are wallstreet investment banker CEO shoes. Lol. They are beautiful top notch American craftsmen quality with the touches that the old school master cobblers would do. And to me, that's the difference between a guy "fixing" your shoes and a true craftsman that is the cobbler working on your shoes. You sir, are a craftsman! And dare I say, artist.
I am having the best time watching all of your videos! I found you about two weeks ago and have been binge watching ever since. *** I love the way you talk to the camera like we are sitting in your shop with you, instead of you talking at us like a lecture.**** I cannot believe the life you bring back to these items. Especially the handbags, it's amazing! Now, I'm on the hunt for a used LV or Gucci, etc., handbag to get restored! It totally irks me the way people talk about having a bag restored like it's not a "real" luxury item anymore. IMO, for most people we save up to buy a luxury item like that and use it faithfully every day. THESE ITEMS USUALLY HAVE SENTIMENTAL VALUE AND IF YOU CAN BRING THEM BACK FROM THE DEAD THEN I'M ALL FOR IT! Like you say, "to each their own".
Sorry you are under-the-weather; easy to say "take care" but you are there for us and are needed. Your family support is most important of all and helps us as well. Enjoyed every part of this upload. Humbly said, "I think this turned out pretty good". Hammertime!
There's hope for humanity when there's folks like this that do high quality work. Integrity is when you do the right thing and you know no one is there lookin' (but you).
this confirms it, youtube has every possible topic or video known to man. this is a special moment as iit is the only topic we've never searched for but is here anyway. congrats.
Back in 1991, I worked part time at a cobbler shop, and the owner had a Rottweiler named Mars. German breed dogs named after Greek Gods for the win! I did minor repairs and finish work, and worked full time as a shoe shiner at the courthouse, commissioned through the shop. Also, inspired by watching your videos, I just replaced the rubber heels on a friend's boots. One of the factory heels fell off, and she lost it. So I replaced both. It wasn't the most beautiful work I've ever done, but pretty good for having just a French hammer, a cobbler's anvil, a utility knife, and a Dremel rotary tool. And I've been using Master's cement for years, too!
Great Work, i like watching a master at work, they need more people like you out their, that is really skill and craftsmanship, keep up the Great work, Harold
I like that there is such immense pride in making subtle improvements, such as ditching fibreboard heels for leather, add that to the actual skill involved in repairing each job. Your car a few episodes back made me a little jealous, but you having Zeus with you for company at work warms my heart. Stay safe, and people please support your local craftspeople.
Have no idea why RUclips recommended this video to me, but it took me down the rabbit hole. Binged watch ABOUT 6 HOURS OF YOUR VIDEOS!!! You sir are a true craftsman and gained a new subscriber ⚒⏱
I agree. It’s called “customize”. That’s the work of art and I support it. It makes you different from the others, paying attention on details which I am looking for getting services done too, make customers satisfy and happy then they willing to pay even higher price, remember trying to stay “ No one can beat your work, not the price ”, quality is number 1. If you guys could pay attention on all the luxury or brand name products, they always put small details on their products to make it different.😉
In the 60's and 70's I used to buy this very brand. Alot of money for shoes! But, from working class guys to lawyers, etc. back in the day, everyone took their shoes to craftsmen such as yourself! A true Artisian! Best to ya',,,,!
Masterful as always, Steve! It warms my heart to see those lovely soles. Reminds me of when my black pebble grain Imperial wingtips were brand new in January 1982. I still wear them regularly, but my cobbler can't come close to your skills. Thanks again, please stay healthy and please continue to make videos!
I have never seen a work of art in progress until now!!! As for the results??? WOW!!!!! I'd want to send you a pair of my shoes just so that the finished product is put on display. Phenomenal work!!!
One of the reasons I love shoes, clothes, and watches among other things is the craftsmanship behind every detail. If my local cobbler surprised me with that kind of work, I would probably stare at them for a few days.
This was one of your best videos. You have such a great sense of detail, work ethic is inspiring and you’ve got a great sense of humor. Unbelievably great craftsmanship and quality.
thanks so much for the great work you do and the enjoyment you give. i am across the pond in the UK and watching your work listening to you fun comment and watching your dog give me a great deal of pleasure.
Now I'm in my mid forties I would love nothing more than to apprentice under somebody like this, shame I wasn't as interested at a more appropriate age. Absolutely magnificent outcome. Thanks so much for sharing it with us. You've definitely got a subscriber for life, I could rewatch this video again thirty seconds after it finishes and learn something new with every viewing. Such a joy to watch a master so comfortable in his trade. I hope your health picked up shortly afterward.
What can be better than working on a pair of your favorite shoes? How about 3 pairs of them (actually 4 but that fun comes later). What you do to the bottom of shoes is definitely art and no way are customers ever not going to want that. You do present a dilemma for your customers in that they probably don't want to wear them and ruin the art!! Really enjoyed the video, all three came out beautiful.
Another beautiful job. Your attention to detail is the special Bedo's touch that gets you customers for life. Nice to see handsome Zeus make an appearance too, keeping you company. Hope you're feeling better--take care, stay safe and be well!
I just LOVE watching you build and "re-build" Shoes, Designer Bags, Boots and more!!! I can tell you that I never took interest in this before the COVID-19 Pandemic, but I find myself watching all of your instructional videos now. They hold my attention for hours and are quite interesting. As a New Yorker who always had a nice Gucci or Louis Vuitton Bag, I was under the impression that I had to send them for repair to their respective Repair Departments. Now I know that is not true!!! I have a pair of dope Gucci Boots where the "GG" fabric has separated/frayed at the crease of the right boot on top. I will be sending them to you for repair!!! Big up to you AND Zeus!!!
As some who works in engineering and ballistics this was truly fascinating. What a craftsman. Never thought I would spend a relaxing hour watching a man fix a pair of shoes.
One of the best thumbnails I've seen in my literal life. My heart skipped a beat and the mouse practically clicked by itself. I need to own a pair and send them to you Steve.
this guy is an artist. I have always worn wingtips and for my money Florsheims are the best. They last forever. I had a shoe salesman tell me that men that come in the store wearing wingtips will always buy wingtips.
I am actually in the process of "building" my first shoe, using leftover materials, an old leather bag. I created a pattern on a wooden model and cut the pieces, now waiting for my sewing material to arrive which I ordered second hand. On youtube there are also useful channels teaching the single steps of showmaking. Bedo of course is pure inspiration! A master ofhis craft!
Details are where it's at..structural and beautiful stuff..I'm into the little things that make your work exceptional..I'm a Retired Goldsmith and Freehand Engraver and think about work on the mm scale and you have been working with the same amount of care and attention as I do. Some very nice antique tools you have there and they will let you have your work be able to stand out to anyone who knows enough to look at it...bottoms up ☝and may you enjoy every moment in your shop.
French tips and the dove tails are by far my most favorite thing in the world. Just screams classy. Wonder if I can get French tips on my horse riding top boots 😂😂
Wow, I'm old. It doesn't seem like so long ago I could walk into a shoe store on Main Street, Johnstown, PA and buy as many pairs of Flosheims as I could afford. A pair of black wingtips and a pair of cordovan bluchers were mandatory as were what we called "Old Maines", a moc toe demi-boot made of heavy waxed leather with thick soles. They were my favorite but they went away along with USA shoe manufacture.
WOW.. I'm watching, thinking that is a LOT of work for fixing an old pair of shoes.... then I see the finished product, holly crap .. better than new!!
I knew the Florsheim Imperials were nice shoes, but had no idea they were that expensive. I bought 2 pairs identical to these at a thrift store last summer for $14 each. One in Cordovan and one in Black. They were both the same size and were so new, they both still had the original finish on the leather soles and the gold leaf on the leather insole that says Florsheim Imperial is still fully intact. They're gorgeous shoes. You can immediately tell from the build and finish on the leather that these didn't come from a big box store, or clothes outlet.
Great stuff, Holdfast you are an artist, and once I stop buying Sketchers I'll be looking you up. I've actually started going to 2nd hand stores to look for shoes that would fit me, that need your touch.
I fell for the "coffee welt" and then laughed out loud when you revealed the joke😁great video as usual, loved it as usual 👍stay safe. Love, respect and best wishes from the UK,👍
Beautiful shoes from a more elegant era. I remember seeing businessmen wearing them when I was a kid. I always thought of them as a "work boot" for executives because of how heavy the soles were.
As a fabricator I understand and appreciate your art. It's exactly why I watch your videos. I like the idea of this brass toe. I'm not sure which florsheim I have with the rubber heal but they look like the black pair in this video. I hope they hold up.
It’s the details in recrafting the shoes that gets my attention. It’s those simple things that customers don’t notice, but makes the difference between someone who cares about what they do vs the guy just trying to make money. You are a class act Steve.
Hello, I am grateful to you for doing the artwork to fix the shoes. There is no difference between repairing cars, computers, or any profession. I appreciate this distinguished artwork. I repeat my thanks to you
Smiling! I do enjoy watching a master craftsman at his trade. Your right people call them grandpa shoes, as a kid living with my aunt and uncle, I got a pair and never wore them because people teased me. It's a throw away world we live in now days and people just don't appreciate quality.
Steve?!?! You DRINK Fiebing's Leather Dye??? (What? You believed that question?) Back atcha brudda. Solid rebuilds on those. I used to do carpentry, and there's nothing I disliked more, than to have to tear apart my own framing. When things are solid, it just feels right. Between shoes, boots, slings, holsters, and such... I've burned through at least half of one 16oz bottle of the Bick 4 (I ordered two bottles). Haven't even gotten to my Tahoe's upholstery yet. Great conditioner for all of those types of items. I still prefer the Saphir Renovateur for maintaining an already cared-for fine leather good... but, for thirsty stuff, lovin' that Bick 4. Get healthy, and extra cookies for the Zeus unit.
I am shocked how valuable my old Florsheim Imperial Wingtips shoes are, I still have four pairs, two balck and two brown. I have them more than 40 years, and they are still in good shape.
I am so happy of seeing those shoes to be in their excellent shapes ever,I am sure that they are much more beautiful than their first made, you do magics, you are not wasting your time on shoes , you put all your love on them , actually you are mad about your job doing and that's something all the customers should see , bad job quality never ever knows you Stevie, I think you did hammering without announcement : it's hammer time , the 🔨 time announcement mustn't been forgotten dude,God bless you dear stevie.
I like watching your videos because they help me in my repairs I've been doing shoe repair for 52 years and there's always something new to learn especially with the shoes nowadays thank you very much for your videos they really help
When he talked about the died welt i was questioning it but not entirely. When he went down to talk to the camera i just had a massive grin on my face and still felt like a dummy😂
It totally got my wife. She said, "hmmm, interesting", and then followed up up with "aww crap". Then we both laughed hysterically. It's weird we watched a shoe repair video together. Neither of us have anything besides throw em out walmart shoes.
Steve, you are truly a shoe wizard and my highest compliment that you are a true craftsman! I just love watching a craftsman at work, and you are one of the very best. I completely agree that the shoes are a real work of art when you are finished. There are fewer and fewer of people capable of even doing what you’re doing. I do think they would look better at the end if you had them bar laced with shoe trees in the shoes. Thank you for your work.
Hi Steve you are one BAD MAMMA JAMMA‼️ YOU DEFINITELY KNOW YOUR STUFF ‼️ BRAVO ‼️ KUDOS ‼️ ALRIGHTY THEN ‼️ AWESOME SAUCE ‼️ GREAT JOB ‼️👍. I'LL VOTE FOR YOU ANYTIME ‼️😃👏 👏💋💯 💯.
Steve, I love watching your video cos you're very funny and have a sense of humor even though you're facing very tough repair work that previous shoe repair man did a very bad job. I can see you love your job and you also enjoy your work too. Besides, you showed a sense of job satisfaction after you repair work is done and I believed all your customers love your works too ..... Keep on the good work ! God Bless you & your lovely German Shepard !
I found you yesterday surfing through RUclips and binge-watched you for 9 hours, with a few breaks to shovel snow. Pride in craftsmanship always impresses me. You are an accomplished pro. One question, how long did it take you to re-sole the brown pair?
I like the bordeaux and the black one very much. But out of my budget range, unfortunately. So beautiful. Waaauwww, You have a great taste of art. Also the owner of these shoe's, because he knows where to let repare his shoe's.
I love craftsmanship but you take it to the level of superb. I've always loved well made shoes... actually, well made anything. Very enjoyable video.!!!!!!!!!!
I watch his videos at night. His voice is soothing to me. I just wished he had more (watch them all). I would like to know if he could do a case for an Epipen carrier?

I always thought shoe restoration was a joke so always ended up buying new. After seeing this video you do better than the manufacturer.
So.. How many times have you Clunked your thumb...
@@FodoRaggins You can get Florsheim Imperials for around $200-250 new and it’s almost twice that much to refurb them. Very strange.

I used to do that but I moved to Michigan went to the Army I envy you now,Beautiful Job!!
Dude, MAGNIFICENT!
Wow! Fantastic to see a great craftsman at work. You are an Artist.
People might think it's expensive but it's expensive to own your own shop!
I like watching your videos because they help me in my repairs I've been doing shoe repair for 52 years and there's always something new to learn especially with the shoes nowadays thank you very much for your videos they really help
When he talked about the died welt i was questioning it but not entirely. When he went down to talk to the camera i just had a massive grin on my face and still felt like a dummy😂
bahahahahahahahah
@@BedosLeatherworksLLC 🤓👍🖐🏼💯❤️
Hahaha, me too!
It totally got my wife. She said, "hmmm, interesting", and then followed up up with "aww crap". Then we both laughed hysterically. It's weird we watched a shoe repair video together. Neither of us have anything besides throw em out walmart shoes.
R.I.P welt. LOL I also got tricked.
I love your work and I am watching it every night before I get to sleep, it makes me lose my mind an dream about shoes😁🙏🏻🧚🏼♀️🌳🌲🧚🏻♂️🧚🏻🌲
We buried my dad in his Florsheims, he liked them so much. I still have some more pairs but I hate to toss them out.
Callie Masters anyone in the family you can pass them on to?
@Callie Masters If they need to be restored then why not send them to Steve? =)
Always enjoy your videos. Your workmanship is second to none. Well worth what you charge. Stay healthy, my friend.
I'm never usually 'that' guy, but the left burgundy pair at 57:20 looks like they're missing 3 nails on the heel..
I'm always 'that' guy. I'm only in the comments to see if anyone else noticed. You win. 👍
I went back to check and damb it. They are missing 😂😂
Well I was doing it all at the same time but I’m guessing about 2 hours.
I like the bordeaux and the black one very much. But out of my budget range, unfortunately. So beautiful. Waaauwww, You have a great taste of art. Also the owner of these shoe's, because he knows where to let repare his shoe's.
Kinda addicted to the shoe repairs, but not digging all these ads.
You can Block them you know
Schizophrenic Taco What’s that?
Bedo's Leatherworks LLC How?
A RUclips alternative in which you don't have adds, you can download it on Android phones I don't know about PC
That’s how you support the channel. Ads unskipped pay
I love craftsmanship but you take it to the level of superb. I've always loved well made shoes... actually, well made anything.
Very enjoyable video.!!!!!!!!!!
I love when you laugh after you trying to treat us
..lol
I watch his videos at night. His voice is soothing to me. I just wished he had more (watch them all).
I would like to know if he could do a case for an Epipen carrier?
I love your chatting with us while you work and your outstanding results blow me away every single time!
Just want to know, how much does such craftsmanship cost a pair?
True master of your craft. I've never seen shoe bottoms that looked like such fine artistry. God bless brother :)
I'm a simple man. I see Zeus, i upvote.
I won't lie, I though the crashing sound was Zeus tipping something over.
BEAUTIFUL! I’ll never be able to match your work at home, but you show me what the standard of perfection is.
