Steve, I am 54 years old and never in my life would I have ever thought that I would be so excited to watch a cobbler repair shoes. You are great at what you do and I enjoy the finished product. Everything you do turns out beautiful.
I am from Colombia I work in a shoe repair shop in Dallas TX every day at lunchtime I watch your videos someday I will have my own store and I hope to be as good as you ...👏👏
I’m a humble carpenter/contractor. I don’t own clothes nice enough for most peoples’ funerals, weddings, or even church. But watching you at your craft makes me wish I needed a fancy pair of refurbished shoes from Bedo’s.... Your craftsmanship is exemplary.
I started my collection (ridiculously large now) by buying a pair of Allen Edmonds 0n Ebay for $40 and had a half sole and heel plate put on by the local Cobbler for $45. Bought a set of shoe trees for $5 at a thrift store and refurbished them myself. So for about $100 I had a pair of beautiful Oxfords. And I've been hooked on doing it over and over. Sometimes I get lucky and can get them for $5 to 15 at thrift stores also.
I just bought a pair less than a month ago and they are probably the most handsome pair in my collection. Now I am waiting on a pair of Yeossal (with spade soles) and I can't wait! Quite disappointed with the fiber board stuff. Love how craftsmen like Steve, Trenton and Heath, and Weston from Rose Anvil give us an inside out look at products deemed as "the highest quality" but they end up not being all that. This really shows how much we should question some of these RUclipsrs who swear by some products but are proven wrong by these experts. Thank you Steve! Now let's continue!
ahpadt i mean no one really is pushing you anywhere, it's just really a fact that handmade stuff is higher quality. of course it's more expensive but for a small group of people, it's totally worth it
Steve I couldn’t believe when you destroyed these new shoes !However the finished Bedoes job was like a dream What a brilliant end product French tip too 🤗🤗🤗🤗 Fabulous 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
I can’t be the only one who feels a rush of emotion when I see your dad’s number set come out. Makes no sense, he wasn’t my dad. But I do appreciate how much it must mean to you to have those tools that your dad used.
Greetings from Budapest, Vass is just a few corner from here. Vass is one of the well known Hungarian shoe brand, so I always wanted to see one of these from the inside. (The Hungarian s sound is not the same as the English, it pronounced like the sh in the word "sheet" or "FlorSHeim". So phonetically like Budapesht and Vash. (Vass is an older written version of the family name Vas (means iron))
Surprising indeed Vass does not use stacked leather heels. As you say, functionally not an issue but having gone through all the trouble to craft a beautiful shoe like these then not go the whole hog... And yes, *ouch* to see that lovely new JR sole be removed. On another note, it’s always fun to see how sedate Steve starts off his videos explaining what’s to come... makes the candid/humour that follows as the video progresses all the more enjoyable!
You and sharp edges, Steve. I've watched from the beginning and you've always had an attraction to them (sharp edges). Personally, most of us can't get far enough away from cutting tools and our hands don't shake! Love watching and learning about shoes, manufacturers and what they do and don't do. Guess that's because I have chronic foot problems; education is a great thing. Thank You, again.
Amazing work. I will be honest..I know nothing about shoes. I am a plumber from Texas who lives his life in work boots. However I do know something about attention to detail. You are an old world craftsman. Fantastic job..I really enjoy your videos.
Second time watching this. Great as usual! I bought a pair of Vass today and was disappointed to see the paper heel block but I’m glad to hear that the rest of the shoe is of stellar quality.
Another job well done and better than new ! Yes, this video proves it. They were new when you started and now they are still new only better than new! A satisfied customer and viewers.
I knew a shoe repairman when I was a boy and used to watch him doing his work finding it interesting. I was also friends with his son. The father has long since passed away but the son and I are still friends at a distance on facebook. Their name is Liberti. I watch as many of your older videos as I can and wait for the new ones. Love to watch them as they bring back memories and I've sent them to my friend John Liberti. He said it reminded him of his dad. They relax me and make me smile. So many shoe repairmen seem to be from the 'old country'. There's another man in the town where I grew up who runs a shop named Marinakas. Not sure if I spelled that right.
I see A bedo's video I like. Looked at the Vass shoe shop in Budapest last year! First comment, keep up the great videos. I've been following from the start!
Sir, this has been a wonderful work of art! I honestly cannot believe it was 45 minutes! It flew by quickly! Here's the situation, I grew up in an era where shoes were repaired, not thrown away! Semper Fi!
Wow they look great, love your stories Steve you have become one of my favourite channels to watch on youtube, once I see you have uploaded I quite happily sit with my cup of tea and relax, look forward to the next one :)
It is different to have a new shoe come in for surgery. I think some companies will take shortcuts, but one cannot tell until ..........scalpel! I love all the machines you have, and how they all come into play. I didn’t know I’d you a particular leather it tightens. That’s a story itself. She needs oil. She screaming for oil! Wow. They came out great......another job well done.......let’s continue........
Another quality job of work. Lovely shoes but the manufacturing process let the shoes down.....paper heels? Come on guys, quality shoes need quality parts. You did a cracking job. Great video yet again. Shine on
Oh my gosh Steve, you really out did yourself on this job! Really phenomenal, and your ingenuity to make your own welt and brass tip, there is probably only a handful of guys that could have done this job at that level of quality. Rick
I never noticed how thick welts are! I knew you wouldn’t be able to leave the soles alone! LOL As soon as I saw the color on those original soles I thought “Oh, those are gonna get an upgrade!” I don’t own any good quality dress shoes, but I sure do love watching you work on them! 💕
Absolutely beautiful work Steve ! Your craftsmanship and attention to the little details ( and personality) Are some of the reasons we love Watching your channel ! And of course Zeus!👌👍❤
Awesome as usual steve , glad you got rid of the phony stuff on those and put your expertise to making these shoes into Gold. Your craftsmanship is Epic
Almost 100k subs! True craftsman ship as usual. Can’t wait for a tour of your personal shoe collection Steve. Probably some interesting and incredible shoes in there! On another note can’t wait for the take apart the machine video!
At 43:35 you show the brass tips. You did something really special with the screws! No slot, torx or phillips showing, and what appears to be a hole in the center of each screw. Your attachment method has me stumped!
I had been saving this to watch over the weekend, but I couldn't wait any longer. Thank you for another great video! Your loyal fans would love merch. Just saying. :)
I would have not expected to see a Laszlo Vass shoes with card board heels, but like you said this could be a lesser model they offer. But the star of the video is your skill Mr. Bedo !!!
Hey Steve ....um.. Armenian safety precautions,,, glove the holding right hand and Touch the hot edge with naked left hand ..LOL.. note withstanding all the blisters... Bloody Beautiful Job my friend...... As Always !!!!!
Hi Steve. The reflection of the ring light in shoe toes makes it look like the toes are bent in. Is there only me noticing it every time? 😁 I love watching you working, keep doing what you do! 🙂
Excellent work. Thanks!! PS Buda and Pest are actually two different amazing cities on either side of the Danube River that got combined. Locals still sometimes call it Pest Buda.
Steve you never ever fail to amaze me with knowledge and craftsmanship, those soles were amazing 😉 very best wishes from not so lockdown Reading England ❤️x
I realize that this is an old video, and so @BedosLeatherworksLLC is unlikely to see it, but I figured I'd make a comment nonetheless for the algorithm's sake. This is a VERY interesting video for a few reasons. First, the quality of the workmanship is incredible. All top shelf materials treated with the proper care by a highly skilled craftsman. That sole ended up a work of art, and I'm not sure that I'd enjoy scuffing that outsole through regular wear, but kudos to the client for being less fussy than me. Second, it's a shame to see Vass cutting corners. Of course, Vass isn't selling at a Saint Crispin's level price but even so -- Vass, raise your MSRP by $25 and use a full grain heel stack! It's totally lame not to. And also, three nails isn't enough. Spend the extra 15 seconds to drive a few more! Third, I'm not sure why the client bought these shoes which at current exchange rates would probably cost around $480, assuming that he bought them from the RTW collection, and then paid $650 to have the soles redone. Gaziano & Girling and Cleverley both offer a similar upper design with a spade sole, for not much more money and allow MUCH more customization.
Steve, I am 54 years old and never in my life would I have ever thought that I would be so excited to watch a cobbler repair shoes. You are great at what you do and I enjoy the finished product. Everything you do turns out beautiful.
I’m 26 and enjoy this very much! Kinda want to try it myself. Just need to save up for a pair worthy enough to send in. Haha
yeah he's one of the best!
I am from Colombia I work in a shoe repair shop in Dallas TX every day at lunchtime I watch your videos someday I will have my own store and I hope to be as good as you ...👏👏

my favorite youtuber s!!
Didn’t some on r/mfa tear Rose Anvil a new one for knowingly perpetuating some myth BS?
Aside from the heel block the holdfast construction seems in line with the handmade marketing line they push imo
Don't forget "cobblers plus"
ahpadt i mean no one really is pushing you anywhere, it's just really a fact that handmade stuff is higher quality. of course it's more expensive but for a small group of people, it's totally worth it
Clicked on this straight away. Let’s continue !

The funny thing is, Flors-Heim is German and spoken like "floors home" ;)
Attila Varga thanks for your personal insight!!
Cool lesson in linguistics, as well as the master shoe renovator. RUclipss is awesome, as are you guys
Retired Master Electrician 45 + yrs...Love your work !!!
Steve you should offer a giveaway where you allow someone to come and intern with you for like 2 days. I would be ecstatic if I ever won that!
Would you run to the hills!

Nobody does it better, makes me feel sad for the rest. Nobody does it half as good as you, Bedo's, you're the best. HI, STEVE!
YOU HAVE A ARTESIAN MAN .THE SHOES ARE FANTASTIC .REGARDS FROM SPAIN 👍
I really like how you tell us how much the job is. I feel empty inside when I watch a video like this and don't get all the information ;
Steve needs a merchandise store, shirts, mugs Leather care goods, maybe some book marks from left over leather I know I would buy it.
You and sharp edges, Steve. I've watched from the beginning and you've always had an attraction to them (sharp edges). LOVE that "Complainer Guy"! The Know-It-All, the Cliff Clavin of cobbling, the Barney Gumble of Falls Church, VA.
Nice touch on the french tip, nice to see that being handcrafter to fit perfectly and not a stamp. As always, amazing attention to detail.
A couple of things "they can do better". Thank God for your talent to finish the handcrafted work. Awesome job good sir.
Fresh haircut, beard trim. Great job on this project!
Love your sense of humor about living on the edge!!
That welt cutter machine thingy is so satisfying to watch!
Semper Fi!
Learned here about shoemaking more, then from some shoemaker's blogs
I love hammer time. It's nice to see someone hammer so hard, and not hit your fingers. Excellent job by the way, as always.
Those are too nice to wear! Remarkable transformation, sir.
Steve got a shave and a haircut. Looking pretty good. Really like the shoe transformation. Makes it look more regal.
This "scale" sole pattern is outstanding! True artist here! 👌👌👌
