  • Brian Eslick from How to Automotive www.howtoautomotive.com/ talks with you about the new Milwaukee Tools M18V CORDLESS TIRE INFLATOR. The M18 Inflator is fast accurate and easy inflation, with the portability to take anywhere. Optimized for passenger, light truck, and other medium-duty tires. Rated to deliver max 150PSI, the high efficiency motor tops-off 33” light truck tires in under 1 minute. The TrueFill Technology features an auto-pressure check that is designed to WAIT for the pressure to stabilize, CHECK the system pressure, and FILL until the desired target is reached. In addition, an Auto Shut-Off feature will stop inflation at selected PSI to prevent overinflation allowing users to set it & forget it. Furthermore, the unit includes 4 PSI memory slots, anti-vibration feet, a 36” inch hose with an all-brass Schrader chuck, and an on-board hose and nozzle storage.

    37” KO2 tires using 5.0 high output m18 battery - 20psi to 37psi … roughly 3.4 minutes or 12 seconds/1psi. After 4 tires, no overheating. Normal temperature. 2 bar left on battery.
    Compared it with a friend’s $650cad clamp inflator and it was roughly the same speed (minus setup hassle). Best purchase. Highly recommend for novice offroaders.

    Check out the JACO S2X pass through Hose Extension. Gives the hose a bit extra length, maybe enough to get to the spare tire. And has a push on self locking feature so you don’t have to twist on and off to the valve stem.

    I recently picked this inflator up. I’m very pleased with its performance with its small form factor and easy for travel. I tested it on my car 20 to 34psi and it was very quick. Maybe 2 mins tops.
    To kick it up a notch, I also gave it a try on my semi steer tire at 110psi. Going from 80 to 110psi it’s took roughly 5mins tops. Unit was very cool to the touch and battery 6.0ah was still full.
    If you’re looking for a nice, compact inflator, I recommend this Milwaukee inflator. Much easier than dragging out my air compressor, hose and tire gauge and fill nozzle. Thanks for sharing!

    Thinking about picking one up for off roading. Currently I use a Viar 88p that connects to the battery to air up 3 or my tires while the m12 airs up one tire. Takes quite a while over 20 minutes to fully air up and feels like i'm maxxing out my compressors. I may snag this one and use it in junction with the viar. nice to have a solid backup incase one concs out.

    I love this inflator, but for it to be worth having on an offroad multi day trip getting on and off trail multiple times doing air ups from 20 to 37psi, you either have to carry multiple batteries or fork out the $250 for the 12 amp/hour battery. That makes for a $400 kit!!!!!!

  • @ccadama
    @ccadama 2 года назад +3

    @How to Automotive. Great review and demo Brian.
    Question: Do you know what the duty cycle for that M18 inflator? Meaning how long can you run the inflator before you have to let it cool down for a set amount of time? I have the 20V Dewalt inflator and under 100PSI, the Dewalt has no time limit to run it. If you have to inflate over 100 PSI, the Dewalt manual says for every 10 minutes using it you have to let it cool off for 20 minutes. The Milwaukee M12 inflator needs 10 minutes to cool down after using it for 10 minutes regardless of pressure.
    Another good feature about the M18 inflator is that the battery is easier to remove. The M12 batteries with the wide base are a pain to remove because the bay is so small it's hard to get my fingers in to squeeze the battery tabs.
    Hope you and your family stay safe and well.

    • @HowtoAutomotive
      @HowtoAutomotive  2 года назад +1

      So I’m reading on the manual here and it says dirty duty cycle is 33% at 80 psi. From my own experience I aired up all four of the tires in this video without any cool down. And it handles it just fine.

      It does fine for small vehicles but when you get into the trucks it doesn’t really hold up. With long extended run times the M 12 gets very hot and shuts down

      There are no on board 12V inflation systems that have the durability that is reliable for off road use - just search RUclips and view the failure posted by someone on their name brand on board air system! Just get a 10 lb CO2 tank that you put together yourself - is it not hard and cery cost effective! Leave these small compressors for cars!!!

      @@LWRC i’ve seen those reviews as well with other on four compressors. This is way too new to know if it’s gonna be good long-term or not. I agree the CO2 is a great way to go.

      @@HowtoAutomotive Milwaukee makes great power tools and I love them. This compressor probably will serve autos well. If I go off roading and have to air down, I'll be bringing my CO2 tank just to have the insurance that I'll be getting home that day!!!
