    I have the Vair 84P, which is available on Amazon from $70 to $90. Have owned it about seven years and use it many times for family cars and the odd flat encountered among other drivers, including 4x4 tires. Have always been happy with this thing. It replaced a series of cheap compressors that rarely lasted a year.

    i'm 2 and half minutes in and this video has already taught me more about tire inflation than i have gathered in 50 years.

    Picked up the knock off ARB single from Amazon for our Jeep. Haven't had a chance to use it much yet, but I think it'll be a fun experiment. DIY'd a two tire hose kit that fits nicely under the drivers seat in a jumper cable bag.

    Awesome video. Smittybilt has been good to me with a little air line update. Like you said it is optimal to do 2 tires at one time. Worth every penny

    Nice comparison. I copied the same build as Nate a couple of years ago. All told I shelled out 200.00. Same DIY now puts it closer to 300.00. I do like the ability to hit all 4 at the same time up and down. Great content as always. Thanks.

    I have had the smittybilt high pressure compressor for around 6 years now and it has been flawless and reliable I even ran over it (Dana 60 and 40s) one day and it’s still kicking zero issues, it does get super hot though when airing up 40s

    • @MuddyBeards4X4
      @MuddyBeards4X4  11 месяцев назад +2

      They do get hot for sure, I have had the same luck with my Smittybilt. The cheaper compressors look the same but are clearly not built as well as the Smittybilt

    After hearing you say them at valve stems are capable of around 2CFM throughout, I’m interested in the combination of those new quick deflate valve stems in combination. Pushing the full 10CFM into each tire could be super cool

    I have the orange Alltop compression. The heat is my only complaint.

    • @MuddyBeards4X4
      @MuddyBeards4X4  11 месяцев назад +1

      Yup, this one is exactly the same as the all top but I paid $100 less. All these compressors get hot but this one was definitely much hotter. Which makes me think it might not last as long. Hopefully yours holds up long term.

    Harbor freight used to sell one identical to that smittybuilt but chromed. The piston in it is odd, the reed valves are made into the top of it. It doesn’t look like it would last. Mine got torn apart without ever being really used since it locked up.

    • @MuddyBeards4X4
      @MuddyBeards4X4  11 месяцев назад +1

      Interesting, Harbor freight does have one identical to the Smittybilt now, I think it’s red, and like $130. Not the same one you are talking about

    I’m pretty sure that CFM rating is the intake level, not the outage. Otherwise, this is great.

    I just bought and installed the Smittybuilt in my rig as on board system. Question for you guys. I had a Viair wired in with 30 amp fuse. Worked ok but really slow for 37” tires. Today I tested out the SB. The fuse blew. I know the label says 40a max. Is 30a fuse going to keep blowing?
    I have a valve and guage installed in the cargo space for on board air system, for air lockers too.
    It seemed to blow the fuse when I turned the tire fill ball valve off.
    I do have a high/low pressure switch installed. I thought this would be sufficient.
    Do I need to turn the actual pump off while checking air pressure?

    • @MuddyBeards4X4
      @MuddyBeards4X4  11 месяцев назад +2

      Yes, you would need a fuse and wiring that supports minimum 40a and also shut the compressor off before checking pressure.

    The softer the hose, the more oil it contains. The oil leeches out especially under pressure.

    Lots of videos on air compressors, has anyone evaluated tire gauges? I just pouched my first rig with a TPMS and found that none of my tire pressure gauges agreed with my TPMS.

    I’m Not an offroader guy so cut me some slack… but…
    This idea of rigging up hoses to pump all 4 at once puzzles me. Why???
    If you compare the setup and takedown time for all that hose against less setup per tire x 4…. And factor in the annoyance of carrying around a mile of air hose…
    Exactly how or why is filling 4 at once any better???

    • @matthew7972
      @matthew7972 2 месяца назад

      It’s because constantly stopping and checking the pressure for deflating and inflating. It’s super bulky and I don’t own it but people who do say it’s a great investment
