It’s all about where these guys land. Bryce Young was in an impossible position. Brock Purdy was one of the best QBs in the league last season statistically. Do you think if he played for Carolina he would have been any better than Bryce Young?

I really love what my two teams did in Chargers and Eagles. You know it’s a good draft when Simms begrudgingly gives praise. Chargers I love going Alt first because Nabers + the tackle that would’ve been left is not nearly as good as Joe Alt + McConkley. Got protection for Herbert, a DT, a LB and more WR and CB help. Great alignment of need and talent.
It’s interesting that the 2020 class was so elite because it didn’t feel like it had that much hype at the time. Everyone knew Burrow was a slam dunk, but Tua and Herbert both split a crowd before the draft. Love being taken by the Packers seemed to piss of their fanbase same with Hurts and Eagles fans (I admittedly was not a fan of the pick). Then they all happened to work out. What a strange class.
I enjoyed the Draft show. One thing not being said about the Atlanta QB situation -- it isn't possible two months ago to KNOW that Penix would be available to them. Also, they already know Cousins has been, and could still be, injured and unable to play immediately.
Maybe the Vikings moved up to avoid the pr or tiring him to culpepper with the 11th pick and also many it was a statement picking jj hight than any QB in franchise history. Love the take on the Vikings takes. Respect
Keon Coleman is going to be a sneaky great WR. He knows how to box out his coverage and always have his hands open, like Antonio Gates did for Chargers.
In reference to what Chris said about the Chargers’ picks and Harbaugh attempting to implement his culture, he’s drafted two players from Michigan in positions that need someone who’s fully bought in. Linebacker was an issue with the team lasts season, and with a fresh start at WR with Allen and Williams gone, Cornelius Johnson, even as a rookie and 7th rounder, should help lead by example for Quentin Johnston in particular. Johnson seems like a really good character, hard worker, and his background with his family backs that up, his father runs an organisation that teaches and promotes the history of African Americans in professional basketball before the colour barrier was broken in the NBA. Very smart guy and it was so cool when I realised his son was a college football player and a genuine draft prospect. I could be assuming a lot of his son, but it should help Harbaugh, I think, to have a few of his Michigan guys to help the transition
To your point about punters being under appreciated. Peyton Manning fans will remember the Colts lost to San Diego in the playoffs, in 2009, and most people will attribute that win to Darren sproles, but Mike Scifres pinned the colts inside the 10 and 20 multiple times in that game. Totally changed the game.
This "they overpaid" narrative is such dumb reporting. If I told you prior to the draft the Vikings were going to get both JJ and Dallas yet it would required trades in both scenarios to get them, I GUARANTEE you every analyst in the media would have projected more draft capital to do so than they ACTUALLY did. They got a top 4 QB in the draft and the best edge rusher. Most boards had both players in the top 10 overall and they didn't mortgage a future first for either. Well done Vikings!
30:06 George Paton said it best ... Bo was their guy and they weren't going to risk losing him for the couple of 5th rounds picks weed get for moving back.
Chris my friend it sounds like u are in my class the gluggers! Glug a lot to get out there then nurse to stay there and still be able to barely maintain! Welcome to the glugger club!
The #8 pick we not wasted, at all. That was an asset that will mature like no other. The 100m was well spent too, Simms said himself they are immediately a really good team. There are a few issues, but this was guaranteed v good QB play regardless of form or injury. What team can say that? This year, not maximising the team, but maximising the future
Atlanta could of used that FA money on Defense..Pass on Cousins..draft Penix 1st Round...And draft Spencer Rattler latter on...For competition purposes
If the Falcons didn't know almost everything they needed to know about Michael Penix Jr before they signed Kirk Cousins... 🙄 Rich Eisen - "When in the evaluation process did you see Patrick Mahomes and go, 'that's the guy'?" Andy Reid - "“Brett was pushing us with this guy forever, he was wearing John and I out with this quarterback, from the time the kid was a freshman...". “He was down on the field before one of the games scouting him at Texas Tech and he goes, ‘You’re not going to believe this quarterback. This guy is unbelievable, like the best I’ve ever seen,’” Reid said. “So you know, when somebody tells you that, that has the experience Brett has, you better look at him.“
Daniel Jeremiah definitely had Arnold as his CB1. Over here in the UK on Sky they used the NFL Network coverage, and he was the main scouting analyst, I found some of his draft rankings and opinions so baffling as Chris is the only guy I really listen to 😂 Arnold especially, given he wasn’t in Simms’ top 5
Chris Simms nailed the Bo Nix pick. I had Nix rated as the #2 QB in this draft behind Williams. Penix Jr. #3. Daniels, Maye, McCarthy all carry significant bust potential due to lack of experience. Way too much hype on the others by pundits specializing in regurgitation of bad narratives. Tape this to yer fridge.
I'm convinced Eagles Howie Roseman just looks at the consensus big board for his draft and that's why he "wins" the draft every year. This guy even joked about calling up Daniel Jeremiah to take a player off his best available.
Detroit. Guy wants you to say Vikings. overpaid. Think the Raiders didn't want McCarthy. What does the Value Chart say about getting the 8th ranked player at pick 17 when you started out with pick 23? Going up against 31 other teams. Process it that way Skoll
There is really no good ending for Atlanta with this situation. The only way it works out is if Cousins injury continues to bother him or he gets seriously injured again and Penix saves teh day. Otherwise as soon as they arent that good, everyone is going to be calling for Penix, its going to lead to tons of headaches for the team and players and they are going to end up releasing Cousins at the end of the year and eathing all that money. They wont ever get the salary cap advantage of QB on his rookie contract. Such a bad football move.
Don’t worry, no need for them to talk about KC’s draft picks in this video. 1) They said they might not get to every team, and 2) They’re going to spend the entire month of February 2025 talking about KC’s 3-peat anyways. 🏈💪😎
Salary cap as a reason for 6 QBs in 12 picks?? What?? 30 years haven't produced it, but all of a sudden teams are conscious they have a limit (when it went up surprisingly much this year!!)?? You guys have NO idea about contracts. Ask Lamar if he wishes he took your advice? Haha
He's talking about the rookie salary cap/wage scale. In the 2000s up through 2010, 1st round picks were some of the highest paid players in the league. He's saying teams were less likely to take a chance on someone if they were then going to have to give that player a multi-year, high salary deal. It's much more palatable now to take a shot at a QB in the 1st since you'll only be paying them their rookie contract.
Penix is no problem at all. Worst option trade cousins to giants/raiders and pay some of his salary, who cares. Better to have the QB. As for spending the 100m on others, how the hell you know you getting Penix? Pats should have taken him, instead they getting fired
Atlanta drafting Penix is only a bad move if they end up top 10 with 5 QBs worthy of a pick there while Penix is under his rookie contract. They have a legit out of the contract after two years and big name players due new contracts. 90 mil in two years and can pay the remaining 10 out over the next two. So they can backload players like Terrell and London, backloading their contract.

Andy Dalton 2nd Rd. Many good years for the Bengals bcuz the Bengals were able to also have other outstanding players. But in all your mentioning early in this podcast you have not yet named a QB better than Brock Purdy. NFL QB evaluation is terrible.
CHRIS IS THE GOAT
Did he really just say “they’ll have that black thing going”???!
