@@jeanhodgson8623 With no disrespect intended, there is no empirical evidence for the existence of spirits. It is simply wishful thinking akin to a child believing in Santa Claus. But if believing in things for which there is no evidence brings meaning and joy to a person's life, that's fine, as long as they don't expect the rest of us to share that delusion.
Exactly, the “God of the gaps”-fill anything you don’t know with a deity. Tried some Bible studies, some tried to convince me, but it just never worked. A lot of wishful thinking due to our survival instincts.

@@Laura-Yu do you feel shame when you do wrong? Why?
God gives man the ability to come up with all of these discoveries. To try to “play God” is very dangerous. It is very dangerous to put science or anything ahead of God. He is the creator, in control, and no matter what, his way will always be right. We just have to have faith in him,not in science. Sometimes we don’t understand things but that is where faith comes in. He knows what’s best. There is only one approach to the truth and that is Jesus Christ. I like how the mother reads the 23rd psalm for strength. And how the father seems calm beca use of his faith.
Hebrews c11 V1Faith is the assured expectation of what is hoped for the evident demonstrashion of realities that are not seen Eileen
Joe was a handsome lad. Those eyes are beautiful.
Religion isn't science. And science isn't supposed to be a religion. You can't prove or disprove things that can't be fully known.
And they said, Believe on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. Acts: 16:31
The verse says "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved." (Acts 16:31)
Heh this aged badly.
Do we think the actors actually believed in the message or do we think they were just happy to get paid? Also, is that the boom microphone at 17:55 ??
Looks like a clock
The girl in the beginning is so cute. I feel like back then with makeup being worse. If you were pretty, you really stood out.
before theologians began to make society comfortable w/doctrine that involves understanding the Bible as a non-literal text, believers must have felt quite defensive in light of physics/scientific discovery.
Why man ever felt that he could rightly explain/justify an all-powerful being'd creation of the world is beyond me. A lot of grey areas exist within the blurred lines of creation/evolution
Nothing in real science contradicts the King James Bible. (I have four science degrees, including a doctorate.)
@1:35 Joe could use this guy's ears to improve reception for his radio.
Are you "saved"?
0:31 SCIENTOLOGY!! 😱😱😱
Jesus saves. Moses invests.
Are YOU? I am.
@@sheriheffner2098 What are you (supposedly) saved from?
Yes. Any other questions?
The girl looks like the actress Denise Alexander from daytime tv.
Joe had beautiful eyes!👁👁
I googled him and he has an impressive education and career. Still a very handsome man. I would love to see pictures of him in his late 20’s-30’s but couldn’t find any.
That guy from I Dream of Jeannie?? Hayden Roarke
Hey, just realized that the father at the table with the family is Dr. Bellows from I Dream of Jeanie
Those "satellites" are now telling google maps " in 1 mile slight right turn on xyz street." All joking aside wasn't there satellite from the sixties still in contact with earth?
The Roman Empire ruled first, the church ruled the dark ages. Who's better?.
Just asking.

3:40 Dr Bellows before he worked for NASA
1960 had to be a sad ,and tough year with the death of buddy hollie and start of a new turbulate decade
I haven't read through all the comments and may have missed it but the father sure looks a bit like Dr. Bellows from I Dream of Jeannie.
That IS Hayden Rorke, aka Dr. Bellows from I Dream Of Jeannie(1965-70). 😁😁😁😁😁
Have Aron Ra speak to your parents, Joe. He's very reasonable and I'm sure they'll accept him as soon as they lay eyes on him.
"Oh George is just an Alchemist. He's not into God."
Remember, there were juvenile delinquents too; also Beatniks and not just we clean-cut ones. For more examples of this 50's/60's type living, watch Leave It To Beaver and Ozzie and Harriet. (Ricky was THE heart-throb to all the girls and some others too, who were mostly mystified by this.) And just think, all of this transpired only in Black & White!

Yeah, but people always conveniently leave out what they don't like! And yes, there were the Beatniks, the original tune out crowd. I loved them!!
@@sage4nowty129 Of course you would.
On the jesus point, having a bad day and a half and then returning as ruler of the universe is not a sacrifice
Christ's sacrifice was not just the crucifixion but the fact that he took all of God's wrath, for all human sin ever, onto himself.
@@jesussaves6625 How did he take all of God's wrath, did he bend over and get spanked or was he grounded for like a week? Is he suffering now? Shouldn't Child Protection be involved. There must be grounds for charging God with abuse of a minor.

30 years old. Called out
this is one of the funniest mid century films ive seen
Remember, the Sun revolves around the Earth. The other way is wrong.
31 is old?!
Back then maybe it was but today it's not old at all.
It's from 1960, back then 31 would be about middle age.
31 yrs old is not old at all! Today 30 is the new 20-lol!
George is at least 41
Everything turns out fantastically, wondrously, peachy keen when god is in your heart, and you're rich, white, perfect and deeply afraid of what you believe in.
Wow 31 was old at that time? 😂
Amen!
I would love to see that young guy who played Joe. Would like to see what he looks like today in 2023, if he is alive. He is so very young in this film. Would like to see how he changed. I wonder how old he is in this film.
PS I found him on Google. He was born in 1941 and was about 19 in this film. He is still alive in 2023. I saw how he has aged. Nothing like he is here. Age 19. Wow. In 1960! Time is so amazing.
Surprise! Dr Bellows (Hayden Rorke 1910-1987) from "I Dream of Jeannie" is Joe's father.
At 3:41 Dad will have his faith in science _and_ religion challenged when he meets astronaut Tony Nelson's genie!
I see some old soap stars in this one.
I was right, Denise Alexander played the daughter.
She was 21 here??
What is the actor Joe’s real name? Anyone knows?
Gordon Gelbert!
Gordon Gebert. He was Timmy in the movie Holiday Affair.
@@sarashelby3037 I love that movie!
Does anyone know who these actors are, besides Hayden Rorke?
Is Denise Alexander from General Hospital as the daughter? She played on television since the age of fourteen according to Wikipedia. She played Jodie Sturka on an episode of The Twilight Zone.
The actors are listed in the closing credits.
freds deep voice doesnt go with his face
The dude from I Dream of Jeannie 🤣
thats billy crystal in the soda shop. he must have been like 17 in this
this doesn’t seem real somehow... i know it is but so hard to believe of a time like this. fascinating.
It was just like this. These films are not exaggerating. To you it may as well be scenes from the 1800s. To me it is my life and it was just yesterday.
