Look at our society today and you know there is something seriously wrong in how families and relationships fall apart constantly. The sex revolution created more divorce, more broken homes, and hurt the children most of all

    It took me a long time to understand this, because in today's world casual dating is not a take-it-slow affair: in the 1950s, casual dating was a way to have company and learn about the opposite sex without as much pressure to get physical. Dating one person leads to heightened emotional intimacy, and thus to a greater likelihood of sex. We risk developing chemical and emotional bonds, either with the wrong person or simply too soon. Dating a variety of people was encouraged to lessen the chances of this. What does this wisdom teach us? Wait. Wait to have sex. Wait to open up emotionally. Don't be afraid that you'll miss out - the right person will be the one who thinks you're worth waiting for.

    • @ccings27
      @ccings27 3 года назад +98

      Jf Mc Well, that also varies by state my friend. many conservative states push abstinence, but it is proven abstinence stressed education does not work. it does not teach the new generation the tools of what they need. That is why there are more teen pregnancies in states with abstinence only education. 37 states require abstinence be taught in their curriculum, but only 18 states require birth control to be apart of it. 13 states have sex education that is required to be medically accurate. Which I find ridiculous. The dems have not done enough, buts that is only my opinion. I am sure there is still more sex liberation to come. The people who made this video were probably more on the open minded side for the fifties. Please do not think you are telling me facts when we can see videos from around same time about the same subject that are not as open minded and actually probably harmful for the veiwers. You might have watched these kinds of things when you were growing up in the fifties, but does not mean that everyone in america did. I hope you have a lovely day (and I do mean that)! This is amazing. This was nine years before I was born, and somehow my mom told me that they "just didn't know" back then? I was shamed constantly. I was punished for sharing a drink with a boy at a Valentine's school function in grade 5. I was prohibited from dating until I was at least 16. I was told that sex was terrible, but wasn't really told "about" sex. My parents ran down every friend and boyfriend I ever had. I wound up being very promiscuous and had many failed relationships. I am so impressed at how these parents talked with their children!

    • @idx1941
      @idx1941 8 месяцев назад

      this is a film that is fantasy. Real life parents did not behave like this. Back in those days no parent talked to their kids about sex. Your parents knew what was in store for you, and tried their best to steer you away from sex, but it didn't work and it never will work. Teens are going to fuck! And that's just what you did. And of course you're going to have failed relationships, because most young people are attracted to each other on the most superficial basis. Young people are not looking for any true qualities in a partner, they are looking for someone who excites them. This is how you chose on the men your life and how those men chose you. AND that is just how nature is! Nature doesn't give a damn about your happiness or your fulfillment....nature wants your to procreate, to breed! Breeding is the sole reason why all life on this planet exists.

    This was a page right out of history! I love the way this nurtures the idea of healthy relationships with the opposite sex and explains the ups and downs and the need to experiment and get to know the opposite sex. My parents would have been 5 years old when this was made. My Grandparents would have been about 24 or 25 years old on my Dad's side and about in their 30s and 40s on my Mom's side. I think this perfectly explains their ideas about sex. My parents were conservative, but they allowed me to date when I was 16 and made sure I was educated at home, school and church about sex from the physical, spiritual and emotional aspect of it. Getting pregnant as a teen was OUT OF THE QUESTION and dating a guy with the wrong type of morals was also out of the question, though I did experiment with that and they were right, that was a bad idea. Now I have my own teenagers who aren't the least bit interested in relationships at this time. To be honest, I cannot blame them. Really things have become far to shallow and awful. My husband and I have a great relationship though. They already know they are living in a different world that might not have the same things to offer as we did.

I’m sure they’ve done a bit of their own research (so to speak) but there was nothing that was off topic during their formative years. I never said a widow or widower should or shouldn't remarry. That's a personal decision, and not what my comment was about.
      My issue is with the commentor who said that they don't think someone who has lost their spouse is ever "truly alone because they still have the love of their husband in their hearts".
      That statement is ignorant, cruel and shows a lack of compassion that is beyond my ability to explain. Despite what you and the other commentor seem to think, saying stupid shit like that is only going to make the person who was left behind feel EVEN MORE ALONE, because no one around them understands the agonizing hole in their soul. Love in your heart is a horrifyingly cruel substitute for love in your life.
      Do you have any idea what it's like to have half of yourself ripped away? To helplessly watch the life slipping from them? To know that you will never be able to hold them again?
      To hear their voice? To have them hold your hand and give you reassurance? To be able to offer comfort and reassurance to them? To smell their scent at night? To hear them slurp their soup like a d*mned pig, or pick their socks up from the coffee table for the 5th time today?
      You have no f*cking idea what pain and loneliness is, and I honestly hope that you never do.
      I also truly hope your mother finds whatever she may need to help her live again, and I hope that you can get past your own selfish fee-fees and actually give her the compassion that she needs and deserves.

I feel like I actually agree that trying dating lots of different people helps you get an idea of who is really right for you for marriage, now it's kind of all or nothing massive heartbreak if a couple goes their separate ways, and people are really possessive over each other even in short relationships. Although obviously other aspects need to be updated to the times lol, and we need more education on SAFE sex because, teenagers are gonna do it even if you tell them not to.
