I would love this so much, thanks to your introduction. But the fact that a) you can just upgrade your fleet without any cost or consideration of supply lines or anything and b) generates such terrible huge borders kills it for me somehow. If my fleet wushes through space and finds itself in front of a surprising huge fleet of the enemy i can just say "upgrade antimatter warheads" and, by magic, it is just there? Lightyears away from where my fleet should be upgraded? Nono, a game like this cant do stuff like that in my opinion.
GalCiv has never really been 'hardcore' in terms of accepted war gaming principles and concepts. It's a pretty low level entrant in terms of space 4X complexity. It is what it is.
