Watched a dozen of these, yours is the best demo for slotted head guitar string replacement I’ve seen.

Forgot to mention how well done your presentation was. Not boring; just easy to follow instructions.

I just got a used Martin 000-15S that needs fresh strings. This is by far the best video! Thanks!

I followed this video and was successful. Wish it had been out there when I first got my National. Of course there’s probably only a couple of hundred people who own one,

Absolutely perfect. You are a top man for giving such a good and informative guide to this tedious business on a slotted head guitar. Even I was able to do the job perfectly well by following your step by step exposition of this chore. Many thanks your effort is appreciated.

Yet another excellent, very informative, and expertly 'produced' video! I just realized that the (Lord knows how old strings) on my (inherited) 1929 Square Neck Tri-Cone, were installed completely wrong. I will immediately be ordering a new set of 'John Pearse .013-.056 strings and install them according to your instructions. ......Thanks Lenny!

HI, yes, you can tune it from the inside out. It's not as important when you actually are removing the cone, as you're not trying to keep it in the exact spot it was as I'm doing in this video. As for the strings, 13-56 is the standard set on all new National ResoPhonics, and pretty much the standard string set i've been using for years. They work great for a combo of slide and fingerstyle. Glad you enjoy these and thanks for the kind words.
    Cheers, Lenny

    Hi Lenny .
I've got a question about how to tune this kind of guitar:
Wouldn't it be safer to tune a resonator guitar from the "middle strings" to the "sides strings" ?
Considering the pressure caused by the lowest or highest string (when tuned first) on one side of the cone(s), to avoid any damage, I prefer to tune the strings from the middle to the sides (& to not leave all the old strings, but to change the strings1 by 1, to keep the cone[s] in the right spot, if possible). Am I wrong ?

man im getting really frustrated ive tried and tried on the high e string and no mattar what it touches the wood slightly it looks like the right angle but it rests just hardly on the little groove on the beginning of the head stock. does it have to do with what side of the hole i put it through.

Does your string measuring trick work for standard guitar tune pegs no matter if hocky stick or 3 and 3 or 6 and 6?
