Drop C and C standard are both equal. The lowest note is still C2 just you have more higher register notes in D than you do with C. I personally just play Drop C cause C standard is too low for 25.5" scale guitar.
The main difference is the 5th string tuned to perfect 5th(7 notes) rather than a perfect 4th (5 notes) from C. I just transpose tabs from C standard to Drop C not that difficult.

Yes. If you like playing any of these songs, distortion will make it much better. Your amp can probably do it, maybe not as good though...
