Also, Gibson isn’t sitting on a huge lot of boxes. They are made to order. Carton making facilities can make large orders of boxes and have them at their factory in day or two. So, they mostly likely just order them when they need them. I also worked a factory that made Roof Vents. Storage of boxes was always an issue. So, we pretty just order them as we needed them.

I have an 11 Junior, but it's modern spec compared to this one. I paid half of the price of the Nelson. I'm really digging the Nelson sig tho. Beautiful Junior
I like Lukas and I would proudly rock this. However, my two cents is if you’re looking for something close for a lot less money the 2011 Les Paul melody makers are awesome. They have satin finishes and really are awesome for one pickup guitars. Mine has a humbucker, but I’m pretty sure they came with different pickup options.
Thanks Trogly! Nice guitar. Sounds great. Because it has a P 90(the best pick up ever, IMO), two knobs, no push pull pots. Just a nice, simple guitar. I don't think it should be as expensive as it is, being so basic. Half the price would be more than fair. I know, I live in fantasyland. As far as satin finishes go, I just bought a new Rick 4003 bass with a satin finish. First satin finish guitar I've ever owned. I really like it, but it does feel "different." Feels kind of like a Formica counter top. It's extremely smooth, almost too smooth, and I don't have to spend half the day wiping fingerprints off of it. I love shiny, black guitars, but they show every bit of dust and fingerprints!
Hey trogly today is my 11th birthday. My first guitar I got a year ago was a squire strat and one year later I can tap, and play the solo of enter sandman perfectly and this year I got a tobacco burst Gibson Les Paul studio and I looooooooooove it it’s soooo nice
Lukas is an awesome player and had to get one when it came out. Serial on mine is one before Trogly’s. Crucially it’s finish looks like the proper yellow of vintage. The non-signature version is a kind of tobacco burst that looks historically wrong to me. I believe there’s a vintage accurate finish version for £3k! You certainly can buff it to gloss. The neck has naturally evolved that way from my hand and is like glass now. It’s also buffing by my sleeve. Would have been nice to have a bumblebee capacitor as I think is vintage spec, and some wiring is plastic. The worst thing about the guitar is “new guitar smell” which is so potent it gives me a headache if stored for too long. Steady on the perfume Gibson. Other than that, love this guitar. Seems like a decent price for a well made Gibson.
Funny how the guitar sounds off with a clean tone. These really come to life with high gain. It sounds HUGE ! +1 for fat neck and accurate era tuners. I definitely see a market for that. Would be nice to compare with a regular Junior from the last batch. Cheers!
So it is not a typical satin finish. Per artist request these get 5 coats of lacquer and then are sprayed with satin after they are scuff sanded. That’s why the satin feels so slick and smooth and isn’t that grainy.
whats your argument in favor of this guitar? Not hating I'm just very curious why a single P90 in the bridge is enticing at this price point. Like whats the reason you would prefer this over a double-cut, given that they're almost identical except for the double-cut being cheaper and also having one more pickup.
@@wepisbagina7295 well, to be honest, I love the double cut shape but I don't like the dc tributes at all for mostly superficial reasons. @@dumbdickler670 ok fair enough, and I guess if you want a double P90 LP that isn't a double cut you're paying a very hefty premium. Whatever makes you pickup the guitar and play it, right?
Was on the fence with getting a LN LPjr. But after finding a mint gloss 2019 ribbon mahogany 1 piece body standard for 900$ with unopened case candy....I’m glad I got that one.
Hi Austin I think that the place in where is made the case is very causal for example I bought a Les Paul Standard in 2020 and the case is made in Canada (sorry for grammar but I am Italian)
I looked at a sg junior and a les paul junior in my local guitar guitar. Both had chips on the edge of the nut. I don't mean the lacquer chipped off, that's common, I mean the nut was chipped where it meets the fretboard. And then it was lacquered over. The les paul junior had terrible blobby finish around the neck joint. I think Gibson QC is still a mile off. I don't think there are any lights in the Nashville factory.
$1500.00 for any LPJR that isn't super collectable is just highway robbery! I just paid $700.00 for a brand new Epiphone that if the flamed maple wasn't a veneer, it would be as good as any $2500 Gibson. Gibson USA Burstbuckers 2 & 3, CTS audio taper pots, 50's wiring, Switchcraft jack, and Switch, Kluson style tuners branded Epiphone deluxe, that IMO hold tune better than the Gibson Deluxe tuners, a Lifton Style case, a full maple cap with a flame veneer, it's beautiful. And a heck of a lot more guitar for $700.00, than any LPJR, or Studio, or Traditional, period correct knobs. I pre-ordered the first day, so I was one of the lucky few that got one 8 months later, but right before they made retailers pull all ads so they can do a proper launch in October, Gibson is asinine.I also got a guitar that is as well made, and sounds and plays as good as a $4000-$6000 Gibson Custom Slop guitar, but for $1500.00 new. An Eastman SB59/V, the most beautiful guitar I've ever seen, and I've owned over 100 guitars in my life. All aged Gotoh Hardware, CTS, Sprague orange drops, Switchcraft, bone nut, perfect frets on a perfect Ebony board. The body, and neck are both one piece Mahogany, non weight relief, but still just 8 lbs! The full flamed cap is wide Tiger stripe in a downward Chevron pattern, and it has a very sweet set of Seymour Duncan Antiquities, wound, and signed by Seymour in his personal custom shop. Check out Darrell Braun's CS Gibson VS the SB59/V, and see what you can get for 1/4 the price of a Great Gibson, but the Eastman is as good, no QC issues, and some ways it's a better guitar, with the most comfortable neck I've ever played! Keith
Austin, I've emailed you 3 or 4 times on 2 different addresses, and even though I've told you I can't afford a fee ( to see if you'd like to do a video on 3 guitars or any of the three) and have said in all emails that I'm disabled, and would gladly pay your fee if I had it. What I don't get is why you haven't replied. If I had written 4 emails in a week or two, I'd understand that you might be tired of hearing from me, but I believe I sent 4 in a 2 month period, at least a month. I realize this is your livelihood, and you are a very lucky young man to have made good connections, and took the time to learn about guitars, especially Gibson's, I only know one guy who knows more about them, Steve Angela of Angela's instruments in Silver Springs, Maryland. But I tell you that I had to save over a year, and use my entire stimulus on the 2 guitars I spoke of in the above comment, and you can't take a few seconds to reply for I assume there's nothing in it for you. I love most of your videos, mainly the Gibson documentations, and watch even the ones I'm not crazy about, you'd think that would be contribution enough to get you to reply to an offer for guitars you've not documented, and all 3 are truly mint condition. Maybe I'll hear back, but I'm not holding my breath. Keith
I am kinda starting to like those Les Paul Juniors. What are you doing to us Trogly. Have a good day. PS Waiting for the Charlie Starr signature Les Paul Jr. To come out (Blackberry Smoke)
2:48 Satin finishes typically have a specified amount of dulling compound in the material (polyurethane) for example and cannot be polished to a gloss. Just sayin.
I want one now too hey trogly I actually use that cheesey Gibson strap on my sg but I agree they should make a new style and wider I like the Costa Rica case
I was all pumped when they first announced these, but after hearing this guitar now for the second time, that Alnico III pickup they are using sounds way too thin and twangy. I'm glad I went with an Eastman SB55/V instead. My Eastman has a Lollar 50's P90, Faber bridge and tuners, CTS pots and ebony fretboard. It smokes this LP Jr in looks and sound!
I have a Harley Benton DC Junior for 260 bucks( limited edition, hence the 'huge' price), it has a stacked P90, wrap around bridge with individual saddles and sounds better than this Gibson lol!
Joe R M Unless it’s an Esquire. Honestly, the LP Juniors and Specials were designed to be Gibson’s version of an Esquire/Telecaster. Simple, more affordable, dependable guitars for working musicians who couldn’t afford a Les Paul. This Lucas Nelson Junior is a bargain compared to Fender’s new 70th Anniversary Esquire. As someone who absolutely loves Fender I think this Gibson is really going to go up in value if the actual production numbers end up being as low as Gibson has planned. I’m very tempted to buy one of these.
Hi Austin, have you ever reviewed a Gibson LP standard HP-ll ? Despite the “online hate” I have one and it is fantastic, sounds great, stays in tune, l will love to see the guts of it... thanks l love your show been watching for a long time
Personally I feel that price is steep for a junior artist series or not. Especially since the only variables you have is your tone and volume controls and nothing but a wrap around bridge. Yes that's a nice case which I'm thinking with everything going on that it's hard to get things through China but I've recently priced cases and those really aren't that expensive considering they're Gibson branded.
On a guitar like this I would have liked to see you check the intonation. Does the bridge design use the little grub screws at each end to allow some adjustment- I didn't notice. The pickup height is important. Also consider recording without effects.
When did Gibson stat adding all the "case candy"? I bought a 82 Les Paul custom brand new and all I got was a cheap little paper booklet. Also never saw a chainsaw case till they brought it out. I was like "what is this huge thing?" now I realize how superior it is to other cases.
tauntonengine3 Your ‘82 Custom not only has the chainsaw case to love, it has two Tim Shaw humbuckers. He worked for Gibson fort a few years before Fender made him an offer he couldn’t refuse. A certified pickup guru. I have an ‘82 LP with Shaws and it is a great guitar. A pair of Shaws from this era could run you more than $650.00.
Neil Young and myself would disagree ... personally I've been trying to find one for sale now that I can afford it and there are none for sale at least I can't find one ...it's the only signature I've ever really wanted and heard they only made 200 ...just my luck lol
Hey Trogly! I don't mind you switching to metric measurements on the neck but could you overlay the measurements in inches in the top right corner as you did before with metric, would help alot of people out, like myself, who are used to standard measurements.
There is a vid of Lukas and the Promise of the Real on Letterman, long ago. He is playing a song of romance and a Strat through a Super. He is the real deal.
@@KALVIN123I seem to have triggered and offended you by saying he should stick with the correct measurement system. Its ok, not everybody accepts the superiority of the imperial system at first. But once your narrow mindedness goes away you will come to agree with me.
That would be the ultimate relic finish. I wonder if the enormous price Martin would charge for such a model would include the services of a personal guitar tech to keep the guitar functional? The only people who would be able to afford it would be doctors and lawyers who would just hang it on the wall for art.
Does the satin finish feel thinner than the high gloss on the standard models, kinda like the finish on CS reissue models? I had a few low end Gibson with the open pore satin finish and never quite bonded with them, but this one sounds like it could be a bargain version of the Custom Shop juniors. Especially due to the tuners and the bridge.
How do you feel about this new signature model?

I am kinda starting to like those Les Paul Juniors. What are you doing to us Trogly. Have a good day.
PS
Waiting for the Charlie Starr signature Les Paul Jr. To come out (Blackberry Smoke)
A Charlie Starr model would be cool!

Satin finishes typically have a specified amount of dulling compound in the material (polyurethane) for example and cannot be polished to a gloss. Just sayin.
I keep thinking about going barebones with one of these, or maybe an SG Jr. Been there, done that with the high-end ones!
Catch him on singing for a change... he has a verse on the song “ The Weight” enjoy
the teardrop paint job looked great when you had it in bits but the pick guard spoils it.
Hey Trogly.
What sort of music do you listen to ?
Thanks for your vids 👍
If that guitar didnt sound so amazing I would hate it. Want the Epiphone Old Glory on a bad way. Start with something I can afford.
Great band
The way the strings miss the pole pieces is terrible
Ordered one, can't wait!
Yeah, almost a Tele twang on this... and you get two pickups on a Tele!
I have a Harley Benton DC Junior for 260 bucks( limited edition, hence the 'huge' price), it has a stacked P90, wrap around bridge with individual saddles and sounds better than this Gibson lol!
Luka Marinov ....obviously, that's where my ears are connected to....🙄

Unless it’s an Esquire.
I’m very tempted to buy one of these.
gearViewmirror me too. I modded mine a bit and it sounds 100 times better at 1/3rd the cost.
You should take a look at the fender Dave Murray of iron madien signature Strat it’s a gorgeous guitar and I think you would like like it
What reverb are you using in the demo? ...great review and great work thanks for sharing'
0:45 what kind of music do you listen to?
I inherited my Grandads 56 Les Paul custom, when my Dad died in 2019.
cool story bro ...thanks for telling us...lol
Lucas has a nice video on this thru Fender! Got me interested.
On a guitar like this I would have liked to see you check the intonation. Does the bridge design use the little grub screws at each end to allow some adjustment- I didn't notice. The pickup height is important. Also consider recording without effects.
It looks like the end of the fretboard was a little chewed up too.
He worked
for Gibson fort a few years before Fender made him an offer he couldn’t refuse. A certified pickup guru. I have an ‘82
LP with Shaws and it is a great guitar. A pair of Shaws from this era could run you more than $650.00.
tauntonengine3 I bought a 2016 ES335 Studio and didn’t get anything at all
Saw this guys band backing, Neil Young. On his Earth Tour.
Neil Young and myself would disagree ... personally I've been trying to find one for sale now that I can afford it and there are none for sale at least I can't find one ...it's the only signature I've ever really wanted and heard they only made 200 ...just my luck lol
The specs say it's a custom spec pickup too, can't believe he didn't mention that.
Hey Trogly! I don't mind you switching to metric measurements on the neck but could you overlay the measurements in inches in the top right corner as you did before with metric, would help alot of people out, like myself, who are used to standard measurements.
Did your caliper stick on metric?
This thing sounds fantastic!
I feel this needs a bound maple fretboard to really set it off and separate it from the pack.
You sound particularly good 'today', or on that guitar!
There is a vid of Lukas and the Promise of the Real on Letterman, long ago. He is playing a song of romance and a Strat through a Super. He is the real deal.
Think you should stick to inches on the measurements
Your imperial system is rubish. 1 inch =23,343 pitric square per foot of something stupid.
1meter= 100cm
Simple.
@@KALVIN123I seem to have triggered and offended you by saying he should stick with the correct measurement system. Its ok, not everybody accepts the superiority of the imperial system at first. But once your narrow mindedness goes away you will come to agree with me.
Are you still planning on doing the Brian Ray sg? I saw they are now available on sweetwater.
$1500 guitar with rusty screws ?
Hi , do you find this ,the regular one ,and the epiphone sooooo different???thanks for the review
do one of those new Custom Shop LP DC Special with flame top and humbuckers!
Friggin' TONE man.
I know you typically don’t document acoustics, but if Martin came out with a Trigger replica would you document it?
Nice bro keen for the next vid 🌹
