The scratches on the black one made me nauseous. I would be furious if I dropped $$$ and got that.
I usually buy used or "scratch and dent" because that's my budget. I would expect minor scratches on used but not factory new. I love all my Gibsons. It's disappointing to see those finish blemishes.

i agree 100%, but for some reason gibson wont address the finish issue...been that way for years now. better finish on most low end ($500 - $600) guitars yet for some reason we pay big bucks for the name and shit for quality.....

I really don't get Gibson. Literally no other company has the type of QC issues they do and yet they are among the most expensive guitars on the market. It's literally just a name you are paying for at this point. Any overseas guitar dominates them now in terms of QC. So frustrating. What the hell are they doing other than milking boomers? Fix your process Gibson.

Out of curiosity, I did some quick research regarding the price. Apparently the original Les Paul Junior sold for $99.50 back in 1954; adjusted for inflation, that's about $1,100 in 2023. Gibson wants literally double that for this guitar. It's absolute insanity, especially when you can get the Epiphone version of that gold top (the better guitar imo) for like $500.

I’m so glad you pointed out that the pickup is dynamic. That’s what I really don’t like about hum canceling p-90s is that they aren’t as dynamic as traditional p-90s and that’s what I love most about p-90’s. I hope Gibson offers them separately at some point. Right now I have an Epiphone Billie Joe signature with a Mojo Tone quite coil that I put in it. It’s not him canceling, but it’s much quieter than most P-90’s and it’s got the dynamics that I desire. I wouldn’t want to get the Gibson version because I prefer the chunkier neck, and I’m not as big of a fan of the finishes. I was hoping it was going to be an actual silver “sparkle” rather than a “mist”

The classic Gibson “Mudbucker” bass pickup is also a sidewinder design. And while that coil design does affect the tone, a lot of the EB-0 sound comes just from putting a bass pickup right at the neck position. Gibson should’ve done sidewinder P-90’s all the way back then, too!

I bought one and sent it back. A few QC issues and the case is flimsy. Tuners not installed properly, finish peeling and what looked to be an extra hole was drilled and filled for the output. For the price I’d expect it to be in better condition. Seemed silly to play that much for a Junior if it’s not in collectors grade condition from the factory. Or that much for a Junior to be a gigging guitar. Cool looking but at $2300 it didn’t ring my bells. My 2005 Junior was cheap and sounds better too.

There's also a ding on the edge of the body @ 9:22 you can see it on the lower bout/ upper edge. Not sure if you noticed it or not.

Those sidewinders aren’t a new thing, Gibson used the same idea on the EB series basses.

Before you even opened the box and you said Billy Joe armstrong from green day my mind thought ahhh bubblegum punk. Then you opened the box and that pink case came out I was like see I knew it lol.

Sounds like a good Jazz artist could make great use of the pickup on this model if the sound is what they need.

Any idea if these are limited run? How many will gibson end up making? Seems like they aren't selling out fast...

That regular P 90 sounds way better. I like the photos but not a fan of the finish.

Glossy necks fast? Interesting. I tend to find them really sticky and annoying. I like them more silky

Let's see, less of a neck, no intonation, hideous case only $500 more !
    Thanks Gibson!!

Cool guitar. The pickup sounds great, doesn't give the P90 bite though. It's too smooth, tamed a little too much.

With a TV Yellow finish, would that have been amber wavy grain?

Imagine having a 3k guitar to play power chords. Green day having a signature guitar is like my 6 year old nephew having a signature football

This is way too expensive, but Green Day isn't that bad. Kerplunk, Dookie, and American idiot were huge albums.
He can actually play pretty well, but he just doesn't want that in Green Day

The 3k is absolutely obscene, but Billie Joe definitely deserves a signature guitar!

Great review. The Silver version I played felt like it had tiny frets. Certainly not what we see here. The pickup seemed lifeless. Great neck, and is lightweight. No sale, not even close.
